| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/29/2006 10:19:11 AM | Just want to know what other Liverpool F.C fans or football fans think of the impending takeover of the club?.I've got a funny feeling that the Sheikh is having second thoughts and will decide against investing in the club which isn't a bad thing cos i am not very keen on him anyway!.We do however need funding for the new stadium as well as players cos LFC is falling behind the likes of Man Utd,Chelsea and even a***nal. The new lads that came in like Pennant and Gonzales have failed to impress still i believe Rafa is the correct man for the job. Speak up!!!! | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/29/2006 10:47:45 AM | So, why didn't you want this new bloke to buy the club? What did you have against him?
After all, he would have brought the new money you want.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/30/2006 9:54:31 AM | MSG 1,
you say "Liverpool is falling behind the likes of Man United,Chelsea ans even Ar$enal"
Clearly you do not refer to the history and the titles as Liverpool have got more and still they are recognized as the best british football club together with Celtic Glasgow.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/31/2006 9:58:31 AM | | I think having no debts and a 60,000 seater would be magnificent. As long as he doesn't screw with our traditions then I'm all for the take-over. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/31/2006 10:13:08 AM | MSG 3 Equally clearly, you have missed two points.
The OP referred to the fact that Liverpool is "falling behind" with regard to other named clubs. If you examine its final league position in the years since it last won the English title ( it has never won the Premiership), you will note that several other clubs have done better in that period.
History means nothing, in this context. It's all very well acknowledging its previous Championships, but achievements count for nought......the OP appears more concerned about the future of the club, not the past.
As for Glasgow Celtic being the second best club in Britain, we should debate that in another thread.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/31/2006 3:02:15 PM | I don't think LFC's falling behind at all... even with the lack of funds the team has still managed to be in a contender/UEFA CL position.. With DIC taking over I have very high hopes for the team, but hope Rafa would still have control over while, while DIC provides the necessary funding for the stadium, youth program, transfers etc.. Money can't win the game of football, it definitely helps when it comes to individual skill, but we all know it's an 11 man game and if 11 people can't work together nothing will get accomplished..
Debate about Celtic being second best club in Britain, by what account? That's definitely a debate for another post..

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 1/1/2007 4:05:20 AM | MSG 5,
yes Liverpool have done less than other english teams during recent years in the Premiership and i DID agree with it but you can not say that history means nothing, the history is everything and the history tells us that the Reds are one of the biggest clubs in the world, just like the history tells us that the Greek Empire or the Roman or the Persian have been perhaps the greatest empires the man has ever seen.the history is wiser than you and me Vin,just my opinion :-)
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 1/1/2007 4:22:17 AM | MSG 7 Thanks for missing the end of my sentence in your response to MSG 5.
I did not state or imply that "History means nothing". The full sentence ran: "History means nothing, in this context."
By leaving off the final three words, you changed the meaning of my statement.
The OP is not discussing Liverpool's achievements; he is concerned about its FUTURE success. That is the topic of the thread, and it is that which the OP wishes to discuss.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 1/1/2007 8:48:02 AM | well i remember some years ago when Tony Blair stated that he and his goverment did NOT want and did NOT agree with Manchester United to be bought.i do not remember his exact words but it was about that football clubs are very deep-rooted into the english society with fans and feelings involved in it so he was against the idea,in fact i think that he said that he would not allow it.
it seems that Blair and me agree on something.............
therefore i would never agree with Liverpool being bought (have they not been bought yet?)
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 1/2/2007 1:41:06 AM | MSG 9 "therefore i would never agree with Liverpool being bought "
Fair comment, but I should remind you that the club has already been "bought" on several occasions in the past. It is presently owned buy one set of shareholders who bought it from a previous set.
I assume that you meant you didn't want this particular purchase to occur?
Fair enough, but the club needs new money from somewhere...
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 1/2/2007 8:39:54 AM | because i admire Liverpool does NOT mean that i know everything about the Reds as i had no idea that they are owned by shareholders nor did i know they were bought on several occasions.
therefore what i meant was about what the starter of the thread stated

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 7:19:39 AM | | Watched The Reds dismantle Marseille the other day. That goal by Torres was pure genius. That said, As far as French football is concerned Marseille is no Lyon by a long shot. But Torres..Maturing nicely ... | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 11:11:02 AM | yeah at last an American who knows how to enjoy a good sport
Torres is majestic. some months ago i already said he would become a star in England and facts show i was right. he is the typical strong forward who knows his duty: to score goals and no more
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 11:35:45 AM | | did you know soccer was invented in america. torres is a loser who should be embrassed of himself and just retire now. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 11:53:02 AM | a loser? you are talking about one of the best forwards in the world, what the hell do you know about football?
and as for the sport invented in USA, well i just do not know.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 11:57:58 AM | | i have absolutley no idea what im talking about. i never even heard the name torres before i was glancing at this post. i just wanted you to know what it feels like when a moron comes around and trys to tell you about something they know nothing about. i invented soccer a couple weeks ago | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 12:03:39 PM | you prat with a brain full of sand!
the only moron here is you! i have never stated to know something about baseball you idiot!
by the way, next time to mention Fernando Torres you should wash your mouth
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 12/14/2007 12:11:28 PM | | as a matter of fact i have been debating baseball semantics with you for quite a while now. you invade my world i will invade yours. you choose to accept this debate i am only returning the hospitality deal with it. i saw this video of fernando giving head to beckam, it was pretty hot. leave me alone and ill leave you alone. dont post another word about baseball and i wont post about precious torres or soccer for that matter | |
