| Testimonials! Posted: 9/28/2006 11:16:12 PM | That would defeat the purpose of the testimonial, No? | |
|
| Testimonials! Posted: 9/28/2006 11:17:07 PM | | If you don't want a testimonial on your profile, just delete.. not that difficult really. What is the big deal?? | |
|
| Testimonials! Posted: 9/28/2006 11:42:09 PM | | Yes! But when the testimonials defeats the purpose of finding a Suitable person in U'r Life ! Is this not the Reason behind POF - to help find that Someone? And where do we Draw the Line? After the damage is done? Jusy My view - but think it should be between the two parties only and no for everyone elses - Judgemental EYES! | |

| Testimonials! Posted: 9/29/2006 12:00:15 AM | If I sat here behind My lap-top 24-7 - then there wouldn't be no big deal. like I already said: Don't believe the testimonial(s) are for the Publics Viewing. What people have to say directly towards one another is - their own Business and not for others to Scrutinize. U wouldn't want any of U'r Messages to some - one to be Publicly posted? Same difference here. Deleting some thing After the Fact - doesn't Help Alliviate the problem either! Whether Good or Bad - I just don't believe that any message written to Me should be Validated By everyone on the Site. | |

If you're being honest with all these "may be the one" women you speak of, what's the problem
I could not agree with you more..
Also, OP, you can remidy your little "problem" by removing yourself from ALL these lady's favorites list, then they can't write testimonials and you won't have to sit behing your PC 24/7

| Testimonials! Posted: 9/29/2006 2:15:08 PM | OP: Remove people who may give you undesireable testimonials from your favorites' list, and then they can't post anything.
If there are some testimonials you don't like, delete 'em.
Please respond to My Hot-Mail only as this is the first time I have Been here and would not know how or where to look up U'r answer. Thank You. How on earth could I *possibly* know your hotmail address? Seems like not knowing how to use your inbox would be a bigger impediment to your future life than unwanted testimonials.
BTW, you don't have any posted. I had to scroll down about *a hundred paragraph returns* to discover that, though. Delete all those, too!

| Testimonials! Posted: 9/29/2006 5:36:11 PM | I would appreciate your help...I just noticed I have testimonials written about me but I can't figure out how to read them. Is there a setting I am missing. Help please! I haven't even met those who have written about me. Thanks a bunch. Kristine | |

| Testimonials! Posted: 9/29/2006 6:26:07 PM | ^^^^unless something's not working, I can't see any on your profile.
If there's been testimonials written about you, they would appear on your profile. Unless the author of the testimonial has deleted it, or has deleted their account.

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/1/2006 5:09:54 PM | What is the big deal about others seeing a testimonial about you. Are they unflattering? A testimonial is a public declaration about something, by definition. If you do not want testimonials, whether good or bad, ask the people you are interacting with to not post one. Since you are so concerned about the content of them, I can only assume they are not very nice and have possibly come from your actions.
Another little hint for you. If you are dating someone, it may be nice to let them know beforehand that you are "keeping your options open" by dating others. Just a hint.

Translation: I've got 3 or 4 ladies on the go and these damn testimonials are gonna cause me some trouble. Or rather, this is player talk for "The jig is up."
Please respond to My Hot-Mail only as this is the first time I have Been here and would not know how or where to look up U'r answer. Thank You. I think you find it under MAIL just above where your viewing your profile, sometimes I find the inbox ,where the answers are, when I sign in.

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 9:18:38 AM | I love the testimonials! I see it as not letting others know what they think of me, but letting ME know what they think of me. Makes me feel 'loved' and that's a warm fuzzy feeling! | |
|
| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 10:52:59 AM | you don't have any posted. I had to scroll down about *a hundred paragraph returns* to discover that. Delete all those I figured that was intentional. Keep those women he's playing from noticing the testimonials at the bottom of his profile, if they don't appear on the first screen. Like we don't know how to scroll | |

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 11:37:31 AM | Hi everyone,
I just would like to react about testimonials option.
First, I believe it is a good option as you would find it useful when you want to purchase online and read some comments about the service provider.
Second, comments are necessary to improve ourself as a miror reflect our strenghs and wiknesses. Even we would like to hear only the good one it might be a good feedback to keep it real and not been overconfident...
Of course, it doesn't make any sens for people you never been in contact with be able to leave a testiomonial. It is also a door open to frustrated person to whom you answered a polite no which they are satisfied of. But, I guess and hope that readers will use their common sens to detect what is true or false or be curious enough to go behond and check the true person behind this pages.
I just think that it should be transparant for both sides and each people should be able to read testimonials on him or herself and be able to react or comment it.
It probably should be a link we could click to read as this forum. For exemple, I was unable to clarify if I have testimonial on my profile and if so find where I could read them. If this option exist I think it would be my suggestion to POF.
Thank you fr reading me.
Good luck for everyone and wish you the best

