The men are gonna love that question. Why do men have the right to remove their shirts on a nice sunny day and women don't without being arrested. Could you imagine all the accidents that would result in men being distracted by the woman walking down the street. The insurance premiums would sky rocket. LOL Victoria Secret's bra sales would go down. In all seriousness should a law be passed for this. What happens if a man accidently brushes his arm or hand on the ladies boobs. Will she make a police report. What about the small kids being exposed to this. Could you see yourself in a restaurant sitting across a lady who's boobs have collided with the floor. Yikes !!! Could me me. He! He! I'm sure that it would be weird at first but after awhile society (even men) would be decensitized to it. It wouldn't be more shocking then seeing a man without his shirt on. Maybe women wouldn't be seen as sex objects anymore. Then again, maybe this would be an open invitation to all the perverts of this world.

Legal in Ontario for a few years, but you rarely see it. Maybe on the beach now and then.

It's been legal in Ontario for years and yet you never see women going topless. The day they legalize it my friends and I bared all and caused a 4 hour traffic jam on younge street.

I think the laws are fine the way they are.

OMG can you imagine....do not think that will happen....lol...imagine all the accidents that would be caused by the nice rack jogging down the road!! Eating dinner and half naked chicks walking by that have bad tits hanging to their knees!! You know that is what would happen...it would be all the bad titties that would be naked...just like nude beaches being filled with old or fat people...LMAO!~!

Being legal in Ontario you would think that you would see them all the time but you don't.

I you don't mind your mother, sister, girlfriend, wife or daughter going around topless then vote for it.
For me I'm a bit old fashioned. I value moral tradition and believe we could be alittle better than animals although sometimes I wonder.

So going topless would put women in the same category as animals?

This whole thing is just another control issue, if men had more of it, we could go topless...
I do have to agree with Spankie tho...the insurance industry would love it...

I think I would lose all sexually derived impulses to grab those suckers or put them in my mouth ...

and that wouldn't be good ...

maybe they could just legalize flashing the puppies ... to keep things interesting instead.

Maybe they could bring back the fashions of the old days when women actually wore clothes that accentuated them more....put em right out there, so to speak...

I agree with Pointzero! If you don't mind your daughter running around with her tits exposed to all kinds of perverts, then hell, by all means be in favor of legalizing this.

This brings up another point, which is that the past 10 years or so have witnessed an increasing loss of dignity among women, as they've become less and less respectful of their bodies and chosen to behave as if they were walking the boulevard. The message from women has become, "I have such little self-confidence that I have to show you my tits so you'll love me. Please f**k me or I'll feel inferior."

Strangely, it hasn't happened with men. They have retained their dignity AND are still HOT!

Thanks to all the people mentioning it being legal in Ontario. I wasn't aware of that fact. Just goes to prove that when you make something legal often times the thrill is gone. If marijuana was legal I'm sure it would be less appealing on some level. It's often times about wanting what we can't have. The fact that it's legal in Ontario and nobody seems to be taking advantage of it speaks volumes. I'm sure not every woman would be comfortable flashing her boobs. Maybe it's a bad body image or something. I'm sure the day the law passed in Ontario alot of women did go topless just to prove a point and never did it after that. I think people in Canada and the US are too uptight about sex. Everything on tv is censored. What ever happened to changing a channel if you don't like it. Let the rest of us watch the program without the bleeps. If you look at other cultures is very different. Places in Europe for example. Topless beaches are the norm or so it appears. They see the body as being beautiful. Why hide it. They don't see it as dirty or nasty. I say if you have it flaunt it but not in a way that is offensive to others. A bit of integrity is required.

Ritz, I agree. The body is beautiful. Not, however, where there exists a double standard whereby the woman is the exhibitionist begging for attention, while the man is fully dressed. We are surrounded by that.

In an equal world, I'd have no trouble with a topless, bottomless, hatless world.

Until men drop their pants in public, we women need to keep just as covered up as they.

