Posted: 11/6/2006 9:34:16 PM | Whether on a date, a romantic moment, in the bedroom...ever say the wrong name?
A friend of mine and his girlfriend joined my wife-at-the-time at a company X-mas party. The boss came around and we started introducing our S/Os. My frind up and says "this is my girlfriend..." and says my wife-at-the-time's name. The table went absolutely slient. He turned redder than a beet...after the initial shock wore off after 30 seconds, I almost pi$$ed myself laughing...

I just was going home for a weekend and a friend on the base got hurt pretty bad that very same day. She was a great friend and i was worried sicked all the way home from Kingston to Montreal.
I got home and called this girl i had just started being with. I called her and instead of saying Eh how are you Elizabeth, i said ......Hello Simone, how are you feeling...By the time i had said those words. I stoped myself just realising what i just had said.
There was this HUGE moment of awkward silence...
Things didnt work in the end, but now i laugh at it. | |

I get too much practice saying thier name with stuff like...
-{insert name here} could you check that funny noise my car is making?
-{insert name here} there is a garbage bag at the door with your name on it
-{insert name here} my back is sore, how 'bout a massage?
-{insert name here} I can't seem to find your VISA card, could you get it for me?

Posted: 11/6/2006 11:06:32 PM | When I was framing years ago in Edmonton, my Dad and I would stop at the bar for a pint after work. Quite often my stepmother and g/f (Patty) would be there as well.
We walked in one afternoon, and the bar being a bit dark from working in the sun all day (that was and still is my excuse!). I walked up behind Patti, said "hi," and began massaging her shoulders, and gave her a kiss on top of the head. However, when I looked across the table to say "hi" to my stepmother, there was Patti sitting beside her. Oops!
That's about as close as I ever got to saying the wrong name . . . and that was close enough!

for me, never called a girl by the wrong name, always called them "baby, sexy, pain in the butt...etc" | |

Posted: 11/7/2006 1:59:20 AM | hehehe... I've forgotten lots (usually in the first stages of knowing someone) but I'm almost smart enough to not open my mouth to just stick my foot in it.
As Bud Bundy once said about sister Kelly... "if you try to fit a cup of information into a thimble of a brain, something gonna spill over the edges." (or something like that) I forget co-workers names all the time... just can't fit all that stuff in there.  | |

Went for coffee, had an awesome time, he was everything and more and we made plans to see each other again. I had to go play a late game that night, went out for a few pints with the team after the game, and decided when I got home and at 1am in the morning to just drop a short note to say how much I had enjoyed meeting the fella. After not hearing from him for two days, I began to wonder what had gone wrong, and went back to the message I had wrote him. "Dear Chris, just wanted to tell you what a great time I had tonight..........",
Eureka! The poor guys name was JOHN, yup never heard from him again. And I was too embarassed to call.
Every time that TLC commercial comes on about Merlot and E-Mail don't mix, I always think of this incident.

nothing sexual ... we were out shopping one day and he did something stupid in the store and tried to blame it on me .. however he used the wrong name ... needless to say i wasen't overly impressed, walked out of the store and it was a quite ride back to his place ... i forgave him for it sooner or later ... | |

But really it is not been a big del to me ... people make mistakes all the time ... And when you think about it ... are you confident enough with things? If not then it is gonna bug you ...
