| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/30/2006 7:57:24 PM | Being a former soldier who has lost friends serving this country Remembrance Day has always been an important day for me.It's a day that I think young people need to be taught about it's importance and that we should never forget the sacrifices that men and women in uniform make. A friend of mine who is a teacher sent me a video that she now is trying to get permission to show at her school because she feels it would touch young people more that the old WW1and WW2 photos that most of us grew up with.It hit home with me because I know the feelings of loss when you carry the flag draped casket of a friend onto that plane for their final flight home.I'll put the link below if you feel like watching.

Note---the letter between the capital Z and the capital L at the end is a capital i.Just for your info because when it was sent to me it looked like a small l.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/30/2006 9:28:13 PM | Wow, what an amazing video! The pictures, photography and music are incredible! It is a wonderful tribute to the people who have served and are currently in service for our country and our home. I am proud of my great grandfather, uncles and several friends who have given great sacrifices for our country.
I would love to see your friend show it in the schools in fact it would be wonderful to see it aired on public T.V.
To all that have or currently are serving my hat is off to you and I will always remember the sacrifices, the young people who never made it home and the ones who did who came back very different people that the one they left as.
Thank you for giving us a safe and wonderful home.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/30/2006 9:35:17 PM | A very good and touching video. I don't think it should be shown to students instead of the old WW1 and WW2 photos, but along with them, to show we must remember the past as well as think of the present and future. | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/31/2006 3:54:38 AM | thanks for sharing this video.............I just played it for my kids this morning..............

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/31/2006 4:00:00 AM | | I get very emotional on Rememberance Day - when I was really young I never understood it but now it really hits home - touching for sure! | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/31/2006 4:04:11 AM | Incredibly moving video! Thanks for pointing us to it.
I agree. They should be showing that in the schools. My childrens' schools always have a Remembrance Day celebration. I've attended a couple of times, and they have always show video from WW1 and WW2.
This clip would really drive home that we have 'real' people serving our country RIGHT NOW, TODAY!!
Thank you for sharing it Beacon.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/31/2006 7:33:15 AM | Wow... that video brought tears to my eyes. I think it would be great to show to the kids growing up this world, nowadays. Remembrance Day has become very important to me since I have gotten older. When I was a kid/teen I never really realized how important each and every man/woman that has fought in any war is or was. They are the ones who have fought for OUR freedom! Without them, who knows what this country would be like. Please be sure to take the time to think of these brave soldiers on Nov. 11th. I personally drop anything I am doing when that clock hits 11am.
My grandfather flew a spitfire plane in WWII. I wish I had actually listened to him when he use to tell his stories. He passed away in 2000 and he is the reason I have realized how important these people are.....

