do you find this a turn on reading literature that has sex in it,does it turn you on as much as watching a dvd, seen as you have to use your imagination to visualize the act?

Well supposedly men are more visual than women, so it should be then that women prefer reading about it. I think it may come down to how you were introduced to it. For me it was reading stories and I find them just as stimulating as watching, sometimes more so. i also write erotica, that's how much I like it.

I have to agree with the poster above me. Men are more visual. However, women seem to write erotica much better because they tend to write with passion better than men can.

I kinda like both....when your reading it-you have to be more imaginative...which is good...but...
sometimes I just want to watch it being done...

Reading it for sure...
on my bookshelf; the authors are woman. Often the woman writer
is extending and exposing herself, the most intimate part
of her personal life/thoughts through her stories.

Woman writers of erotica promote more of the adventure, enjoyment and
positive aspects of female sexuality. One to be celebrated..

did you ever see rocky and bullwinkle with the beautiful russian spy and when they were in trouble she would say "quickly give yourselves up" to rocky and the moose, and rocky would say, "what about you?", and she would say "I'm too important to be captured"? That's what I thought of when I read your profile calgarybelle! Not very self indulgent are you? Beautiful sexy, rich, famous, makes me wonder HOW you find the time for the little people

okay sorry i wasn't trying to be mean, and it was out of context. One little pici wouldn't hurt though, it's only a harmless dating/forum site. And you know, men generally aren't good at reading between the lines!

I find that reading it is much more of a turn on than watching on DVD, probably because they over do things on video and my imagination is really good.

I like to write it (and other stuff) and my blog site is listed on my profile.

One of the best writers of it that I have found so far is male so I would say that both men and women can write it well.

No DVD or video turns me more on than a novel filled with ingredients of lust, sizzling sex, a plot of twists and double - crosses, magnetism hanging in the air. My imagination is set on fire and passion inside, yeah, it does increase my body temperature

I totally agree with Bella for when you write it . it gives it that personal touch not staged and when it is sponatnious the oh so much better . it doesnt have to be world renouned to move you. A sentance fromt eh right person can make your body awaken with pure delight. To be moved by ones words can be so thrilling with an imagination that can drive one wild should not be kept silent yet spoken softly and yet so loud.

I find it can go both ways. I have days where the Erotica turns me on if I haven't read any for a long while. But there are other days where Porn turns me on. Depends on the subject and people in it really lol

I have my own website of stories and poetry, most of them being erotica. I have 14 different Authors and 6 different poets who write for my website. Naturally I can't post the address here but you can write me for it. We've had very good response from the website and many women say they prefer a well written story over a movie. The idea behind the site was to provide women with a place to go that is not as crude as the porn sites, yet they can be comfortable indulging in a good erotic fantasy. Oddly enough, I get just as much email from men complimenting the site as I do women. Men are much more visual than women. Still a well done erotic story tends to appeal more to people of intelligence who enjoy more of the passion to be found in erotica that the hard core emptiness the more graphic sites cater too. I have both male and female writers on the site and depending on what mood I am in as to which one I prefer. The women can be more eloquent, but the men can be more intense. Both of them are enjoyable.
