| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 8:10:34 AM | some women just aren't into it...i'm not...
my mom has a harley and rides around with bikers, she has all the leather gear and stuff...goes to Daytona, kicks back and drinks with them...her boyfriend is a biker too...there is an attitude and lifestyle there, that I can't explain...I don't understand the attraction to it at all...but that is just me...
there are lots of other women who love it...you just have to find one of those women

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 8:23:09 AM | A couple of possible issues include:
1. They may think you're a bad boy "poser" as opposed to a real bad boy. Posers are a turnoff. 2. They may think you're going through an early mid-life crisis, the old stereotype of buying a motorcycle.
If it's not working for you, downplay it. Take the pics of your bikes off your profile and see if that makes a difference.

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 8:55:42 AM | | this was a forum to ask women what they think of men who rides harleys not why i cant get women, just asking the ladies how they feel about men who ride harleys. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 9:04:23 AM | I LOVE Harleys/Motocycles. My BF and I are getting ours this Spring.
But not sure why some women don't like it. To each their own. They don't know what they're Missing.

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 9:16:24 AM | | I do not agree with the young lady who said it is a life style. There are lawyers, Dr.'s, executives that ride harleys. I believe it's the spirit of the person. If you enjoy riding a harley let your spirit feel the wind on your face. For those who don't, they should not hold it against you because you ride. I plan on being a silver haired (some day) old lady with my face in the wind. RIDE ON! | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 9:17:06 AM | Just supplying you with some possible reasons why women don't like motorcycles. By POF rules, you can't shut genders out of discussions.
Another possible reason: The stats show, per vehicle mile, you are 34 times more likely to die on a motorcycle than in a passenger car. By comparison, not using your seatbelts in a car only doubles your risk of death. These stats don't address non-fatal injuries. Some women don't want to date men who may have to be scraped off the road at some point. Similar as to why some women don't want to date cops ie. if the woman is prone to worrying, this activity of yours won't help.

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 11:17:36 AM | I can't speak for ALL women, but I personally think that it's sexy as hell. I am not sure if it's the badboy image, or just the appearance that your secure in yourself. Everytime I hear a Harley, it definately turns my head........ | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 11:32:39 AM | well I speak from my experience with my mother and her friends...it is a lifestyle...the guys and gals who are the true ''biker'' type....not the docs, lawyer, etc...but the ones who have embraced the whole biking image...and tha'ts what my mom is into...almost every item of clothing she owns is emblazened with some harley image...and her friends do have the long hair and the beards...and while they may not be ''bad boys'' that is the image that comes across...
i'm sure that exhileration you get on a bike is the same exhileration I get when i'm dancing and get into my zone...
but i've met a lot of women into the whole bike thing...so i dont think this guy will have any problems finding dates

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 12:04:32 PM | To go along with that stat:
The risk of death for those under age 40 is nearly double the rate for riders over 40.
3/4 of the time, the accident involves another vehicle - usually a passenger car. 2/3 of the time, the driver of the other vehicle is at fault.
The single most common configuration is when a car turns left into the path of an on-coming motorcycle.
1/4 of accidents are single-vehicle crashes 2/3 of which are rider error (running wide in a curve, or overbreaking and sliding)
Women, students, laborers, those using alcohol, and riding choppers or cafe races were more likely to be involved in crashes.

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 12:19:12 PM | I think my daughter accounts for some of those statistics...she was in three accidents this past year...totalled two cars and the last one they refused to total out since it was a brand new mustang...
i notice a lot of these harley people don't use helmets either...i know it's a choice...but seems it would be a wise one...

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 12:27:19 PM | Good grief dude, ya gotta lose that photo. The mirror in the background really makes ya look like a crazy ass freako type with some kind of weird ass horns. Im serious man, its freaky. Now about the Harleys issue, cant ya just say motorcycles, cause I wouldnt have one of those way overpriced hogs. I have a large cruiser of another brand & would not trade it for two hogs. I dont have any trouble what so ever per finding ladies who like to ride, & they dont give a rats ass per the brand name. Hell, there is even a biker dating site called bikerkiss.com that has loads of gals who like bikers plus have their own bikes. Good luck pal, & for the hell of it, reelcrazy as a handle might also be scaring off the action. This wisdom was free, so use it as you may, but always keep a good sense of humor cause life works better that way. Cheers Rick | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 12:54:03 PM | All motorcycles are risky. This is a statistical fact. Riders can do much to mitigate those risks - helmets, armored clothing, careful riding, classes, etc. Regardless, the crumple zone on a bike is usually the rider.
As a motorcyclist, I have known women who were quite attracted to the risk-taking element. I have also known women who would have nothing to do with me because I rode a motorcycle. I lack sufficient experience to come to a good conclusion.
Perhaps the OP has been meeting risk-averse women?
Also, some women are attracted to the Harley "look" - the leathers, bandanas, etc. I sense this is the bad-boy attraction at work. Harley has done a superior job of marketing the HD motorcycle lifestyle and the company should get much credit.
What most non-riding folks don't know is that motorcycling is very tribal, there are sub-groups within the overall motorcycling community.
1. Harley people (with sub groups like outlaws, RUBS, choppers, etc) 2. Metric Cruisers 3. Sportbikers (and groups within this group, too!) 4. Gold Wingers (the new Gold Wing has an airbag!) 5. Adventure Riders (that's me... Florida to Alaska then to the bottom of South America is my next big trip!) 6. Dirt Bikers 7. Other Tourers (Iron Butt, enough said)
Did I miss one? | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 1:11:44 PM | | Well....to me a motorcycle is a must. Harley riders are a different breed but that is a good thing. I love bikes and I couldn't imagine a life without one. The problem (I don't think) is some of the guys who ride them. To me it has nothing to do with the bike! My attitude I can't date a guy that doesn't ride....take care and let me know how your search goes | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 4:55:01 PM | | Hey twowheels where do I sign up for that Florida to Alaska ride. I promise to sit still and hold on tight. I used to be with a local club here and I loved every second of it. It isnt so much the man or the machine that I find alluring it's the freedom you feel. But it's not for everyone. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 5:05:48 PM | I ride.....not a harley, tho. (couldn't find one to fit me or my budget). I've found that most "harley" riders are pretty snobby---and here I thought it was about riding not about WHAT you ride.
Scared??? heck no!!!!!

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/8/2006 5:37:19 PM | | I can't speak for all women, but I like Harleys, although I don't own one. I think men who ride motorcycles are HOT!! And personally, I prefer bad boy posers to actual bad boys. The illusion is there, which is a turn-on, but posers are probably safer. (But is that an illusion also? Can't tell.) | |
