There have been many threads about fat men or women, and whether or not they are attractive, but hardly anything about short men. What if a guy is around 5'7 or 5'6 or even 5'4? Any ladies care to comment? And does weight become more or less of an issue in relation to height?

I am 5 feet tall, so I think that short men are fine, as are all men.

Nope. Won't date a man shorter than me. They may be so gorgeous (and often they are) but I have an issue with that considering I'm 5'9".

Who knows. Fate's probably going to sneak up on me now for saying that. But in all honesty, I have not dated a man shorter than 6'0" before.

short, tall,,skinny, fat, what I don't want is average, complacent, boring, unadventerous, unaffectionate, unemployed, unsatified with life, packaging is only that.

Some women have a hang up. Its all about your own cofidence and your pace in my opinion.

I like describing myself as 5'4", bald, and 160 lbs. That weeds out the really physically shallow gals anyway. The real balance is being able to come across as confident without appearing**** or having short man syndrome.

Basically, to some gals it matters. I have found, the really really tall gals dont mind as much, as they are as used to guys being shorter as us guys are of people being taller. (current GF is 6'2")

As a matter of fact, a study was recently done this. There is a "Short Man's Club" and they selected three shorter-than-average men...the shortest of which I believe was five feet. They put them in a line-up with several other average-looking men (all of which were taller, of course) and then brought in several women behind a one-way mirror and asked them who they would date based solely on looks. Keep in mind all of these men were average-looking, the only place they differed was their height. All of the women chose one of the tall men. Then the women were told that the shortest man was kind, caring, dressed well, etc.....still no takers. Finally, the women were each told he was a millionaire. They STILL wouldn't date him. Being a man and being short....sorry to say....you have your work cut out for you. Especially when it comes to dating taller women. Best of luck!

Yeah, there's this woman that I saw working at the convenient store, and pretty darned attractive for a convenient store clerk, probably early 30's. (Most convenient store clerks, in these parts, seem to look like 500 miles of hard road behind them)

Made me wonder why she works there, instead of a Cute waitress at a Chili's or what not.

Anyways, she looks taller than me, I think...I am 5'8" and she looks around, 5'10", I got to chatting her up, and well, I'm tempted on asking her out, because when I asked what her activities were, she said her day job, night job, and her 13 year old son.

So nothing about a sig other or a hubby.

Should I even bother giving it a go, just because she's taller than me, based on Purples statement?

No weeding out required! I'm not on the market! LOLOL

Honestly, it's an issue I have and I don't look badly upon those who are shorter. I just prefer to feel 'protected' in his presence, and the taller, more imposing physical-ness attracts me.

I'm a strong female, both physically and in personality. I intimidate a lot of men, so I think that in being with a taller man, the taller the better (and built in some sense, not rail-thin) makes me feel more feminine. Don't get me wrong, many shorter men are indeed masculine - but I'm talking strictly on a physical level in conjunction with my personality.

It's not a conscious decision, I just find myself more attracted, or instantly attracted, to a man with height.

In actuality, I COULD say, I prefer to date women with D cup breasts...however, I can do with smaller boobs as well. I don't know how that would compare to a height requirement (not preference).

Maybe women who don't pick shorter or fatter men are intimidated by them as well. Think about it....why are they being picky? You think a tall man is looking for an averaged sized woman? Or one thats as tall as them? I'll bet you some of the taller guys would turn around and pick the shorter women.

a new relationship has alot to do with physical attraction..just because a woman doesnt go for a short guy, does not mean she is shallow!!

Im 5'7" and I dont really like dating women taller than me, so it doesnt bother me, but if a girl is shorter than me and still has a problem thats ok, because no ones perfect. If being short is my only problem I am doin pretty good.

I am 5' even. I would pick someone closer to my own height before I would date a tall dude. I just ain't attracted to the tall ones....don't know why. 5' to 5'9" - maybe not even that tall. Guess I don't want to have to jump up on the coffee table for a kiss. Thank Goddess there is a wide variety out there.

height doesnt affect our capability to love and to nurture a relationship.

No, Vandelai, it does NOT mean that at all.

Everyone has ideas of what they find attractive and each brings a different characteristic into the fold.

You cannot fault someone for what they find attractive. It's either there or it isn't. I don't fault people for not liking overly thin or plump people as they know what they find attractive, and the same thing goes for taller or shorter people. Some men prefer the petite ladies and I'm not that, so I accept it and move on. I prefer larger men in general, as opposed to what some may consider 'petite' men.

That's life, and we're not shallow for it. If however, there was a man that totally knocked my socks off in every other area, but didn't have the height, I could over come that. However, in most cases it's the initial physical attraction that gets people to notice one another. It's worked for and against all of us at some point in our dating lives.
