In my area there has been this case on the TV news.....

This man ( grown man) took a neighbors cat
and tortured it to death......

AND VIDEO TAPED IT !

?

He first cut off its tail then an ear...
then set it on fire.. then stabbed it.

?

My gosh......... !!! what horror !!!!
the amimal control person was testifing in court about it
and had tears in her eyes.
They showed the cat post mortum and HOLY CRAP !
it was really, really awful...
The guy who did this is being tried in court and could get 10 years.

I think he should...
what do you think ?

how could someone do such a thing ?

ps.. if someone did that to MY DOG...
I dont know what I would do... but I doubt
I would just "cry".. as that would tick me off to
no end.

The mans father then comes on and asks the court to be
leinent with him saying he is "bipolar"..... OH GIVE ME A BREAK !
His son is totally freaking insane and a monster if you ask me.

opinions?

I hope he enjoys the prison showers.

Didn't most serial killers start out by
torturing and killing animals?

If I remember correctly, that's how Jeffrey Dalmer got his start. Ten years isn't enough

Bipolar? He's a friggin Nazi!

I started donating to animal charities a long time ago and these kinds of horrible things go on all the time.

There's a lot of evil in this world

And yes, I think they should start making people who do these things spend a few years in jail.

I'm not sure about the laws concerning
this type of thing...
but apparently ........... PEOPLE DO THIS ALL THE TIME.

this is the third HORRIFFIC thing of the same type
this month on the news.
the others were a man who pulled a pony behind a car...
a man who set a pit bull on fire...

are people getting crazier or are we just finding out
how crazy they can be due to technology?
I really wonder.

For killing a cat?
People rape children and kill other human beings and rape women, beat peopel within an inch of their life, etc etc etc and get less than that.

Weird.

Anyhoo, Im glad that guy is being charged. WHat a wacko!!!

Alot of people are cruel to animals. Its pretty sick actually, and most of the time nobody finds out about it, unless its caught on tape, or reporters get involved somehow.

Someone mentioned that killers start small, and eventually progress to humans.
I think that was scientifically proven somewhere.

Freaks of nature, I tell ya!

Absolutely horrific, I am a hardcore pet lover so I can't even watch stuff like that on shows where I know the person has been brought to justice. It just breaks my heart that someone would torture or hurt another living thing that cannot defend itself, that includes human beings especially children. There's a special kind of hell for pieces of crap like that, and I hope when they get there, they get the same torture they dished out repeatedly with no end.

May this guy get 10 years, and get introduced to a broom handle.

In my state {Washington} there is Pascos law created because of some teens tourturing a poor donkey. This law makes it so these sicko's can be prosicuted for such a crime.
Byrd I would never think of you as a possium killer.
I love my animals and really wouldnt want them hurt. Some people need help don't they?

Rather than a rationalization that insinuates the guy should not get so harsh a penalty, you should rationalize from the opposite perspective to justify harsher penalties for violent offenders.
Personally, I have advocated bringing back the stocks IN ADDITION TO the current sentences we give to violent offenders.
Public spankings would also be a good thing.
Nothing like being put on display in an embarassing way to make a person think over what they've done wrong.

Think about it. A Hell's Angels type guy, having his pants pulled down, and having his bare ass spanked in front of the general public until he screams.
Makes it a hell of a lot tougher to keep that macho image.
Easy to wear a tough-guy face when you're being led out of the courtroom after being sentenced.
Pretty hard to do when you're being spanked in public.

A woman in Japan took a kitten, put him on the ground and forced her stiletto heal through it's eye. Yes people you read that correctly. It's eyes. Meanwhile, her boyfriend videotaped the incident.

Cruelty to animals is an indicator that something is wrong with that person.

I can't even begin to tell you what I think should be done to them.

FiestyBlonde,

I have to agree with you. This was an awful act!
Where is the outcry when these things happen to women, children and the homeless, etc? Have we become that numb to these sickening acts? Most felons, when they plead usually get out of prison faster than those serving time in county jail. The two boys that beat an older man in Snohomish both get out in 4 or 6 months. Our system is NOT in balance!

Wait a minute. Are some people here saying that just because people are hurting children and women and so forth and might not be getting the deserved punishment we are NOT supposed to judge animal cruelty?

I don't understand why it's being compared in the first place. Why is that brought into the mix?

Are we supposed to be less outraged?

Not at all, I was just interested in reading that he might get up to ten years in prison.
Which is great, dont get me wrong, but....well..my point was lost, so I'll stick to the cat.

Im neutral on the topic. I agree that he should be punished for killing the cat, but I dont agree that he should only get ten years, while a rapist or murder could get less.

I dont have a severe love for animals, nor do I hate them. I'm neutral.

Fiesty,

I assume you mean you don't agree he should get 10 years when rapsist or murderers can get less.

I think the reason anmial cruelty offenders are severely punished is that when it comes to cruelty to animals it's pretty cut and dry. The offender can't really argue any mitigating circumstances. It's usually easier to prove that he did what he did. I also think the reason is that judges wants to send a strong message since quite a few serial murders started out as animal killers and torturers.

Does it help? I doubt it.

I can see why it's puzzling that they can get a more severe sentence but I'd like to turn it around and say that animal killers should not get a lesser sentence than people killers. I think people killers should get a MORE severe sentence than animal killers and animal killers should be punished severly.

I'm not sure what you want to say with your last statement but regardless if you love animals or not. They are still living, breathing, pain feeling creatures that is doing us no harm and someone killing them should be punished. It's about respect for other living things.

I understand what you are saying biker :)

All im saying, is that it isnt fair that an animal killer would get more time than a human killer.

If a man raped and killed your sister and got 5 years, but the man who killed your animal got 8 years.....how is that fair? ( hypothetically speaking, and not speaking directly to you biker..:) )

Anyhoo, I'm out of this debate, it could get heated pretty fast, with alot of flaming coming my way for thinking that human victims deserve better justice than animals.

Yes I understand fiesty and yes it doesn't seem right. I think we all can agree on that. Cruelty in any way shape or form is not right.

Sometimes it's iffy though. If someone killed an animal in a very cruel manner and someone killed a lowlife drug dealer who made a living out of getting kids hooked on drugs I think I'd rather see the animal killer more punished than the man who got rid of the drug dealer.

"human victims deserve better justice than animals" who wants better, i want EQUAL
justice. someone who would torture and kill an animal should be locked up. so should ones who do such things to people
lack of justice for one doesn't mean less justice for another. in Michigan rape and murder is life without parole.
