< OPEN > , < BROWSE > and < SAVE AS > Dialog box under the Windows Environment, as these are far too puny to get any decent oversight, esp. when searching for a file to < OPEN > .
Both the Tweak and the Software rendered these boxes full-screen, eliminating all the 'micro-scrolling' when looking for some file on Drive T:\ some 12 Folder Trees down.
What a nuisance. Although I can re-size these windows by dragging the bottom right across and down, they won't stay that way, esp. after the next re-boot, again defaulting back to 20% of the viewable screen area.
I am not looking for any open codes, DLL resizing scripts, javascripts or bitmap environments, or anything having to do with Browser Windows. These Tweaks affected the dialogs under the Operating System from Windows 95 right through to WinXP.
If anyone could shine any Light on this, it would be appreciated. | |

Never could get it back to working right, so I eventually had to uninstall all the so called "helpful" programs. Then after i went into REGEDIT to fully get rid of them, my computer threw a fit and crashed my Windows. So, I had to completely reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows all over again. Of course I had to save all my valuable saved files on floppy before doing this. It was drastic, but it solved all the problems. Hope this helps, and actually I am hoping somebody else who is more technical minded, can resolve this for you; before having to resort to the measures I had to go through. Much good luck! | |

Posted: 9/22/2006 10:47:11 AM | ^^^ I know there are quite a few Angles to tackle this Task. I know many Programmers have made a total mess of it for others, often required scratching the Disk back down again. I appreciate the work that went into it, but its not for the ordinary Joe.
But among all the fancy Ways of going about it, I used a series of simple Registry Tweaks I had written down in a text file, which subsequently must have grown little feet and walked away ... lol
Same with the software ... it automated the Registry changes, but left a minor irritating flicker afterwards. The manual RegEdits did not.

So, I had to completely reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows all over again.
I always have a HDD Partition Image on both bootable DVD Disk as well as another copy on one of my SCSIs. Thus my reformatting Days are long over. 10 minutes later, its always back to where it was, so I can afford to bugger around with my Machine a bit.

That could give you what your looking for and leave smaller cpu/ram footprint.

Been using them since the days of 'Dosshell'.
None are as stable as the OS's ... most far too buggy, time I don't have to play with.
Besides, I really like the 'Windows Explorer' Interface and was looking for Tweaks I once had that I lost.

open one of those 20% windows..........drag it to the size you want
then hold the ctrl key as you close the window using the red ex.....the next time you open the window even after a reboot it should be the size that you set it as. | |
