Holy smoke! If you have to get up at the same time that the rest of the working world does, no wonder they call you crabby pants!
Obviously the answer depends on age, what time the person wakes up, what the person does during the day, and about 1.3 million other factors that will make your bedtime different from someone else's. As for me, I'm 45 and I'm usually work from 6:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, so bedtime is around 10:00.

| Bed Time Posted: 10/30/2006 7:13:44 PM | oh, I'm 46..my day starts at 5:30 am till about 5:30 in the evening..
maybe if i go to bed at 10pm I'll change my name to sugar britches

| Bed Time Posted: 10/30/2006 7:28:55 PM | I need 8 hours of sleep each night. If I dont get it during the week, I make up for it by sleeping in weekends. Once I am out, Im out like a light for the 8 hours ....like a clock. So- 11 pm- 7am usually and weekends usually 10 am - 1 pm or so ..... | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/30/2006 7:56:10 PM | I usually go to bed around 1, and get up around 7. Weekends, if nothing early is going on, I stay in bed till about 9. I couldn't sleep if I went to bed any earlier than 12.
Having a partner who like to sleep similiar hours makes things easier.

| Bed Time Posted: 10/30/2006 8:03:06 PM | | Hit the rack about 11:30, up at 6:30. 7 hours is plenty. | |

| Bed Time Posted: 10/30/2006 8:28:01 PM | I'm off to bye bye land about midnight and up around 7:00...this time change is killing me right now, its nice to have that extra hour in the morning but then the day seems so long.

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 4:32:35 AM | Extra hour in the morning? The day didn't get an hour longer. You still need to wake up X minutes before you leave for work and you come home the same number of minutes after just like before. The window of sunlight is different but my car has lights..... | |

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 4:37:06 AM | I too don't require a lot of sleep-4-5 hours is the most I usually need. However, I went to bed this morning at 1:30 and got up at 7! What a treat for me! Once in a while I do "catch-up" sleep and get anywhere from 6 to 10 hours (not in a row) and that happens about every 2 months! But I DO have a regular job and often work late and into the night-so no sleep on a regular basis is fine. Guess I don't really have a life with all the work though. CRAP!

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 5:05:52 AM | | I work 2-10 permanently so I am a late owl, usually 1 am, I don't require a lot of sleep either, 4-6 hours usually but sometimes have to recharge and sleep 7-8 hours! | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 5:25:27 AM | On the nights I don't work, I usually go to bed around 2 or 3 and get up around 8 or 9.. on the nights I work, from 11 pm to 7 am I usually hit the sack around 9 am and get up about 3 or 4 pm. This week I am working 6 out of 7 nights so will be sleeping during the day. I have always been a night owl, so working nights doesn't bother me | |

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 5:49:53 AM | | Now that I am retired and my children are grown; ANYTIME I FEEL LIKE IT! | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 11:35:03 AM | | If I'm lucky...I get 2 to 2 1/2 hours at a crack. Then I'm up for for a few hours, then go back for a couple more hours. I'm retired, so I just sleep when I can, and when I'm able. | |

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 12:04:02 PM | Question on bed time for my poster friends - Do you nap during the day?
Out of the people I know, mostly men seem to nap, while women do not. The only women that I know who nap, are retired so their sleeping habits seem to be more nap time than bed time for a full nights sleep.
I for one can't nap, I won't sleep at night if I do.

Do you nap during the day?
Not on purpose..... | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 12:45:33 PM | | I try my best to avoid naps during the day, especially when I'm driving. | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 2:15:00 PM | | Usually after midnight but I always wake up at the same time 4:30 am | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 3:36:33 PM | | Between 11:30 and 12:30. Up everyday at at 6:30. I've never needed more than 6-7 hours of sleep, but every couple of weeks I crash out on a weekend for about 9 hours. | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 6:17:34 PM | | Depends. My job has me on-call every 5th week, so sometimes I do get called and am up later than I might be ordinarily. Probably 11PM-1AM is the norm (I work at home, been in the office twice this year, so I roll out of bed, put coffee on, and I'm working). Getting called at 4AM is when it really sucks, because you wake up in the morning not really feeling fully rested. But usually 7 hours work ok for me. | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 6:48:37 PM | | Sometimes, I have been up until 4 or 5am trying to get to sleep..guess i don't need too much | |

| Bed Time Posted: 10/31/2006 8:07:25 PM | | I fall asleep sometime around noon, out of boredom. I then finish up the day sleepwalking. When it gets late I must wind up in bed somehow, because there I am when I wake up the next morning. | |
|
| Bed Time Posted: 11/1/2006 2:16:18 AM | | I work 6p-6a and my schedule is work 6 days, off 1 day... work 1 day off 6 days. Since I'm coming home when most people are getting up, I sleep from about 0630-1500 hrs. Sometimes much less, sometimes I crash out on my first off day for as long as 12-14 hrs though. | |
