Called me his "old lady"- does he consider me his girlfriend?Page 1 of 2    (1, 2)
Tonight I was out with a guy whom I really like and I know the feeling is mutual. During the date his buddy called and my guy referred to me as his old lady. While we hug/kiss/flirt and love spending time together, we haven't verbally made the commitment.

Do you think he considers us a couple because he called me his old lady?

Believe me, I will see where we stand when we next speak, just curious to hear what you guys think. Thanks!

not sure about Kentucky but in England, calling someone your "old lady" means he considers you his girlfriend. Either that or hes younger and thinks you are a cougar. I dunno. Thats all I got.

Don't assume anything, he might have just been joking. The only way to know for sure is to ask him jokingly if thats what he meant......

God, I hate that term "old lady" who the hell invented that?

re: old lady

That's certainly a term one can use to date themselves.

Can anyone say, 'time warp' ?

Makes two of us. Hate it beyond words. To me it shows a total lack of respect. Seems to be way too common here in the south!!!

It really depends on the person. I am a bit of a biker myself but I would never call a girlfriend my "ol Lady" because I simply don't like the way it sounds. But for many it is "the" term of endearment.

To him it means you're a couple. At least that's how he sees it.
Now, I just couldn't imagine saying that myself. But for him, it's a good thing.

If "Old Lady" is something you aspire to be called, you are going to do great together. Does that make him your "Old man"?

Either way, sounds like love to me (sarcasm)

yeah.. he probably does.

My ex's cousin's girlfriend refered to my ex as my "ol' man" once. That always bothered me. LOL..... not sure why.

"old lady" is a disrespectful term. bet he doesnt treat you well for long. guys who refer to the lady in their life as "old lady" are generally not respectful guys.
watch and see.

well i think ppl are just way to wrapped up in terminology...my bf calls me his ole lady and he is one of the most respectful, kind considerate guys i have ever met in my life...yes if he is calling you his ole lady it is a term of endearment and he is proud to be with u especially if he calls u that to family and friends. And as long as you are okay with the term and he treats u with respect why should anyone else have a problem with it???? ppl need to lighten up!!!! and so what if hes a "biker" quite honestly i only date "biker" type and have always been treated with respect. there is such a stigma to this type and that type...i think just meeting someone u care about and enjoy being with is a wonderful thing....who cares about terminology.

if u treat ppl with respect...u are showing u deserve it...

Yep. Your his ol lady alright. Where I come from anyway. Doesn't sound like your too displeased about it. Enjoy! From what I can see, he'll be doing the same.

Ciinful - I can't believe he called you his "old lady". My bf jokingly refers that to me every now and then, and I still hate the term even coming from him. He may be doing it because he considers you a couple, but I would have "the" talk with him, so you're both on the same page.

What if he is married and didn’t want his friend to think he was cheating when he heard a female’s voice in the background? Old lady is commonly in reference to a wife not a girlfriend (unless you have been living together for a long time).

I have also used terms like that to cover up when I forget a date’s name.

Cheers!

He might call every gal his old lady..........cuz he can't remember their name!

Don't try to push your status as that's the way to get him to dump the old lady!

If he is a biker, it is his way of saying you are his woman. Don't get too bent out of shape about it, it's a good thing.
