Okay, so after searching and not finding anything on this, I must ask. Anyone have a real good one?..

Clearly, It must be spicy, not bland or plain tasting. I do not however want to have to worry about 3rd degree burns on my tongue either, but not really weak.. Go Ahead, call me picky, but hey =)... Even if its just the sauce and peppers, the vegetables and onions and what not I can figure out =) Mucho Gracias =)

I have found this real comprehensive site--"AOH foods", which lists about ten versions.

De nada.

Now my turn to ask a favor:

How do I paste something (e.g., a recipe) from a word file to, say . . . HERE?

I could be so much more helpful if I knew how to do that.

Thanks,
Rx

Here I found this:::::

GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN PENG TENG

4 Chicken legs with thighs
1/2 c Soy sauce
1/2 c Distilled white vinegar
1 cl Garlic; minced
1 ts Ginger root; Peeled & minced
1 ts Cornstarch
1 lg Egg; beaten lightly
1/3 c Corn oil
4 Dried hot chilis; seeded

Bone the chicken legs, including the thighs by scraping the meat from the bone, working downward and keeping close to the bone. Pull the meat down over the bone (pulling it inside out like a glove) and cut it free from the bone. Discard the skin and cut the meat from each leg into 6 pieces.

In a bowl combine the soy sauce, vinegar, 1/2 c water, the garlic and ginger root.

In another bowl, combine the egg and cornstarch and dip the chicken pieces. Heat the oil in a wok or deep, heavy skillet until very hot, add the chicken and fry it for 4 to 6 minutes, or until it is crisp. Transfer the chicken with tongs to paper towels to drain and pour off all but 1 T of the oil from the wok. Add the soy sauce mixture, the chili peppers and the chicken and cook the mixture over moderately high heat for 2 minutes, or until heated through.

Transfer it to a heated serving dish. Serves 4.

You might try some chili paste in the sauce if you want this to be spicy, but don't want to eat whole chili peppers.
There is no reason why you couldn't save a little time by using boneless chicken thighs.

It is common these days for General Tso's Chicken to be served with a garnish of steamed broccoli, or with green and red peppers, baby corn ears, or other vegetables included. If you're going to use vegetables, steam them separately and add them when you combine the chicken, peppers, and sauce.

If you don't like chicken, you can substitute anything that can be cut up in small, boneless pieces and deep-fried in a light egg/cornstarch batter. You will occasionally see General Tso's Shrimp, or General Tso's Beef on menus, and can make them yourself in the obvious way. Be creative.

^^^^ I prefer the flakes especially if I am cooking Asian dishes......the powder is just not very attractive to look at......but the sweet chili is pretty good....

Roxie ... open your word file, use the left button on the mouse to highlight what you want to copy, click on the "edit" feature in the toolbar, click "copy", go to wherever you want to paste and use the paste feature in the "edit" button.

my former roommate and best friend (though he passed away about a year ago in a car crash) discovered a recipe very much like the one posted here when we first moved in together, maybe 5 years ago... we went wild, we made general tso's chicken, general tso's mushrooms, general tso's scallops... it became a long-standing in-joke between us that if we discovered some new food, we should try to "general tso it!" :-P

We found that the recipe went pretty well with boneless-skinless chicken breast pieces (though they're not quite as fatty or soft as the kind used by your chinese carryout place), and we would serve it with shiitake-fried-rice.
if you find that it's not spicy enough, simply cut up one of the red peppers and sautee that in with the sauce instead of whole. i recommend trying that out little-by-little though, hehe...
