| how do YOU find out if she/he....is clean?
Posted: 11/5/2006 2:18:33 PM | I'm just wondering what method people use to find out if someone they're interested in sleeping with is disease-free?
Do you:
- request a recent medical statement from the doc sayin so?
- right before you're about to stick it in, say "you're clean....right baby?"
- wrap it up and hope for the best
- have a talk about it and take their word for it when they say they're clean
Or what other method? Do you always ask before doin it, or do you just make the effort to protect yourself in the beginning? | |

otherwise, it's all in the situation. def wrap it up. still not 100% but close enough. there is no full proof way to find out about another person. people lie. and it is a bit awkward to realistically ask them. some people don't even know they have anything. ironically, with all the information out there regarding STDs etc etc, i'm surprised people STILL have sex at all. | |

yikes!!!! THAT is seriously a scary way to decide. I know several people who have made THAT mistake.....a shower and some perfume hardly make ones' sexual practices safe.
I say,....show me yours and I'll show you mine.
RECENT medical results that is,.....tested especially for HV-2 as well as the usual HIV, Hep C...etc. | |

if no curling of the nose hairs....proceed....send in the hand
if the hand detect bungle in the jungle......be caucious
( i like to eat off a clean plate, and i hate coming up flossing)
Follow with some slight touching, remove hand and do the nonchalant hand behind the head sniff test.....( very important you're not busted at this point)
if all is good.....proceed with protection
if all is bad
place fingers in persons mouth.....go no further | |

They say one out of four people has HSV2. Gauging from some of the responses to this thread, it doesn't surprise me. There are plenty of people who are asymptomatic carriers--that is, no sores, warts, no indication whatsoever. Odor or lack thereof is not necessarily an indicator of disease, and looking at someone's genitals is no guarantee that there's nothing there. And finally, contracting an STD doesn't make someone dirty. If you get cold sores, you've got herpes simplex 1. if it doesn't stick to your thumb and index finger and have good elasticity then it's
not healthy.
as for women i go by smell, if you start to gag when you go for a lick it's probably not a good

Posted: 11/5/2006 8:58:00 PM | So I am a medical professional that actually takes blood and works in a lab on a day to day basis...Going to warn everybody right now the spelling is going to suck, about 10 hours into a 24 hour shift. So don't get any panties in a bunch if I spell things wrong. The way a person looks is in no way able to tell you whether that person is free from disease. I draw from patients everyday who are positive and gettin levels checked, and some of them suprise the heck out of me..Never would have guessed! Being clean, dressing well, smelling nice, oh and my fav of all the comments on here was designer shoes, nothing can tell you except a signed medical document from a dr who has read test results. What to do? Well how much do you love yourself and your future children or spouse? I have been in situations were yes I was dumb and did the deed without medical proof..After taking this class and being involved in this feild..I don't care if you are Brad friggen Pitt..U are not sticken anything inside me unless my doc tells me you are clean and if you can't wait that long u ain't worth it anyway. Talk to the person before hand and see how they feel about it....
P.S. STDs can live dormant in a persons body for up to 10 years before the host shows any signs of infection...U could have it and never know but be sharing it with others that depending on the clothes you wear or how good you smell think you are clean. Solution, get tested regularly, wear condoms, and be careful who you sleep with. Good Luck! | |

The gentleman was young, very good looking, had enough bling to buy me a new house, and smelled very yummy...Came to find out he was very wealthy and was getting seen for a common cold. Yup this is where the story starts to suck...took his blood and was testing for lots of things other than STD's..u know bacteria, ect. Doc threw in the STD panels for the shits? I don't know why to this day..but I had thought the same thing I've heard on here about the whole "clean" thing and was kinda making fun of the doc for ordering those tests cuz there was no way that guy could have had a STD...Like NO WAY! My sup told me that I would be suprised and I was responsible for following the case till the end...In my career I have been responsible for telling family that their older loved one has died..I never will get past seeing that gentleman come to the office and having to tell him that he has a deadly disease and that at this time we have no cure for...Two things happened that day..I ruined a man's life and I stopped being nieve. That was probally one of the best examples I have ever had of don't judge a book by it's cover. Being careful and smart are the best things you can do to protect yourself. Cuz STD's do not discriminate...yes I know the spelling. Focus on the message not the words! | |

They felt it was their duty to open my eyes to the profession I chose and just how shity it can be at times. Believe me when I say lesson learned. | |