| Remembrance Day Posted: 10/31/2006 7:35:25 AM | | Thanks for the link. I cried through the whole thing. My Dad was a Marine in WWII, he was 17 at the time and saw some pretty horrific stuff. Thank god he came back with his body and mind intact. However I can tell you he would still have nightmares from when he was there. He recently passed away at the age of 80 and I have told him in the past that I appreciate his roll in the War. I would like to thank him and all of our military for what they are doing or have done to keep our freedom. You are all remembered in my prayers. | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 5:09:26 PM | | Wow,I'm surprised that this video is bringing up these feelings in the people watching it.It raised some pretty powerful emotions in me as well.Every time a soldier comes home in a coffin,it gets harder and harder for me to watch. On November 11th remember all our soldiers, sailors, coast guard and airforce personnel both past and present. | |
|
| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 5:46:35 PM | my grandfather was an aircraft mechanic in WW2, my grandmother's companion is a front-line vet from WW2, my uncle served time in Bosnia, 2 other places, and Afghanistan...
I nearly joined the military (didn't because of BOTC [basic officer training course]... not my sort of thing)... that said, I did Air Cadets, so, still have some experience working alongside military personelle.
I am one of the very few people I know who not only are disgusted by the disrespect people give rememberance day in school, but I'm appauled, and have told people off VERY vocally for giving disrespect... in fact, teachers were supposed to chastise me for what I did, but they decided to let me continue, since I was doing such an effective job of getting the point across.
I'm going to be getting that video out... and I'll be taking several of the slides from it, and be sending them around, as well...
That slideshow had a really good choice of songs to go with it, too. Altogether REALLY well done.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 6:05:23 PM | Thankyou for posting this video.
I have forwarded it to the principal at my son's school. He wants to use it in their assembly.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 6:18:40 PM | | Thanks from me too for sharing this very moving tribute to our fallen men at arms. It also brought tears to me eyes to see our strong young men carrying their companions to rest. The tears on their faces only demonstrate that a soldier is far more than a fighting machine. It's a dirty job, and they are coping the best way they can. God Bless them All! | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 7:02:20 PM | Excellent video. Many in my family have served in all the branches of the military, army, navy and air force. Ive had the honour of marching in Remembrance Day parades with both of my grandparents who served in WWII, my brother pushing my grandfather's wheelchair.
This past summer I tried to enlist but sadly didnt make the cut. I am more than likely going to try again since Ive read that there have been changes made to the recruitment process. I also read that recruitment is up 40%, so it seems many people are signing up to support our country.
It seems to me that we really dont make a bigger deal out of Remembrance Day. More really should be taught in schools about what the day means and videos like this would really help in that.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 8:00:49 PM | Myself, I am headed for basic training sometime early this spring if it all goes to schedule.... Willy Keep trying. If the reason you didn't get in last summer was the physical fitness test, come and try again if you can, they no longer have it. you still have to pass the mental apptitude test and the medical exam and make it through the interviews. I'm headed in to be a medic, and totally excited about it. I just spend the last hour watching videos on utube from the military photographers of the fire fights in afghanistan... definately churns my guts to think I could be in that position. You really don't know what these vets deserve untill you are in the position of knowing the danger they went through for us... I'm not there yet but I'm already nervous, so for sure this rememberance day will mean even more than they have before, and almost every year I've had a tear or two in my eye during the ceremony. Hopefully I won't have to put my medic training into use while I'm over there, and I surely hope I won't be one of those brothers carrying their buddy off the plane. This year, be sure to listen to the vets, they are almost gone so cherish it. usually they have some funny stories! | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 8:03:34 PM | | I just watched the video and it is very moving and well done. I have studied military history for years now and I guess I tend to look on a soldiers life differently from most people I have met. I think this video really opens the eyes of the viewer to the reality of soldering, and those who wait at home for their husbands and wives and fathers and mothers who will not be returning. I hope this video gets a lot of airplay during rememberence day and thank you for sharing the link with us here. | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/1/2006 8:11:34 PM | | The video so totally broke my heart! Here we are playing around on a dating site when there are so many "real" issues going on in our world. God! The dead are someone's husband, father, brother, Son, Daughter, Wife etc.....I wish I could paint the entire world with a "Happy Brush" and let all of this go! I do however, give my eternal thanks to those who have fought and still do fight for our freedom! They pay the ultimate price...giving their lives...God, we have so very much to be thankful for! May Jesus have swept you quickly into his Heaven for eternal happiness and peace! | |

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/2/2006 3:27:36 AM | I thnk it's important to remember everyone that fought to give us our freedom. That video reiterates that no matter how old you are there are people out there fighting to keep our freedom alive. 15 yrs ago I wrote a poem for the vets but only showed family and close friends. Every year I remember those from all the wars since my grandparents were involved in WW2 and my father served along with many of his brothers and sisters. It's a shane the Canadian government does so little to teach the younger generation about remembering those that served. I'd like to share the poem I wrote with all of you. Although it's written about a different time when we didnt have all this technology I think it still fits today.
Remember the people who fought for our freedom They gave us thier very lives Remeber who led them They fought with guns and knives.
Remeber they had wives and children Who may never see them again The war just kept on buildiing All of them said I can
Remember the muddy trenches And how they all suffered They sat in foxholes and ditches When a bomb fell they went for cover.
Now November the 11th is here Don't let their memories fall Hold them in your hearts so dear Don't forget to remember them all.

| Remembrance Day Posted: 11/2/2006 4:10:43 AM | All I can say is wow...what a moving video...brought many tears to my eyes, especially when I saw the four caskets. Our government needs to do more to make younger children aware of what Remembrance Day is about...and to not take what we are so blessed to have for granted.
I remember when I was younger as a member of Girl Guides, we would always be part of the ceremony to the cenotaph and lay a wreathe in remembrance...now, it seems it's treated as just another day.
Praying for the day our boys and girls return safely home...and never have to go back to war again!
