| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 12/26/2006 9:26:12 PM | I have heard this saying sooo many times and I guess I would have to agree. I am quite a sponataneous person, and keep variety in my life. My friends always tell me they either go along for the ride, knowing they will have a blast..... or live vicariously through me lol. So I guess my life is nice and spicey at times.
I guess I would like to see this thread answer these two things:
1. What is it you did today to spice up your life a bit?
2. What is it you do to spice up your lifew in general?

| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 12/27/2006 6:10:40 AM | We adapt to any pleasure that’s repeated too quickly, which is why the tenth bite of that decadent cheesecake is never as good as the first. Variety improves the things that we do too often. But, the real secret of variety, like the secret of all spices, is knowing when to use it.
1. I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning. It might not have spiced up my life but my kids thought it was an awesome treat.
2. Generally I try not to let myself get into routines. I’m easily bored and if I do the same things, in the same ways all the time life become monotonous and I hate that.
|
| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 12/27/2006 8:17:45 AM | It's all about reinforcement. The repeated payoff eventually loses its reinforcing value....thus extinguishing the value of the reward/payoff.......Routine breeds this and will eventually, as they say, make for a very dull existence. We all fall into ruts and there really isn't much you can do about it. I had an 11 yr old boy walk up to me at the rink a few months ago and tell me what I had at Tim's every morning....Large dubba dubba and a Blueberry Bagel toasted with Herb and Garlic cream cheese.....word for word. Now it's a small town and I know his mother works at Tim's so I laughed and asked him if he could get me a company discount....lol...then it was his turn to laugh. Next morning I ordered a Extra large dubba dubba and a bran muffin.....Teach her!!!!!!
Hmmmmm.....2 things ya say....
1. I rarely drink by myself....always tastes funny alone...Last night I had two beer and they were actually quite tasty.
2. This morning I had hot choclate instead of coffee (does it matter that I forgot to pick up coffee)
|
| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 12/27/2006 1:54:31 PM | Very good answers Jaded Imp... I am truly loving alot of posts you have been making. It is very refreshing.
1. Today I haven't done anything yet to spice up my life, although I may be making a road trip tonight to Moncton, just for coffee.
2. I hate routine when it comes to my life. I am always up for most things and need that little extra spark to keep things spicey.

| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 12/30/2006 10:04:22 AM | Last night I went out dancing with Friends..plus I tormented the shit out of my roomie. I had fun lol.
Now what can I do for tonight that would be different and maybe spontaneous???
|
| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 1/2/2007 11:01:54 AM | I am thinking tonight I might want to play the game Frustration... to get my frustrations out. Who wants to join me?? lol
I think Spontaneity is the biggest key to keeping ones life spicey. Being able to just pick up and do something crazy at the spur of the moment.

| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 1/2/2007 4:15:05 PM | Spiced up my life today by working in the field instead of running my business from behind the desk - different being out on the road again and not in the comfort of my office
What do I spice my life up in general with - hanging with all my PoF friends on a regular basis and having great times with them
|
| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 1/2/2007 7:46:41 PM | Hey funky.. I don't think anyone is too spicey lol. Do u have some hot sauce or hot peppers we can use lol. maybe banana peppers lol.

| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 7/6/2008 12:02:49 PM | Keeping busy is what I do these days. Since I'm trying to sell my home I'm busy keeping the grass cut and the bed made up, LOL. I'm keeping things in 'showing' condition most of the time, but it's hard! I have to eat and that means doing dishes afterwards, cleaning up pots & pans, and wiping up the splashes on the stove, UGH!
I'm the least domestic person I know of so it's tough for me to be chasing after every speck of dust, and with a long-haired cat who sheds it's a challange to keep the shine on anything. AND, I still have that problem of trying to sleep about 2 or 3 feet above the actual bed, but I can't get the knack of it. So it's either get used to making it up every dang day, or sleep on the floor with the cat!
This is not what you may call 'spicy' but it's about all I have time or energy for right now, however, I'd quickly change my mind about that if the right spice came along!
|
| Variety is the Spice of Life Posted: 7/6/2008 1:35:17 PM | Work is about all the spice I can stand. I apparently work with a few Drama Queens and I sure could get along fine with much less Drama.
However, life in general is good, for the most part and I, like Mara, might be willing to alter my schedule for the right spice.