Ritz,,I have only one answer for your question. It just won't work. De-sensitize? No way. This is just an area in our current, past, and future eras that will not be changed. Women's breast are just too much of the package that stirs men too much. Social views and mores will never permit the routine exposure of total breasts in public. It sure won't happen in my lifetime, and I can't really encourage such an idea except in situations where the exposure is expected, and limited. No, breast exposure is part of the package that arouses the male libido, and I think it's necessary to keep breasts covered for the most part due to the huge numbers of uncontrolled male perverts out there who will regard it as a come on for a hit. It would be unwise of women to expose themselves publicly, and that is a majority opinion I think.

I was talking to someone about how provacative clothing can be these days and I freely admit that I'm gonna notice if someone is dressed that way. However, I explained that I get far more turned on by what I can't see than by seeing virtually everything.

Generation Y (as in "Why care?") just isn't phased that much by blatent displays of sexuality. Ludeness has become the rule rather than the exception. Or maybe I'm wired differently than the average guy because I often get far more aroused by what I can't see than what I can.

When it comes down to it, in a dark room, one female body is very similar to another female body. There are obviously variables... but a female form is a female form. Yet some nice clothing can make a woman stand out in a good way. The women who dress the most provocatively will get a lot of extra negative attention and no law will change that.

Society isn't ready for it. Breasts are still viewed as objects of sexuality, far far more than men's chests. If it ever changes, it will be a long time, yet. However, don't judge society stagnant, women get away with wearing a hell of a lot less than they did, say, 50 years ago.

I hate to sound old-fashioned and closed minded or whatever, but I have a problem with what society is teaching kids. Britney Spears, and MTV culture in general is a very influencing factor in some kids lives. Unfortunately they are sending very bad messages. As adults we understand that when icons and celebritys bare skin, it is just because it boosts record sales. But these are the role models for our children. Certain media is teaching kids that treating women as objects isn't just ok... it is expected. 13 year old girls are wearing tummy shirts, low rider jeans, and getting boob-jobs.

I think it's great that women feel comfortable expressing themselves sexually. But self-respect, class, and dignity are essential as well.

now... with that said... I probably wouldn't complain about seeing women walking around topless. I live in the midwest where the average person(over 60% of the public) is clinically overweight or obese. Imagine walking into wal-mart and everyone is topless... I think I'd rather not see that yikes lol.

let me understand this... so you guys are saying that there is soemthing definitely wrong with the human body and we should keep it secret... not only that, but we can not be safe, since all of us are so idiotic we might not be able to restrain ourselves when seeing a naked body.

omg, we definitely should go back to the middle ages and enforce rules to force women and men alike to have their body covered at all times... there is so much shame in having nipples, u know... and we cant definitely wear a thong, only regular bikini by the pool, because that extra inch of ur ass is just such an abominable crime to show... actually we should go even further and wear those long hemp gowns and whip ourselves for having a body, further more sex should be only for procreation and u better not enjoy it, and if someone even sees an ankle, we should mark those people with the scralet letter S from shame.

i mean i cannot believe even the starter of this post... topless? meaning showing kids boobs??? can u imagine the shame? omg, they might grow up less f**d up by a society that teahces them sexuality and the human body are topics still taboo they should be ashamed of.

uggh,,, no no no, we cant let that happen!

we are such an enlightened bunch, aren't we... no wonder this entire world is disfunctional.

LOL

To me, the bigger issue is that humanity is in a precarious situation where we are amazingly advanced technologically, while we are amazingly retarded on a social level. Our social structures and values haven't managed to catch up with our intellects. It's very hard to undo thousands of years of social structure. The best thing we can do is change on an individual basis and push for changes at a grassroots level.

We are the only beings in the history on earth that have the aptitude to destroy that which gives us life. We can literally make this planet uninhabitable for any form of life, and we will do exactly that if we don't make changes eventually. However, nature has a way of balancing things. One way or another I'm sure things will work out. Topless women's rights are near the bottom of my list.

Sorry for the philosophical ranting...
