| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/5/2006 11:38:50 PM | hmmm, what i hate about living alone is not have anyone to talk to...the only people i have to talk to is here on the internet. i don't really cook much anymore...it's hard for me to cook a regular meal for just me (damn i miss making lasagna, stuffed shells, stuffed manicotti, stuffed peppers, cakes & pies), i also miss making a pot of coffee every morning for the one i'm with...i also used to make a thermos of coffee and lunch for work while he was sitting watching the morning news drinking a fresh cup of coffee, i miss having a warm body laying next to me, someone to watch tv with, go for walks with.............omg, i'm killing myself by thinking about everything i miss and what i hate about living alone. | |

its that messy b***** that keeps leaving her wine glasses everywhere
here's the number to call 111-555-0505, I'll be happy to come and do the clean-up and if I do a good job at rounding up all those wine glasses, maybe I'll have one myself.....

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 4:36:22 AM | I couldn't stand living alone.
It doesn't have so much to do with boredom, as just the simple "abscence of prescene" for the lack of a better term. I like having the company of people I know and love and feel comfortable around... the collective sense of "prescence" or "spirit" that comes to permeate (sp?) a house.
I like being alone or at least beng left to myself enough, just not the feeling of an empty home.

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 6:10:59 AM | Being a positive person...I ask...what do you LOVE about living alone!
10. Cooking for one is easy and clean up is easier! Thank god for soup and sandwiches! 9. Waking up with all your blankets and in the MIDDLE of the bed! 8. No arguments over what to watch on tv! Hockey nights rule!! 7. Listening to music or vacuuming at 3 am keeps no one up but YOU, and your neighbors! 6. Its great to know your only cleaning up after YOURself! 5. You make all your own choices and theres no need to "run" it by someone else! 4. If the toilet paper roll is empty....YOU did it! 3. No one else hears you snore but the cats! 2. If I am lonely, my friends are only a call/email/IM/drive away. 1. The toilet seat is always down, no more 3am splash and slide!

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 6:14:04 AM | The only time I ever feel a a bit lonely is when I cook for myself. No matter if it's good or bad, there's no one to complain/celebrate with.
The same thing applies to movies. No worse feeling than seeing some thought provoking movie, and then being unable to discuss it with someone.
Grrrrrrrrr........ | |

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 8:00:47 AM | Well, I don't live alone, I live with my brother, but for the most part it's like living alone. The thing I hate most is cleaning. It's a big house for the two of us and my brother doesn't do ANYTHING.
Sure, you would say, "Just clean up your own stuff and don't worry about him", but I don't want to live in a pigsty and I always end up cleaning up for him. For example, right now he hasn't done the dishes in 2 WEEKS... and we use a freaking dishwasher! I do clean mine but I'm starting to run out! :D
I want to kill him... | |

I remember that feeling well. I used to start to say something, then realise I was alone - sheesh!!
Now? Wouldn't change living alone for the world. I love it.
I can actually watch a movie without someone bloody well interrupting!!

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 9:06:24 AM | I have lived alone for many years...( well always have pets) and am comfortable with it..
But... sometimes it would be nice to:
1. wake up to a smiling face..( besides the cats)
2. have someone to snuggle on the couch and watch movies with.. (besides the cats)
3. have someone else do the dishes and /or cook
4. and have someone to talk to about my day.. my thoughts or feelings
Guess the draw back of living alone is not having that someone special..to share life with...
But there are lots of positives about living alone.... but that is another topic...

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 9:25:51 AM | | I love living alone. I do not have to answer to anyone and there is no one around to reorganize my shite except of course when I have company and they feel the need to touch everything and anything they can get their hands on. Only downfall is when I misplace something, there is no one around to help me search. | |

Living alone - Having to be careful about swallowing your food. If you start choking, there's no one around to "heimlich" you
i agree with ya there.......i'm c.p.r./basic first aid certified so i'd be able to help someone but as for me.....i'm pretty much s.o.l......have you ever tried to perform c.p.r on yourself, highly impossible. there's also the fact that i live in a trailer and my closest neighbor is an elderly woman about 50' away from me.........she's not going to hear me, i can be dead in here and no one would ever know.

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 10:53:34 AM | Would be nice to have a good woman around to clean house and do the laundry. But, as Quenten Crisp says about house cleaning : " After 5 years, it doesn't get any worse ". | |

The Heimlich maneuver can be performed on oneself using several different methods. One method is to place the thumb side of the fist below the rib cage and above the navel, grasp the fist with the other hand, and press the fist into the abdomen with an upward thrusting motion, repeating this motion until the object is expelled. Another method is to lean over a table edge, chair, or railing and press the upper abdomen against the edge with a quick thrust, repeating this motion until the object is expelled.

| Living alone- And what do you hate about it? Posted: 11/6/2006 12:49:09 PM | Don't hate it. Have been alone for 23 years and loved every minute of it. For all the obvious reasons stated above by fellow posters.
Now, however, I've got a man in my life and although we don't live together (yet) we spend a majority of our time together.
After 23 years of being alone, I'm now realizing how much I've missed. Two to help cook, two to help clean up, two to snuggle in front of the t.v., two too bathe, two to make the bed, and two to mess it up. Yummm!
