I was thinking that we could have an area get together on or around April 8th or 9th. Ideally somewhere that anyone interested could go, hang out and get to know other singles in the area. Who knows you may find Mr. or Ms. Right.
I know for myself that I have been on POF for about 2 months - and prefer to meet people as opposed to emailing for long periods of time.
All are welcome. I am hoping to meet someone in the 26-34 age range - hopefully I will see some great men out. Come on guys!
As for the place, I am open to your thoughts. I read some stories from the Coral outing so perhaps we could find a different location to try.
Anyways, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully we can have a great response.

I see that a lot of people have viewed this topic and would love to hear from you all. Even though I am looking for someone in their late 20s, early 30s all are welcome and hopefully we will have a variety of people at the gathering.
As for a meeting place I would love to hear some suggestions, its hard to get to know people at big bars so any ideas for a pub/lounge - somewhere smaller where you can meet and get to know others would be ideal (The Vault, Starlight). Any ideas?

I think karaoke would be an awesome place to meet people and make a fool of yourself :) Also, there's lots of seating and it's easy to talk to people there because the music isn't constantly screaming in your ears all night... just a thought.. | |

Posted: 3/28/2005 1:37:35 PM | The Silver Spur is just in uptown Waterloo. i don't know the exact address, but it's near Waterloo Town Square. It's a karaoke bar that serves lots of beer, good wings (usually), and there are plenty of pool tables. They also usually do this thing where you get tickets when you buy drinks, and then when you go up to sing you get to spin the wheel and win a prize. It's not a bad set up.
One thing about the Spur though, is that it tends to draw a huge crowd on the weekends.. so I would suggest meeting up earlier (between 8-9) so that us fishies can get tables.
And I definitely don't think there should be an age limit on it, the more the merrier is what I always say! | |

The Vault or Starlight could work.. but these are places that are going to be really packed with loud music.. so it would be just like tryin to pick up at the bar. Isn't that the type of atmosphere we're trying to avoid? | |

This seems a bit more challenging than I anticipated. I have been to the Vault and Starlight and they both offer a nice atmosphere. They are both small which makes it less of a rowdy bar like atmosphere. They will likely get crowded pretty quick in the evening b/c they are small. Music usually isn't a problem. I guess we can just see who else is interested and come to a consensus on where to meet. We can always meet at one place and hop to others if its too crowded, etc.
Anyways, hope to hear other thoughts - we still have time to decide.

Posted: 3/29/2005 4:35:54 PM | | just a thought, maybe more of us could remind others of the FORUMS site , i have not visited it untill the day of the STAMPEDE meeting, got there late , and anyone there knows you have a long wait to get inside. did not get inside, but did get to watch a lot of people brush the snow of there cars, a very busy place is probably not the best. if we want to get every one in , and meet, should be a casual location, my opinion, and if it has to be at a later date , so be it. won't forget the birthday people !!!!,, keep the suggestion coming. | |

I think I would agree with a Dooley's suggestion. Bars and clubs are issues waiting to happen and of course there are the lines to be considered. With a place like Dooley's - you can grab your own table, or get a room (I am more familiar with the Hespeler location in Cambridge). There are tables that we could sit and gather around and those that want to follow up with a more intimate setting afterwards, I know there are tonnes of coffee places around other than the Timmy's next door on University.
But one thing is certain - like stardust said - there is nothing in Guelph - I've been here for almost 2 years and I can't wait to get out lol
Otherwise - hope to see you all there - ..... wherever we finally decide on  | |
