pardon ****ing me all to hell

it was an observation i pointed out when i was in town. every guy it seems needs to wear their collars upwards and I just dont understand the fad whatsoever. Bon Jovi looked cool in it 20 years ago, but with the 10-coloured AE shirts guy sport....give me a break.

Hehe!!! Yeah, I hear ya. I mention this in another thread. When I see the guys standing in front of a mirror in the bathroom priming themselves up and making sure the collar is up just right, I want to flip them down and then say "There, that looks better."

you aren't alone - either of you - this popper collar nonsense is one of those drab trends that you see a lot of tasteless people or people who have no taste even going around dressed like a retard...honestly....unless your name is Elvis Presley you clearly have not heeded(sp?) any advice your mother gave you on how to dress yourself. Though if you are dressing yourself at whatever age you are at, like that still...well maybe your mom ought to be slapped for doing such a bang-up job on teaching thier beloved how to dress themselves...jmho

some waitresses in some establishments go as far as to walk by, notice, and take it upon themselves to pop someone's collar if its not popped

Personally I think SOME guys pull the look off well. But it does depend on the style of the shirt too.

That used to be something I did all the time..loved it. IN 1980. But everything gets recycled anyway. There are no new trends..they are just old trends that are brought back. People have no imagination.

I think its sexy. I like a guy with a popper collar, fitted jeans, euro sneaks, very nice. Its very vancouver two years ago though haha, we take too long to catch on.

okay though, chris, is it a sexy look overall - or does it depend on the shirt/guy/style?

well nothing is 100% good on everyone!! like skinny jeans or leggings, doesnt work for everyone. But majority of guys I see with popped collars are able to pull it off. Or maybe its just the ones I look at? haha

Definitely. Let's just say that Hugh Jackman could wear a six-inch shirt lapel, polka-dotted tie, ankle-high polyester dresspants, white socks and sandles and I'd STILL call him hot.

It's a metrosexual thing. Guys who actually know how to change a timing belt, change tires and start fires don't do such things. Anyone who tries to flip my collars up will be backhanded without warning. This seems to be something that some of these new fairy boy bands do nowadays.

Are these the same guys who buy $4000 late 1980's BMW's and Mercedes so they can look like what rich guys looked like 20 years ago?

Definately not good. I think any moron going around with a popped collar better still be in high school pretending he's cool, otherwise it's just lame!

I want to fix the collars, straighten the hats and supply suspenders for all the "G-Units" that don't know how to wear their clothing properly. Drives. Me. CRAZY!

[Guys who actually know how to change a timing belt, change tires and start fires don't do such things.]

Beautiful generalizations. Fashion and function dont always go hand in hand. People assume things with me, because Im always dressed up, because I dont own a tshirt, because my hair is always done, that I am a snotty, prissy, uptight ****. Always shocks people to know that I can set up a surround sound system, that I can solder, that I can play guitar, that I refill my own washer fluid, ooh la la. Quick judgements can get in the way.

See, I prefer that to TAPERED JEANS on men. Sorry dudes. Also, I dont want to see your mooseknuckle cause your jeans are too high and tight.

LOL christini, thanks for the giggle, you are SO right (says a gal who always gets those big-eyed "you?" looks when I talk about the jeep I rebuilt or the car I drag raced).

And I agree on the generalizations. My brother is a high-performance engine mechanic/builder who can build a 500hp+ kick-a** Corvette engine like no one else but when he showers to go out.....gasp, he uses hair gel, shaves, and wears stylish duds. It IS possible to be a man AND a metrosexual. And damn, it's a sexy thing when a man can pull off both!

You???

haha just had to say it. I get the same thing even when I bring my mountain bike in for repairs. Why is it, when guys see a muddy jeep or heavy duty mountain bike, the first question they ask a girl is which guy they know who owns it?

I think it looks hot on alot of guys..I don't know I always liked that whole preppy popped collar american eagle look...But like alot are saying..it is a certain guy who can pull it off. He would have to be one of those guys who don't give a damn about what others think of him having a popped collar.

(p.s....that wasn't meant to offend anyone)
