I have written in my profile that 2 of my children are bi-racial and that if you have a problem with that do not contact me. I recently got a message from a member stating that no white guy would have me, and that I was only white trash,...etc...you get the picture. I guess basically, I was wondering if this is something that happens often on here? It is my second such letter from someone on this site. And, how do you deal with it, ignore it, respond, or what? Obviously not everyone is going to be racially tolerant, but for heaven's sake, I specifically state not to contact me if you have a problem with this. And I am not trying to start a war here, I just honestly would like to know how often this does happen? | |

So for me i've only seen overt racism once. I think putting something like "whites" or "blacks" only would be better... but hey! at least we know... did you report the person? i didn't ... i just changed the page. | |

Food for though...if you tell someone not to message you if they don't agree with something in your profile, then you will not stop them. They will only feel that they have been issued a demand by someone they find to be "below" them and this will only make them want to defy you even more; henceforth, you will definitely receive an email on the subject. | |

But to voice out to bigots to not bother you is actually opening the gate for them to do so cuz like bullies.. they draw to it.
People with narrowminded attitudes will take whatever opportunities they can to voice their opinions however stupid and rude it may come across.I've yet to meet one that can be rational and civilized.
So.. perhaps not even mention how you feel cuz its just not neccessary. Its clear they are bi-racial and its clear how much you love them. That's all that matters

Yes there are a few here but as someone pointed out earlier, the best thing to do is ignore them.
Let them make an a$$ of themselves, then they'll go away.

I have a relative who is a bigot. I lost all respect for him when I learned he is a bigot. I am still civil to him but I basically ignore him at family gatherings after my obligatory hello to him. I doubt he'll ever get the hint as to why I've turned a cold shoulder toward him but it's not my problem. Just treat bigots like THEY have the problem, not you. | |

If you've ever felt a twinge of hope for them and dismissed an idea on how... don't. But you are right its not your problem and i mean no offense to youl. Only that as a man who was and in many ways still is self decieved i say this. I can see to the other side but just not how to get there. After all... family is what God gives us so we can inconvience ourselves futher that we think we aught.
But in humility let me say i'm not judging or reading between the lines in anyway... at least not on purpose... I'm giving only the conscience I would get if I were in your position with such a relative.
That is why I wrote a polite message to the woman in my town with the message that she hates blacks. But in my case... heck ... i'm as black as I look... Seems like all I got was the hair... Didn't even get that cliche' item ... can't even play basketball... got no rythm.... well, i did get rythm but the French and German genes combine to throw it off sometimes.... I'm 6'6" tall but got size twelve feet... I mean i'm quiet and can sneak into place but please don't throw me a foot ball.... ok... I'll shut up now... | |

I've been here for almost a year, and only had one racist email. The only thing I have in my profile is that I don't want to hear from racists or homophobes. That was enough for one strange, sad individual to spew his hatred at me, so I can imagine you'd be a more likely target for these creeps. But still, shrug it off, and enjoy the contacts from people worth your while: those who honestly can't fathom such a thing making a bit of difference.

People act like they don't have a conscience and it has bothered me for a long time how silly people can get and how blatenty crule, hypocritical, selfish , shallow ect.
