| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 6:49:33 PM | | I have to go to a semi formal function tomorrow night, and absolutely hate wearing them. I will spend most of the evening doing the snatch and lift grab, trying to get them up where they belong.( Sorry guys) Is it necessary to wear hose anymore? Can one not suffice with some of that glittery body lotion giving the illusion of hose? | |

I do know of and understand your dilemma, and I know that Wonderbra panty hose is available in most waist heights (not all waists are in the same place on you ladies!) and have a slightly wider waistband than most. I even know that if you get a small snag to put some clear nail polish on it so it won't grow into a full run adn completely ruin the night!. These are available at most department and discount stores.
Personally, having been able to gaze upon your gams in pictures, you would do fine with or without them!!
Another alternative is the neutral shade of tights, they have the sheen in them and would only accentuate the positive and less emphasis on the negative, if there is any to be found.
Just a man's point of view tho!

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:02:26 PM | I don't think pantyhose are necessary anymore, even for evening wear. Self-tanner should suffice. I think that's what I would do. I think I'd be leery of that spray on stuff.
We'll probably get so used to no pantyhose, then it will come back in fashion in a few years and it will be "retro". Until then, let's be comfortable!

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:08:59 PM | Panty hose... No thankyou! Those new ripstop ones are just so hard to rip off when needed!
Silk stockings and garter belts - who said new and improved was better... I'm sorry it's a classic that should never have gone out of style!

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:11:31 PM | I am the only one keeping the hose manufacturers going. I wear them in the winter - too cold not to and my legs are far too pasty for the light of day. I'd be mistaken for a dead person
There are lots of fun ones. Plaid, mesh, lots of patterns. And you can get low-rise ones that don't strangle the midsection. Of course the bummer part is they do still run as soon as you try to pull them up...

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:23:12 PM | ^^Pantyhose do look great. Classy and, like you say, lots of great styles.
I use the style-over-comfort rule for shoes all the time.......You'd think I could use it with pantyhose! LOL Low-rise, you say? Hmm....
Lately, I tend to wear pants in winter. I miss skirts! Hmm.....something for my Boxing Day shopping list

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:26:29 PM | | Stockings are way more comfortable ..those lacy top ones with the rubber that stay up or like the one guy mentioned...just wear the garter belt...I think you just look more together with stockings than bare legs... | |
|
| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:32:06 PM | | I tried those stay-up ones and I found them wayyyy uncomfortable! I'd have to try them again. I was pregnant the last time. Everything was uncomfortable LOL | |

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:34:29 PM | | Gasp, k, have my Christmas Party tomorrow, and I just bought a black dress and was planning on wearing black stockings! Is this now a no no? Or are people referring to the nude or natural coloured pantyhose? I admit I don't like those. I only wear black if I am wearing a skirt. | |
|
| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:39:21 PM | A really, really, very sheer black will be nice.
There are certain brands that make them very sheer. If I was still in-the-know, I'd know which they were :(
Horseraddish, do you know?

My previous employer would send you home or to the store to get proper clothing if you weren't dressed up to standards. But he was very old school, that's how he wanted his company to be run, so we had to comply. My current employer wouldn't send you home, but eventually someone would have mentioned it. I am used to working in formal environment, where full dress code is in effect. There are many rules...
I agree with Horseraddish, there are many different options, various shapes and types. You can actually get the finishing touch by properly matching them to your outfit.

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 7:56:16 PM | | Ok, yes I was going to wear sheer. And thanks, I will have fun! I think there's two criteria for wearing hose: 1) I have also always thought that the more shapely one's legs are the less you need to wear hose and OP is obviously in great shape so could get away with not wearing them i would think? The second criteria would be weather - no way I would not wear nylons under a skirt last Monday! | |

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/1/2006 10:37:40 PM | I wear skirts a lot since I am tall and finding pants that are long enough sometimes is a dilema. If you're tall, jockey makes tall pantyhose and they don't fall down in the crotch! It's very nice wearing them and they stay where they're supposed to. They're a little on the pricey side but I find they not only look better than cheap ones, they don't run as easily. In summer I go without but that's only because I have summer colour. I think pantyhose look sexy with the right outfit. | |

| Does anyone wear pantyhose anymore? Posted: 12/2/2006 12:49:17 AM | Yeah ... I wear it. But only over my head. And only to the bank.
Also...I like paper, not plastic.
I think pantyhose look sexy with the right outfit. Any outfit. 'Nuff said.

Posted: 12/2/2006 3:54:20 AM | Pantyhose are such a pain - usually they are such a bad fit - either with the crotch between your knees, or up to your friggin boobs lol Thats why I stick with the old garters and stockings. They are more comfortable. There are spray on hose too that you can get in shoppers drug mart - I haven't tried them yet - but I hear they are pretty good. They give you the image of wearing nylons, and wash off at the end of the evening.
