| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 3:57:53 PM | | I've tried many of them, and right now I use Opera. I preferred Firefox, but since it's popularity, the d*mn spyware/adware/virus programmers spoiled it for me. I toyed around with Maxthon, which was nice, but was freezing when it encountered some scripts, so I chucked it. Avant just felt awkward, and didn't last long. Opera seems to have many options I liked in the others, and it seems to not have the compatibility issues as Firefox, etc. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 4:07:57 PM | | i use avant browser...it's not really a stand alone browser..it's more like a shell for IE, but it's waaaaaay better than IE | |
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 5:23:05 PM | | I use firefox- much beter than IE - no hanging/crashing, no popups, no worrying about viruses coming thru poor MS progrgamming - the list goes on... | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 6:47:32 PM | Firefox 1.0.2 - updated today, actually. It still *does* crash on occasion but that's life. I need to do a clean install of XP but don't have time.
Be careful, Excalibur. Shells of IE (including AOL) are still at risk of security issues. If you like wraparounds, try Maxthon.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 7:49:41 PM | | Yeah, I liked Firefox, and never would have gotten rid of it, but it seems some of the sites I go to don't agree with it too much (don't ask). I was getting constant pop-ups and redirections. It's a great browser, but I think it will soon be as bad as IE, because of that popularity. The IE shell browsers like Avant, Maxthon, and (I think) Opera may have some security issues, but they also have features you can't get with Firefox. Firefox is pretty selective about the scripts it will run, and some sites will get buggy. IE shells are usually more stable. If they can get Maxthon to run correctly and not crash because it doesn't recognize a plug-in on a page, I'd go back to it in a minute. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/23/2005 9:44:48 PM | | I simply use the "IE View" extension for Firefox. If I hit a page that doesn't seem to be displaying correctly, I can right-click it and select "View this page in IE". | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/24/2005 11:45:06 AM | Firefox for 2 great reasons:
Tabbed browsing No problems with spyware/trojans/active x compenents
these extensions keep getting better, i love the All-In-One-Gestures. makes life easy when i don't have to click on buttons all the time to get around :)
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/24/2005 1:21:34 PM | | mouse gestures are a godsend. It only takes about 5 seconds to get hooked on 'em and never want to surf without 'em. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/24/2005 2:46:09 PM | At the moment I have these installed. I love to play around with different programs. ;)
GreenBrowser, Internet Explorer, K-Meleon, Maxthon, Mozilla Firebird, NetCaptor, Opera, Netscape Navigator.
Seems to me there was 2 other ones I tried that wouldn't even load when I installed them but I'd have to go back through my records to see what one's they were.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/25/2005 7:17:40 PM | JARG, can you (or anyone who has used those programs) give me some comments about some of those programs? What do you like about them, dislike, do you like any of them better than others, do any have some particular features you really like? I'm speaking mainly of the more obscure ones you listed:
GreenBrowser K-Meleon NetCaptor Netscape Navigator (is this the new beta that recently came out?)
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/25/2005 8:45:21 PM | K-Meleon is a Windows-based web browser based on Gecko, the Mozilla rendering engine. I find this browser a very nice one to use. And it's free.
GreenBrowser is an IE based browser offering tabbed, multi-page browsing . Seems ok too. Also free. I seem to have less problems with it then IE.
NetCaptor is based on the Internet Explorer engine has built-in pop ups blocker, tabbed browsing. A Very good browser. I'm actually quite impressed with it but it's not free!
An older Netscape Communicator 4.77 is the one I have. It's kind of a crappy browser, pretty slow. I don't really recommend this one. I think I mainly use it for the messenger POP email client. I don't know what the newer Netscape is like.Never tried that.
Overall I recommend Giving K-Meleon and GreenBrowser a try if you want a different flavor. They seemed pretty stable to me, they're free and you can uninstall them if you don't want them.

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/25/2005 9:45:37 PM | | Ok. Currently running K-Meleon. It's pretty d*mn fast. It uses the same programming as Firefox (I believe) and we'll see if it's anymore pop-up resistant than FF. I don't like the lack of fully customizable mouse gestures, tho. Maybe there's a patch or something for that. | |

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/27/2005 3:21:02 PM | IE, Firefox, Netscape are all installed on my main machine because I need to test websites that I develop. IE is used for compatibility with most websites, Firefox for tabs and extensions although is still has some bugs that need to be worked out. Netscape only for testing..

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/28/2005 7:10:35 PM | Firefox w3m is also good. I like w3mmee actually because of the image capabilities that it has even though it's a text browser/pager. :)

| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/29/2005 1:12:23 AM | | There is no other browser but Firefox. Lynx when I have to hack. wget when I need to download a ton of porn all at once. | |
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/30/2005 11:30:35 PM | I have used Firefox, testing it for the last 5 days ...
Here is what I don't like about it:
1. The Browser is Sticky, jerky and hesitant - not smooth. 2. Cursor sometimes bounces around or will not set down elsewhere. 3. Display less pleasing than IE. 4. URL single-click 'selecting' way too slow. 5. No complete full Screen View. 6. Back/Forward Button sometimes unresponsive. 7. No full Instant overview of Image Properties Box' URL if too long. 8. Browser refresh every 4- 5 seconds interfereing with commands.
... but worst of all, its yet the most unresponsive Browser I have ever used.
... Uninstalling it ... going back to IE.
|
| What browser do you use? Posted: 3/31/2005 1:16:50 AM | | That sounds like a thing wholly unlike my experience. Are you running Windows (tm) and Spyware(tm)? | |