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 2:34:59 PM | | Msg18: I was unable to clarify if I have testimonial on my profile and if so find where I could read them. If you have a testimonial, it shows at the bottom of your profile. Check out "somewhere...", to see what it looks like. If you can't find yours, you don't have any.
be able to react Feel free to delete it/them.
it doesn't make any sens for people you never been in contact with be able to leave a testiomonial Then don't put them on your favourites list, until you've been in contact with them. Because that's the ONLY way they can leave you a testimonial.
Msg10: For the other confused people up there, when it says "Testimonial" beside someone who has you on their favourites list, that means "click here to write a testimonial for this person". It does NOT mean they have left you one.

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 7:45:11 PM | Well I've just decided I dont want them either I put someone on block that either was having another bad day or just being an **** and I got to the point where I just didnt want to deal with it any more
I blocked Gone from Favs but the testimonial from them was still there? It wasnt mean - it was actually a nice one But I had to manually delete it
Then people noticed it wasnt there Set of all sorts of speculation And then same person goes to the threads making pointed comments about being blocked
This has happened to others too
Suggestion: When either party blocks testimonials disappear ( I thought that it would be auto but it seems its not)
Other suggestion: Make it against rules for a member to go posting on the forums they are blocked and saying what they they have to say publically when they cant say it privately any more.
I have now deleted ALL testimonials so that CONJECTURE and the ensuing GOSSIP wont occur again.

Any such threads are instantly deleted, when either spotted or reported. Threads that deal with other people on POF are prohibited, whether named, or insinuated, as all it serves is to further drama and negativity.
See the reference in the Posting Rules and Forum Rules - Specific

that should be an automatic - yes.

If you see such a Thread/Post, please report them here: Forum Rule Violations - Report Thread
And if you find such Data on a Profile, use the "Report Member" Link at the Bottom of any given User's Account. (You must be logged into your E-Mail for that link to appear at the bottom of anyone's Profile. And, this Link only shows up after 10 Log-Ins)

| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 9:19:39 PM | umm this is a very curious subject.
Most guys that are honest about why they are here have no problem with someone putting a testimonial on their profile.
What I have noticed is the guys who are players (or dating alot of women at the same time and not being honest) totally object to having the testimonials.. strange, huh??
|
| Testimonials! Posted: 10/3/2006 10:22:53 PM | Thanks Trapped and TTR
RE TESTIMONIALS: There might be a hiccup in the linkage? Favs disappeared as expected but the testimonial did not disappear with it.
Another issue with testimonials. Obsessive admirers or those competing for the attentions of of someone, pick up who the other contenders (supposedly) are and contact them sussing things out or making CLAIMS on the subject of admiration. I have had this happen despite being listed as friends and here for forums. The woman who contacted me had never spoken to me, and I had no idea who she was, claimed to admire my postings then went straight for "so whats the go between you and Mr XYZ" It wasnt a pleasant experience. There 'are' nutters out there ya know.
Re going to forums to spruke when blocked: I've seen quite a few of the comments on threads when people are blocked And they make it clear "I'm only posting this here because you have me blocked and I cant message you directly..." aka not their fault but brought on by necessity ...making it look like the blocker is an **** and collecting pity along the way...poor little me
Not happening so much in this case of mine - but I've seen quite a bit of it out there. And often the blocker blocked to avoid an attack or other unpleasantness, and is reluctant to report because it can actually get worse if the person is determined to hit back at them. Evidenced already by the fact they went to forums and wouldnt just 'go away' and play nicely.
Might it be an idea to spell it out in forum rules? IF you are BLOCKED and then got to forums to say what you have to say - time out for the rest of the day or something similar?
As it is now, the damage is already done even if the post(s) are removed, no repercussions to poster. So of course, it occurs, they know they can do the damage and get controversy happening with no consequences to them at all.
Thanks for the feeback, and POF rocks btw. It has a heartbeat. And you guys and admin do an amazing job making it a nice place to be
