| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 4:28:11 AM | I actually don't mind shoveling!! I just hate scraping the windows of my car when it's sub below zero!!!! Burrrrrrr!!! I hate winter clothes - too bulky and I hate feeling crammed in the car trying to get comfy with coats and boots etc. - hence I really don't dress well for the cold!!

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 5:11:59 AM | 1)Taking your boots off somewhere that says "PLease remove your boots", only to step in the melted snow puddle with your socks on......grrrrr
2)Being on crutches this winter really sucks!

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 5:29:31 AM | 1. Standing on the GO platform in -30 weather with a windchill on top of that....then get on the train and find no heat !!!! 2. freezing rain 3. I think shovelling will be a new one for me....having moved from my apartment to my own home , this will be the first winter in a long time that I have to shovel my driveway/sidewalk....not looking forward to it but I guess will just have to suck it up. | |

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 5:42:49 AM | I LOVE WINTER ... for the most part ... but:
- Having to wear 500 layers of clothing. It takes half an hour to get undressed.
- The wind. Heck I don't have hair so the wind is just my enemy. I hate the wind. Freezing my ears.
- People who dress their pets up in Cheery Christmas sweaters and outfits. Nuff said.
- Hidden ice. Oh you all know what this is. You are walking on a deceptively flat sidewalk or walkway. Everything SEEMS fine then "SWOOOPPP BANGGGGGGG!!!" Yer on yer ass doing unintentional snow angels as you try to stand up. Usually happens when your arms are full of either groceries or some other type of baggage.

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 5:43:05 AM | Winter is a fact of life for us and there is nothing we can do about it. We grumble and complain about the cold, the snow and the things we can't change. I am one for doing that on occassion. I have lived in a lot of different places in this amazing country and each place I lived in has incredible winters. Lots of snow, lots of cold, and a long long season. I always tried to make the best of the winter...find fun things to do and enjoy the snow and cold. Winter picnics in Winnipeg, trips to the mountains in Alberta, Snow shoeing in Ontario, ice fishing and snowmobiling in Nfld....... But one thing that is consistant that burns my a$$ besides flames, is the different ways that different areas do snow removal. I have lived in heavy populated areas and I have lived in smaller communitites and each place varies. I have seen places where they clean close to the curb and leave a ridge down the middle of the road, so if you need to make a left turn...good luck. I have seen places where they scrape away every last snowflake and truck the snow to a dumping site. They would even clean the entrance to drive ways so you did not have a heavy windrow to shovel away, and I have seen places where they just plow a path and all the extra goes into your driveway, front lawn and side walk.....and that is what PI$$E$ ME OFF! How many times has this happened to you: You shovel your driveway. You spent a good hour cleaning the snow build up away and it is neat and tidy, then along comes the snow plow and now you have a heavy ridge of snow and ice to shovel away.

I walk my son too school 3 days a week and Ill tell you, its damn cold at 7:45am! I havent had a 'proper' winter jacket in years, always drove where I had to go, but this year is totally different. I have a dorky hat, mits and a warm coat. I look like a snowman but frankly dont care cause its COLD!
I like the snow and the winter activities. I dont even mind if its cold, its the stupid wind that makes it worse!

SHOVELLING.. that's the ONE thing I hate.. I love shovelling! I actually ask others if they want their driveways cleaned... Their first question is "How much?" But I don't take money...I actually enjoy it...I'm not like the norm, I realize this...And I love cleaning... Yeah...I'll stop now before I reveal all of my geeky traits...

Posted: 12/7/2006 6:08:43 AM | Worse thing about winter...seeing all the wild animals, (birds, squirrels and stray cats) freezing their butts off ...if I could I'd bring them all into my house till spring but alas at least they're well fed out front and they seem content...

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 6:49:33 AM | It's got to be the slushy curbsides at sidewalks and shopping parking lots! And I hate my son returning home dumping his pile of soggy snowpants, mitts and boots and they're still soggy the next morning for school!
I love the cold, I love the crisp styrofoam crunching snow, I don't mind that my car refreezes on the inside after I get it all scraped and brushed off on the outside!

| What's Your Worst Pet Peeve About Winter? Posted: 12/7/2006 6:58:57 AM | AH, a chance to complain about winter....don't we love doing that?? But we are Canadians (I believe we have the choice to stay here in this climate, do we not....there are warmer places!!) But who doesn't love the changing of the seasons, I sure don't like the cold, but wouldn't want to live somewhere where you don't get to see the changing of the leaves, or have snow for Xmas!!
My list:
1) The damn snowplow passing just as you finish shovelling out the laneway! 2) The soggy, wet, smelly snowpants, mittens and hats!! 3) Dressing up like Nanook of the North, and having to drive like that, only to be too warm 10 minutes later and have to try to strip of layers while you drive! 4) THE DRIVING...road conditions, other drivers not being smart, taking conditions into consideration etc 5) The fact that it is my daughter's first winter driving alone...thank God for CAA!
But all this is worth the clean white scenery after a snowfall, sliding with the kids, making a rink on my side lawn (even standing out in -30 at 9 o'clock at night to flood it!), Xmas with my family, and hockey season.
