Posted: 12/26/2006 8:10:39 AM | I went to a Salsa one a few months back in Bognor. Going to one again in Feb. in Blackpool.
I don't think it's something to organise as a meet though- the one I went to had several thousand people signing up. Firstly I don't think there'd be several thousand people on here wanting to pay for a whole weekend where the only common thread is that we're on here, and secondly I think a singles event with that many people would be too big to be manageable- I went to one a while ago with a few hundred and I forgot everyone because there was too much going in. | |

Posted: 12/26/2006 8:11:38 AM | Ive been on a few over the years but at the hotels,grand ocean in brighton is very nice and these a pool,2 bar rooms etc...I mite be biased as ive been so much...It is however good value for money and budgets to suit all...The adult w/ends are good,eighties,fancydress,soul,country and wester even is fun...so maga you can count me in especially as im official badge maker lol...xx  | |

not been to one myself but i know loadsa people who have and they have a brill time, no kids and lots of and

jelly_tot: Butlins goes into limited-functionality mode when it's gearing up for and shutting down from the main tourist season. The parks- and evidently hotels- are available for exclusive hire during these times which is cool because you know that everyone there is part of the group. With the salsa ones, where the whole holiday camp is booked, it means people are free to dance in the streets while trying to figure something out without getting funny looks from normal tourists :) | |

Posted: 12/26/2006 8:27:24 AM | I used to work for Butlins-Haven-Warner. Most of the parks are closed for 3-4 months over winter. I'm guessing April is the reopening date..

One of the social clubs here organises one every year and they say they are great.

I mentioned it to mars a day (essex organiser) about what a laugh it would be getting a POF one
But it would be a hard task to arrange, would people book seperatly? and even then people would have to get into groups to share an apartment with. | |

I've been going to 70s weekends at Bognor for over 10 years and generally go twice a year - December and May. 8 of us are going in May. Obviously I think they're great but then I love the music and the culture and the dressing up. When I first went many years ago a lot of the original bands were still around, such as Sweet and Bay City Rollers. Nowadays its mostly tribute bands but they are really good. My favourites are Jean Genie and a Tribute to the Carpenters.
If anyone's there in May look me up. Not sure what I'll be wearing but probably silver platform boots and one night will be wearing an orange frilly shirt. I might be playing with my Clackers (whose gonna admit to remembering them?)

And yeh, the themed weekends are absolutely superb. Always a great atmosphere, and everyone has a fantastic time.

Errrmmm, me I'm afraid, and I still have the scars on my knuckles to prove it.
I've been to a couple of these weekends, allbeit several years ago, and would agree with the other posters here, they are great fun. Saw some excellent shows, and bands such as Mungo Jerry.

There are allsorts of accommodation, rooms, apartments, hotel etc.so you wouldn't necessarily have to share and the dinner bed & breakfast deal is good value (all you can eat style buffet). I know some people think an 'adult' weekend maybe filled with drugs sex and booze, well it is lol (not for me, i like dancing with my girlies lol) but it is what you make it...i for one feel more at home, more accepted and more alive there than i do in my local pub...
My advice, go and live life, you never know unless you go...... and the drive back home is filled with thoughts such as.....What am i doing with my life, why cant i be happy like that all the time, i am attractive beautiful and life is good...and the most important thing of all.....When is the next one!

Glad you enjoyed your weekend. a group of female  are there in july summer party weekend (adults) we went last year and it was great. but we know how cream crackered it leaves us.  for a week afterwards.
