Rush are one of the tightest musicially progressive rock groups still around. If you have any doubt that they can still rock, especially after a string of so so albums until the recent Vapor Trails, then go out and buy the live in concert DVD Rush In Rio. Putting this on will blow you away. They actually still love playing the old songs and it shows.

I've always loved Farewell to King and Hemispheres. They went downhill a bit when they focused more on keyboards.

I am a big fan of Alex Lifeson's liquid guitar runs. I think Working Man should be voted best air guitar song of all time. Heh.

Rush is WAY before my time, but they are friggin awesome...my teacher in high school made us listen to Rush during our economics class, so I grew to like their music.

Love 'em, great band. Geddy's falsetto can get a little irritating sometimes but they put on an awesome show. Howard's lighting designs are always fantastic, and Jack Secret made the shows better than the albums.

I remember learning how to play YYZ in high school with friends, we thought we were sooooo cool!

I guess im at the right forum, okay Rush fans. my real user name is New world Man. but i bet you can pretty much guess where the name Ghostrider came from. but anyways if you want some rush trivial question please let me know i have all their music. including the new one feedback. it rocks. but i really my favorite rush eps are Hemispheres and permanant waves, signals,Vapor trail,Moving pictures. Hold your fire, Power windows, Roll the bones, Presto, Counter Parts, A farewell to Kings,Grace under pressure, a show of hands. exit stage left,Rush in Rio,Test for Echo, i am a true rush fan i love geddy lees voice because some people wish they can hit those high notes.

have seen many Rush and Ironmaiden shows.these guys do not get enought credit. especially when it come to rock and roll hall of fame issues. but ill leave that one alone. rush is my favorite rock band becasue they are so diversed in their music. they are a master thinking band. and Neil Peart is definitely one of the worlds best Percussionist. he writes lyrics for the band and dont have any time to sing. but if you have any question about the band let me know.

Whatever happened to there original drummer, John Rutsey? Did he drop off the face of the earth when Neil joined the band? Xanadu i sone of my favorite tunes by Rush. Forgot what album that came off though. My "ex" decided that all om my C.D.'s and albums were hers when we split up 6 years ago. And she hated Rush! Lets see, Farewell to Kings, is that the right album for Xanadu?

Rush does indeed rule!

My favorite album is the under-appreciated "Fly by Night". Also love "Farewell to Kings", and "Caress of Steel".

wow .. I didn't realize this thread had taken off !

toonsmith: The Rush in Rio DVD is excellent, and I definately recommend
in to any fan or even if you have an interest in them. It's great quality,
and has a huge range of their works.
I'm around the same point as you in what I think was their best works,
although Hemispheres is THE number one for me. It was the first album
I heard by them, and I was hooked (like a Fish ? :) )

xander: I didn't know that trivia, but then again, I don't watch that show ;)
Did you ever catch the episode of Trailer Park Boys featuring Bubbles as
Alex's guitar man ? Was pretty cool.
Alex is set to go before trial for those charges down in Florida very soon.
Sounds like he partyed a bit too hearty.

Klo: Cool that your teacher did that. Because their music is not of a typically
defined genre, it makes it more open to all ages to appreciate.
I took my oldest son whom was 10 at the time to the Vapor Trails concert.
He thought it was great.

Stubobb: Looked at your profile, but I'm not sure what instrument you play(ed).
YYZ was a cool song..I remember many a day trying to get that one down.
I think some of my fav songs are the instrumentals (La Villa Stragiatto),
but I however love Geddy's unique and odd voice.

ghostrider: You hear they are planning on making a movie out of Neil's Ghost Rider book?

Gary: I don't know what happened to John Rutsey. Anytime I have had a look for info,
I could find nothing. I do believe it was him that bailed on Rush for a number of reasons
and maybe he's still kicking himself in the ass? ('course, the music would have never
been near the same).

There was a point in time when i thought i had read something about John Rutsey, but, you know how that goes. Never believe everything you read! Seems to me what I had read about him was he did leave the band on his own choosing, as he felt they were never going to amount to anything, and he wanted to pursue other interest. But, have never heard anything from him since. Just pick up the Rush in Rio D.V.D. a couple of months ago. WOW! What a performance. Geddy Lee has never ceased to amaze me, his transitions from bass to keyboards, and triggering midi devices along the way while singing and never missing a beat. Wonder if the band pays him more because of his many duties? lol

There's a guy in the tent on the side of the stage that helps out a LOT.

Hey, a little humor there, after all, in the Rush in Rio D.V.D. we see Geddy playing keyboards, bass, acoustic, tauras peddles, and singing. Should at least get time and a half for all that! Probably 10 guys in a tent to help out!

Rush has done so much throughout the years, and gone their own way when they wanted..Stayed true to themselves in many ways.
My preference: Everything up to Moving Pictures.....after that I kind of fell out of touch

Now I swore I saw Lifeson had a solo album somewhere, was that my imagination?

Alex Leifson had a solo C.D. somewhere along the line inthe mid to late 90's. Dont recall the year, as the C.D. was loaned out, never returned, and i havent replaced it. The name of the C.D. was "Victor".

Rush will be r@wking for Stephen Colbert. They're appearing on his show tonight (07/16/08). I think they're gonna play Tom Sawyer.

I can't believe no one has mentioned how awesome 2112 is??? As great as Rush still continues to Rock, 2112 will always be My favorite.
One great thing Rush does is put their albums into a story, right before 2112, Caress of Steel got me hooked with the Necromancer, that song still sends shivers up my spine.
Great thread...Rock on
