Posted: 10/23/2006 9:00:51 AM | I often wonder who is your strengh in life ..who do you look up too and respect in life.....For me its my EX mominlaw...she was there while my own mom died...birth of my children....This woman is so gentle spirited and has a heart of gold...She was like a mom I lost and a beautiful freind in life. To this day I keep in touch with her and her husband..they have never done me any wrong and always treated me like a daughter..Never a harsh word has passed thier lips...
When I get down and out she is who I call....Is there any others who can speak highly of someone in thier life that they can talk tooo???

Unfortunately I don't have anyone like that... you know... someone I can trust to talk to about my problems.

Da Hitman, I'm very much the same. I honestly don't have anyone that I can say anything to and know that what I said will be kept in strict confidence and spread around like a wildfire. I have a wonderful family and all, but they like to blab about people behind their backs. I learned a long time ago that if you want to take care of something you have to take care of it yourself, and be careful who you tell.  | |

I'm lucky for having such friends. I know my bestfriends from the kindergarden, that makes it now 28 years.
Then I have 3 other friends who I can count on.

Posted: 10/23/2006 9:37:37 AM | The list is endless, I have many special people in my life who not only have touched me but made me the person I am today. They are all very amazing and beautiful people. Family and friends included.
I am also stunned by the amount of people who touch my heart on a daily basis, usually strangers or aquaintances. The customer who notices I'm not having such a great day and brings me a flower and asks me to smile. The phonecall from someone I haven't seen in 2 years just to tell me they're thinking about me and wondering how I'm doing. The lady who goes to heck and back to try and get an older gentleman's wallet back to him intact and then never leaves her name or asks for anything in return. The things that may seem silly to others but bring a tear to my eye and make me stop and think this isn't such a bad place to be.

Posted: 10/23/2006 10:34:38 AM | Many people come into and out of our lives. I have had many come into my life at some point and have touched me in ways words just could not convey. I appreciate each and every one of them for bringing that special "something" into my life.
My strength in life comes from many sorces. Some of it comes from my KIDS. They can just sometimes bring ya down to earth when ya need it...lol. They are reasons for much happiness and joy. Then there is strength I get from my Parents. Always there with thier words to encourage, praise or just wisdom from years of "experience". Then of course the few "true" friends I have that have seen me in good/bad times, happy/sad times and are always there with their shoulders to cry on, ears for listening and lips for saying what I need to hear(boot in butt for being somewhat dumb) and knowing what I say stays with them.
Lastly I find a lot of strength in ME. Many times we forget how strong we really are until we find ourselves in a situation and we just find that inner strength. So for me, My strength comes from many people and myself and I would never change any of it. I just thank my lucky stars that I have/had ALL those wonderful people in my life.

He brings a smile to my face and our plans are so Diabolical - soooo bloody brilliant I can laugh sooo hard at how pathetic some problems are...... lol

Posted: 10/23/2006 11:14:57 AM | well, I'm blessed to have many people in my life who unselfishly cared for me in one way or another however whom i gather my strength from the most? Who do i look up to the most and is beautiful to me the most? My boys
When i see them do kind, gentle things like when my oldest befriends a special needs boy at the playground because no one else would or when my toddler takes a lil girl by the hand and helps her off the ground. When they give me their last cookie or ask for a hug... just because they wanted to.
They've been thru so much and could completely act out but they don't.Their hearts in such tiny bodies are bigger than most ive seen.. sometimes including mine. I'm ashamed and in awe.

Actually, He's always been there for you, without question or reason. And you can trust Him totally. If you take the time to know Him you will admire Him, love Him and be inspired by Him. So sad how easily we forget Him. | |

Posted: 10/23/2006 1:29:16 PM | I have 2 very good friends that I know I can tell them just about anything. And that its safe with them. One of them is a busy mom right now, and I sometimes feel like she's more interested in telling me her news rather than hearing mine, but lately she has proven me wrong. And the other lives in Toronto so I haven't seen her in acouple years, but I always call her when I'm lonely/bored/excited/upset lol and she does the same for me. And then when they are both otherwise occupied there is POF.
Also now starting a new relationship and we have pretty good communication, so far, but its still new.
Oh yeah and my mom! there is only one topic that we can get heated about, so I try to avoid it, but other than that we have an excellent relationship. Lol for a period of time in junior high when most people are moving away from their parents she became my bestfriend when I had a fall out with mine. | |

