Suggestion about deleted posts

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before. I did look through a search for "deleted posts" and didn't find anything quite like the suggestion I have.

I wonder if it is possible, when a post is deleted - in place of the post a message such as "Post deleted due to..." that way, the people who are going into the forum to read the updates on a particular thread may know why things have vanished.

I think it would lend to a less confusing environment. As sometimes one post will be deleted, but the posts in response to that post are not deleted, so new readers are looking at it going "Where the heck did that come from?"...

It might take some of the hidden hostility out of posting.

Just a thought... :)

The reasons for thread removal in the FAQ that's posted at the top of every forum can also be extended to individual posts and if there are any subsequent posts that reference the deleted post, should also be removed too - as it would make sense. Sometimes we may miss one of these posts made in reply - our apologies, drop a note to the ADMIN: Forum Rule violations thread and note URL and message number if you see one.

To note every post that is removed is simply not feasible due to limited resources. We rely on users to read the FAQ and realize that if a post is gone, it's for one of the reasons in the FAQ or in the Acceptable Use & Posting Rules.

One of the mods will possibly give you the stats but there are tens of thousands of posts per day. Some are reported and deleted by the VOLUNTEER mods. There simply isn't the time to do that, the task would be extremely cumbersome. Plus some threads are already deleted by vote, hence wouldn't be available.
Threads are deleted for violation of posting rules, an understanding of the rules and TOS and it's pretty easy to figure out.

No, rules are pretty much ubiquitous.

Another suggestion,

Lots of threads break a rule without intentions to... and end up in the g-can.
Lots of threads are funny, creative, cute, interesting,.... but break a rule...and end-up in the can.

Not to complain but, sometimes, I feel like the Gestapo is after me for crimes my distant cousin did in world-war-one. And I'm surely not alone to feel it. If fact, I suspect the g-can to be bigger than the site.

My suggestion is Recycling.... a forum categorie.
You don't have to recycle everything.. you know...like in real life.
With a "warning..bla bla" in the entrance..

No more "pof suc*s" affirmations from frustrated users.
No more endless justification...

I just wonder if it wouldn't be the most popular place on pof.
People are very curious.

Just a suggestion.
