| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 5:48:41 PM | I want to temporarily (and safely) colour my hair + beard white so I can kinda dress up as a young Santa Clause. Does anyone know something I can use that is relativly cheap (under $20), and that won't rub off on clothing or on people.
Thanks in advance. | |

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 5:52:02 PM | Hm.. not sure if you can temporily coulour your hair white. The only way that I can think of taking brown hair to white is by bleaching it and that certainly isn't temporary.
What about going out and trying to find a wig and fake beard?

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 6:17:26 PM | | They have bleach specifically for facial hair .......... I am not sure if it would turn your hair a pure white though ..... | |
|
| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 6:18:09 PM | You know... it might.... especially since you might have to leave it on longer due to the coarser hair. If you tend to have sensitive skin it certainly would.
You might want to pop into a hair salon and ask a stylist for their opinion.
My thoughts... don't bleach... get a wig and a fake beard.. Might save you some grief in the long run.

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 6:20:02 PM | go to a theatrical supply store like Malabar's or Hiscott's Beauty Supply on Yonge Street across from College Park.
they'll have a white liquid that can be brushed into your hair and beard and it will wash out.
if you really want to go the bleaching route, Hiscott's will have something called "speed bleach". it's a powder that you mix with peroxide to lighten hair. hairdressers use it to put highlights in. the strength of peroxide you use will make it go faster - i think 40 volume is the strongest you can get.
and, yes, that strength of peroxide will most likely burn...

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 6:22:11 PM | | ^^^^Listen to D.B. I googled that and man you do not wanna do anything but use the stage stuff! | |
|
| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 6:52:45 PM | I should have meantioned this b4, I tried some stage stuff, it works nicely, the problem is that even after leaving it in for an hour - it still easily rubbed off on clothing. Maybe I had the cheap stuff but it was given to my by a performer. Using cotton balls or a Santa wig just won't do it.
How about some sort of spray, does anyone know if that window decorating x-mass frost lookiking spray will stick to hair?
Thanks again - Ive only got till friday afternoon to fig something out.

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 7:03:37 PM | DO NOT Bleach your facial hair with hair bleach & peroxide ! 50 Vol is the highest perioxide available, Bleach kits ( wella) is to be mixed with 20vol. equal parts......one packet bleach, 1oz oil and 1oz peroxide etc. You can also use double blonde colours that have a lightener & excellor in them-I don't recommend them for your facial hair.......but hey it's up to you........ Facial / bikini bleaching kits are your best route if you feel you really wanna do it.
Facial hair kits are available at Drug Stores and that should suffice....I would recommend placing 10vol peroxide ( which you can get at a drug store too) on your beard before hand to open the cuticle because the hair is course it's harder for the cuticle to open and is resistant. Follow the instructions.......( You will see the kit is designed for women for facial hair or bikini area's, I have never tried this & you may need more than one) I believe this would be your best choice since it's designed for the skin type in consideration.
**Make sure you rinse it off ( the bleach) well and place conditioner on your beard after to stop any oxidation that could occur.**
If you happen to burn your skin ( and mens facial skin is sensitve with larger pores usually) Club Soda or Tonic work well to soothe. However in my professional opinion I would use the Theartre liquid & I believe you can get compressed brush on make-up as well.
Best of luck HK | |

| Need help to colour hair white Posted: 11/29/2006 10:29:24 PM | Becarefull using bleach on your hair as it will give you one nasty rash and I mean nasty . But Lemon juice will ligthen your hair . What you do is soak your beard and hair with it and then tie or wrap a towell around and leave the lemon juice in for 2 hours and then rinse out . Now you may have too do this a few times to get it as light as your talking but its safer then bleach . Bleach will be costic which means burning the hair folicals and that will surely spell hair damage .!!LOL Could try a blonde hair dye also maybe platium blonde as its close to white as you'll probbly ever find . HAHAHAHA Yeah baby sitten should do it too !!LMAO vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv | |
