| Go Leafs Go! 2006-2007 season!!
Posted: 9/13/2006 6:43:37 PM | We are just about 5 days away until the first preseason game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple leafs on Monday September. 18!!
I know this thread may be a little early to post but like many leafs and hockey fans out there we are all excited to see some hockey back in town!
Id like to thank "always smiling" for posting the thread to keep us updated on what the leafs have done in the offseason in the hopes of improving the team and get back into the playoffs once again! Please continue to post there as the discussion is heating up as we come closer to the regular season where the games count!
As you read there have been some big changes to the leafs:
a new younger coach: Paul Maurice
a new goalie that looks to be the top netminder and is also younger: Andrew Raycroft
vetran forward who was part of the Oilers run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs least saeason: Mike Peca
and a new blueliner who can hopefully improve the defense: Pavel Kubina
Wednesday Oct. 4th the leafs will have their home opener at the ACC against their biggest rivals the Ottawa Senators and lets hope the leafs will get off to a good start..and beat them once again in the playoffs lmao
I am a pretty optimistic guy and i feel confident that leafs fans like me will have more to cheer about this season and I can see us making the playoffs! Not sure about finishing in the top 4 in the East but we will make it!
The thread i had going last season was a big success and I would like to see that same energy and enthusiasm from all you leafs fans this year! Sens, Habs or fans of other teams your welcome to post here too and try and taunt us but you wont succed lmao
I may be the original poster of this thread but Id like to see a lot of participation from all hockey fans here leafs fans or not! If there is inaccurate info posted here or if you hear of any rumors or confirmed transactions involving the leafs please let us know!
I usually post the good news during the games but please help me out on the score updates and team standings if you wish!
So let the countdown begin until the first preseason game on Monday! i can't wait to watch it!!

mackie and devil: I know you both are big fans also and Id love to join ya Monday if i can make it! Oct. 4th we need to have a party somewhere for sure lol. I guess Oshawa since its a Wednesday night game lol. Let me know if you need any help getting a leafs party going as i am willing to help out :)
Also like last season i helped out with some of the parties by coming earlier to watch the game with with the gang! So if you need somebody to host that part of the party let me know as i am willing to help with that again also!
For those that havent met me yet or seen me with my leafs jersey on look for "Rumball 93" on the back. My last name is Rumball and the 93 of course is my fav leaf player of all time Doug Gilmour who is also helping with the club not sure yet in what capacity though lol
edit: oh no there is that evil Sens fan PD lmao!! i though you would find this thread sooner or later lol. Looking forward to beating your Sens on the 4th and to see you in your leafs hat i bought ya sparkys lmao

IMO the top 2 lines should be Sundin, Ponikerovsky, Antropov and Peca, Tucker and Oneill....3rd line could be the kid line again..Stajan, Steen and Wellwood...Now that some of my shows have ended this past week will be waiting on the Hockey Season to begin..They should make the playoffs this year again but would shock me if they went past the final four..Being born in 1969 i have never seen the cup in Toronto, so kind of used to the playoffs ending in May, would be nice to see them carry it into June but i think that won't happen. Either way i am hoping a Canadian team can bring the cup back home, its been away from Canada since 93 when the Habs won it. | |

they also had a great start ... then they blew two flats .. and that's what cost them the playoffs ...
i'm gonna start a new thing this year ... what i think is the Turning Point in the game .. like TSN's ... called the DD Turning point .. after me name of course ...
well the DD TP was the TWO back-to-back series with the Rangers and the Habs .. losing both those series put them right out of contention ...
valiant effort but as the old cliche goes .. 'too little too late'
i still think with all the changes this year .. starting with Maurice, Raycroft, and Kabina and Gill .. look for them in the top 4 and finishing with 100 points
If the leafs do poorly again this season, I'm on the Sens bandwagon...I hear there's room.
Doc ya is funny ... but i'd jump on another one .. may be a lil tight .. but that one has a lil foul taste having never beaten the LEAFS in the playoffs

Posted: 9/14/2006 7:39:43 AM | I cant wait either ,after the strike then the horrible season we had last year Im ready to see some hockey,never been a bandwagon person ,have been a leaf fan my whole life,its where I live Im gonna root for em weather they do good or bad,Ive never quite understood people who root for a foreign team,when the leafs are taken out of the season,be it playoffs or knock on wood,before the playoffs I will watch but have not near the amount of interest.
Will be interesting to see what they will do with Gilmour on board,has anyone heard what he might be doing?And no matter what anyone says Ill miss Domi!

The MR is a huge leafs fan geeez he's been listening to the sports news all summer. Now just to get the big screen tv so we can have a few of ya's over to watch the games.