Sometimes, a problem or uncertainty is too close to home for my 'family' to be able to help with, and my POF friends can give me the insight I need to make the right choice. Posted: 10/23/2006 7:27:00 PM | Yeah I can honestly say I have someone like that in my life. She has been there for 20 years, since we were 4 & 5. We went through school together, boyfriends, apartments, tears, fears, laughs, pregnacy, the terrible twos, and much much more. Were still the best of friends, we can call at 3am and just be there for each other no matter what. She is my friend, confidant, and most of all my "sister".
More recently another person of such character, and value has also sprinkled such light in my life. He is amazingly tender, caring, and loving, has never intentionally hurt me, and would jump in front of a moving car for me. We can talk about anything, and take stuff to the ends of the earth together.....
So I am blessed with not only one, but two people who have touched my heart and are beautiful to me..... | |

He usually forces a bunch of unwanted advice on me which I am loathing to take, but he tirelessly and annoyingly gives it anyway. He is my business partner and, in many ways, my mentor. I call him “Dad” (because I adopted him) and he calls me “son” (for short).
He is a beautiful guy, but don't tell him I said so; his ego couldn't stand the strain. | |

Most of my freinds and family don't live around me with out it being long distance. Cell phones don't work here, and our phone serves in the country sucks, no cheap calls to their area. | |

Do y’all know that a guy keeps the mother in law, even decades after his wife dies? Yeah, that’s true, it seems. But she was a very beautiful lady. Everyone else in her family died, and so she was stuck with me as family. She was always very nice. Problem was that she looked and acted exactly like her daughter and so that always kept my memories churning when maybe they should have faded some.
And then came Rebecca, a beautiful younger woman with a strong distaste for men after she was captured and abused for many days. Guys were hitting on her at a meeting and she said she would never return again. I told her to sit with me, I’m too old for her and not a threat and the other guys would stay away. Later, her psychologist, and then her M.D., called to talk with me because, as they said, I was the only man she would talk with or about. We became friends, attended two functions a week together and over three years always talked (and sat) together exclusively. So, I spent a few hundred hours with her as a guy-fried. Just cause I could.
But there was also Alice, a very prominent person in my life for a while. Alice needed nothing from me, we just enjoyed friendship. She had probably one of the quickest and funniest minds I have ever seen! In her younger days, she was a flaming alcoholic and got into all the situations major the alcoholically challenged do, and even more. When I met her, though, she was twenty-some years sober and running an AA meeting with her husband.
So . . . I asked Rebecca to attend the AA meeting and informed Alice she was coming. When the two women met, I could feel the rapport happening there. That’s what I hoped for. That’s what I wanted. And, sometimes gals can do things for each other. So, I became just an assist.

Posted: 10/24/2006 12:54:19 AM | There are so many people who have touched my heart and are beautiful to me.When I gave birth to my daughter it was like a rebirthing of myself.She has taught me more about unconditional love and appreciating the simple things in life than anyone else ever has .My best friend who passed away(also my ex boyfriend) taught me so much about finding my own truth,the purity of life,love,and how to just "be"..He also showed me not only how to listen to classical music,but how to truly appreciate and feel it in the depths of my soul.My mother was the bravest,most vibrant ,amazing woman I have ever,and will ever know.She died from cancer in 2000.She taught me through her actions over the years, that being a mother is one of the greatest life experiences that a person can have .I learned how to be a truly dedicated and loving mom like she was from her.She also taught me how to love boundlessly,and give/help others without expecting or wanting anything in return.True joy comes from being there for your friends,family and loved ones.My current boyfriend taught me how to fly so to speak,and not to let past fears stand in the way of my dreams.We had a talk one night during the summer that changed my life forever . Ill always love him and be grateful to him for that.He taught me that a person can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles in life,when they want something badly enough.Hes living proof of that,and I have a tremendous amount respect and admiration for him.There have been so many wonderful people in my life,that Id have to write a book to list them all.I feel truly blessed and thankful to know each and every one of them.This concludes my greeting card moment.Thanks for your patience with my long post O:) Kat | |
