So, am I the only one here who DOES NOT have the Christmas Spirit??? I don't know what it is ... could be the lack of snow around these here parts, could be the lack of Christmas Carols on the radio, could be me PMS'ing (Yes we men DO, not physically but emotionally and mentally), but I don't feel it. I don't feel the Christmas cheer. Am I alone or are there those of you who are Humbigging it like me????

Im not feeling the Christmas Spirit either. My family did our celebration yesterday and it was boring. The only thing that made me smile was my ancient father ripping open his gift to find out that I bought him an RC Hummer. He loved it! The rest - blah. No matter how many fun times I have out partying at different social functions - Im still BLAH in the holiday spirit dept.

Christmas has a spirit? Goddamn! That's some scary shit! Spirit of Christmas floating around in peoples houses, turning tv's on at random etc.... Okay, enough about that.
I don't have the Christmas "spirit" or what have you, It's been a stressful time for me, and well, it also doesn't help that growing up I never really celebrated Christmas so this is still kinda new to me. But this year that little bit of extra "cheer" just isn't there for some reason. It's because of polution, I'm all foggy inside lol

I think there's incredible pressure on many people to spend loads of cash and to find a partner, to fall in love and be with family whether we want to or not.

Lots of depression this time of year and high expectations.

I must say we do need a little snow - just a little though - I want people to be able to make my house Xmas eve for a visit!!! I am getting more of the spirit this year - haven't had it in years!! My Hammer friends who joined in on wishing me a Happy Birthday last week really helped to raise my spirits. (Of course the wishes here too!!) Along with our patio hopping gift exchange night!!! It's given me the kick in the butt to reach inside and pull out that joy that was tucked away some 25 plus years ago!!! Knowing that I am truly loved and that my kids are happy as well, helps this year!!! I actually put out some lights this year!!!

Nope, no Christmas spirit here either. I wish we could just fast forward to spring. I didn't have any spirit last year either. Perhaps not having money to be able to buy gifts for everyone I would like to doesn't help. I like giving, that's the best part of Christmas as far as I'm concerned.

OH Thank God it isn't just me!!! I haven't even put any decorations up yet - maybe that is my problem...but I just can't find the energy or the desire to do it! The only reason I even shopped this weekend was because if I keep putting it off, the kids would be very angry come next week lol!! No Christmas spririt here what-so-ever - and I guarantee it has NOTHING to do with no SNOW. If there was snow, I would be even more depressed!

Since when was Christmas about snow and presents?

I hear that from so many people...
Aww, there's no snow, it's not Christmas...
Aww, I'm not getting the things I want, it's not a good Christmas...

I don't even celebrate Christmas. But even I know that it's not about the weather, or the presents, or the hype caused by the greeting card people...
Christmas is about celebrating a wonderful time of year with friends and family. About treasuring each other. And realizing just how lucky you are to have what you do.

Now stop your whining and go be happy dammit!

I really can't decide anymore if i'm in the Christmas spirit right now or not. Sometimes i'm REALLY in it and i'll sing along to the Christmas carols on the radio and other days i'm like meh.... don't really care. I think it's more or less if i'm having a happy cheerful day then i'm in the spirit... if i'm having a yucky nothing is going right kinda day then i'm not in the spirit.

Christmas is about celebrating a wonderful time of year with friends and family.

not everyone has someone to celebrate with... and that's when it's really, REALLY hard to find the "spirit of the season".

unless it's vodka...

Celebrating with someone doesn't have to be in the flesh.
I celebrate holidays with friends and family all over the world. A nice phone call... or a heartfelt letter...
Just letting them know that you're with them in heart and spirit, if not body.

Can I come over T? I almost got some spirits today too, but with my frame of mind, I figured it would not be a good idea!
I have not had much of the Christmas spirit for the past 5 years. I always was the kind of person who had all the christmas shopping done by the end of November, parcels sent off by the first week of December, house decorated including exterior lights, and tree up no later then the middle of Dec.
This year I put a small tree up, but all I can think of is how much of a pain it is to clean it all up after.
I managed to get a parcel off in the mail today for my son in Alberta, and he will not get it until sometime between Christmas and New Years. I have not done any other shopping, and I don't feel like doing it either.
I don't know what will lift my spirits at all! Maybe a fresh layer of snow and some uplifting music. Maybe a walk in the forest in the fresh snow and remember the wonderful times from years ago when I would help my Dad cut the Christmas tree.
Right now all this Christmas junk is interferring with my job searching plans....who hires at this time of the year????

Maybe T has the right idea...go pick up some spirits!

Somehow I am into the Humbug funk too.

Most of my friends and family had celebrations last weekend so with no snow and just a few Christmas carols ..I am with you on this one danteinferno.

The giver in me has temporarily left the building....

Since I am sort of in a grouchy mood I thought I would book the dentist and accupuncurist appointments this week. That should snap me out of it by the weekend.

Not even cold enough for a hot toddy.

another humbugger here

ever since my boy grew up and moved away i just don't feel it anymore.

pushy people in the malls...acting as if they don't see you, roads clogged with shoppers. can't even go into walmart for a few necessities without standing in line for half an hour.

even if there was snow...just something else to make me crabby.

i want summer back...bah!!

I have been down in the dumps more this Christmas than usual but I am fighting through that, and looking at the positives this time of year brings.
Sure it is not the same when you are alone, but Christmas is more than just gifts and snow and having someone close to you.
It is a frame of mind, something that dwells within, something deep within your heart that allows you to enjoy more than your own world at Christmas
It makes me smile to see houses decorated to the nines with lights, to see children on Santa's knee at the mall, and to see people whom at no other time of the year are actually kind to one another. I feel happy when I see other people who don't talk to family members all year, call a truce if even for one day. Some volunteer to feed the homeless Christmas Day at shelters. Nothing like seeing how the other half lives, to know that even though we may feel depressed, we should be thankful of what we have this time of year. It is the little things that magnify what Christmas is all about.
I just wish they could bottle this thing called Christmas and release a little of it all year long, so we would have this feeling 365 days a year instead of just on December 25.
So when you feel hum buggy, or whatever, think of Christmas as something inside of you, more than a challenge to enjoy, but a frame of mind and the ability to offer others some of the holiday spirit.

i can't believe all you's are missing the xmas spirit ...

we dont really celebrate christmas .. but the siblings get together and we have xmas lunch ... open the gifts (doing the kris kringle) saves us from having to spend loads of money which isn't what christmas is about .. and we play some games .. always fun

so smile ... think of how fortunate you are compared to the rest of the world and remember to be jolly ...

need a cheering thought ... think about all those that are currently in the midst of a war

just my 2 cents ... now where's that mistletoe?

I have the spirit, it's not the same it was when I was a kid and my mom was around but I have it to some degree.
Since X-mas is like 7 days away it will be my first while in a relationship, in almost 10 years.
So I am trying to kick myself in the butt and knock it up a notch.
I think I need to sit on Santa's lap and have a talk with him hehehe

Edit - On top once again, who wants to be on the bottom ??
