Lovely idea, cross country skiing (on easy groomed trails) a nice lodge and fireplace to relax in after... hmm
Of course.. living in Barrie has it benefits for this

My grandfather used to manage the Barrie Country Club cross country ski center during the winter.. (and was the Greens Keeper during the spring/summer).. when i was 12.. i put in close to 50 kms of X-C a weekend.. it was a lot of fun !!!!

I also did Horshoe Vally and a few other area resorts. it was always a good time. swish swish..
but now i hate winter.

I went cross country skiing in Nova Scotia when I was younger as part of a employee apperciation day... I had NEVER been and was assured by one of my fellow co-workers that she was a expert at skiing and she would "TEACH ME"... ya ok... we had to go up a lift at this mountain for cross country and she failed to mention the last time she had gone skiing was when she was 10 and only told me when the "Get prepared to jump" sign came into view as we were going up the lift and she panicked.

She jumped and landed on her butt... me? Well I opted to hold onto the T-bar when I "jumped" they had to shut down the lift pry me from the T-bar

We then went to the cross country map and picked the easy trail... I was doing great until my "experienced co-worker" stuck her ski in a hole in the trail and fell face first... I looked back and laughed so hard and didn't notice how off course I had gotten until I ran into the tree fred flinstone style... I was not impressed.
NOTE: Falling into a tree while cross country skiing WILL knock the wind right out of you!!!

The trip back down the lift was a very embarrassing 5 minutes as all the little kids pointed at laughed at us

Needless to say that was my first and last ski trip... I'm fine with going to a ski resort as long as they have a warm chalet with a vareity of drinks I can choose from

Woo ! old cross country skiing !
HAHA
I use too cross country ski. But never on a groomed trail as those suck. And thats not cross country thats track skiing . Look they call it cross country for a reason and no not on trails.
Thats like having a snow mobile and only driving on groomed trails. What a waste of winter.
I have not skiied cross or down hill in about 10 years or so but it can be a ton of fun for sure.
No I do not wish it would snow as I don't love the snow at all .
But this is a good idea though .

I have trails on my property, you could all come over, but my fridge isn't big enough for all your beer. Of course there would be a waiver to sign.

Jackrabbit Johannson taught me to ski. That was when he was only 65. Darn, I miss the old guy. I have 3000 acres of crown land next to me, so if you guys want to really X-country, then get your butts up here.
