we went over, did what we had to do,now its time to come home. what the @@@ are we still doing over there??? and dont even get me started on george bush, hes a real idiot, we need a democrate in office! damn republicans, they could care less for the middle class and poor. | |

No#1. War is meessy business...period. People die and our troops come home in boxes.
No#2. George Bush is the target of everyone's frustration. He made the commitment to the people of IRAQ to oust Hussein and help them become a democratic nation. Its not something that you set up in 6 months and your done. Its would be like having your 15 year old boy help you build and 700 horsepower hot rod and then throwing him the keys...He wont know how to drive it...he'll wrap it around a pole or splatter himself across the pavement unless you teach him how to drive first.
No#3. If you wonder why we dont hear anything coming out of IRAQ...blame the media...its better news hearin g about a car bomb then some joe schmoe Iraqi getting to set up their own business like an american.
No#4. The general public needs to figure out what they want...do you want the troops home or do you want to help other countries...thats why war is what it is...its a messy business...you cant have it both ways.
No#5 War is a lot different then it used to be. The casualties in IRAQ over the past few years is actually strikingly low percentage wise. Realize this too...todays numbers in IRAQ wont even scratch the surface of the number of people we lost on D-DAY in WWII. I believe those numbers were well into the 60-80 THOUSAND range...in ONE DAY!
Its true that no-one including the president wants to ever see a soldier coming home in a box. Its sad...very sad...always. BUT this is the price we pay to have the life and country we live today...and those troops willingly sign their names on the dotted line knowing that they might be the one coming home in a box.
Instead of calling the pres an idiot...being we cant get the political wheels moving any faster at this point...why not see where you can help someone, whether its sending a care package to an anonymous soldier, helping people with family in IRAQ or what have you...trust me...they'll thank you. | |

Posted: 10/25/2006 8:55:54 AM | i agree totally with 2uneek. war is very messy, sad and complicated business. just because we went over blew some things up and half way help them start to create a government that may or may not be right for them does not mean our job is done. Rome was not built in a day, to use an over used phrase. If we just suddenly pull out then they will be right back where they were in the beginning and would probably be worse be cause he people will blame the US for the failure. We can not do what Clinton did go in when the public was for a war and bomb the heck out of them then as soon as public opinion starts to go down hill pull out. I have a brother over their and a few friends and I want them home more then anything, but i will support them while they are over there. Not make things worse for them by bad mouthing the war and what they are doing over there.
Another good point is that war is different now a days. Public opinion was never down on the different wars the US were in till the mass media started to come a little more excesable. Instead of just newspapers and writing we now have video coverage!

Our men and women are.....it can be very hard to determine who is friend and foe. I stand behind our troops.....I have friends there as well. Not to mention was in the military and know how it feels when your friends forget you....Keep the care packages going....it helps. | |

Posted: 11/10/2006 7:11:04 AM | | I have a son in the Military...He's been 4 times to IRAQ..If you personally have a soldier, then you know the "real" issues we have over there....If not, you read the newspapers, and we never hear the "good" that we are doing over there...Yes, OUR soldiers express the goodness, we have done over there, and feel a need to complete a job....Pray for them, and yes...send a care package, and Thank them......because of them....we have what we have today...FREEDOM. I'm proud of all those that serve.......and another thing..that Cindy chick who totally embarassed her son's memory.....you should think about HIM, and why he was there to begin with. It was a voluntary choice. | |

So now that they've figured out how to make a buck off depriving Americans of jobs by sending them to Vietnam Bush is over there wagging his tail too.
Maybe that's part of the Iraq plan. Go in, make a bad situation 1000 times worse (spending the lives of "expendable" Americans, not to mention the locals), then let the resulting stew percolate for a couple of decades. Voila! A new sweatshop nation to exploit.

Bring home what's left of our people....and let them fight it out...
The only problem with that is if the US leaves thing unfinished and in the hands of a fledgling government, other Nations in the area, the terrorists and/or insurgents will take advantage of that. The Terrorists will come back to the US and continue their war against your life style and to the same extent ours here in Canada and the World. Iran will surely want to topple any Democracy at it’s door step that doesn’t have US and World support and the insurgents will fight to regain power or new entity seize power and then you’ll be right back at it again only this time it’ll be in a country like Saudi Arabia.
Peace is always preferred but what if it’s not possible to have with out surrendering and giving up your own freedoms and way of life or fighting for it. Those unfortunately seem to be the only two choices being thrust on a free world give up or fight. | |

Posted: 11/30/2006 11:20:28 PM | Well I can say mostly BUSH War.. I was in the front line from the start I wanted to get out but I was on the so called Stop-loss sort of a involntary draft. Before you leave to go home yeah got to go fight for the cuase. Well i was in the 4th ID in which we were sposed to come in from the North from Turkey but they didnt want Us invade through turkey to get to Iraq so we had to come in from the South behind 3rd Id. In which they had most of the area secure for us. I seen some actions here in there but was really much until later that year when most of the shit hit the fan. But if turkey lets through I think it would of been a lot better. Well its time to bring home caus this is going to be a another log ordeal like Vietam if we dont get more support form other nations. Peace in Middle east/S.w Asia.  | |

I just want to say, I was in the Navy and I can tell you that once I enlisted there was no turning back. So, of course all of the Military Personnel are going to serve the United States and do the best they can. We don't have a choice, it's up to our Government.
