Any advice on Profile?

Have had profile up for a few weeks and as have never done any of this before I would appreciate any help you can give.

I realise there is no photo up at the moment but for the time being it is best I just send them privately to people I contact, (judging from responses received after photo sent best left off LOL).

Any wording advice would be nice. Thanks.

First impressions are lasting ones. Who are you looking to respond to you? What's your reasons for using this website, friends? Then tell the world why you'd make a good friend.

Dating? Tell the world what you'd think a first date should be.

Think of that while writing it and don't repeat yourself.

Spelling is a biggie with me, (pet peve) run your profile through a word processor before posting.

Look at other's profiles and make a note of what you LIKE about them, try and model yours to give the same impression.

Find a photo you like, doesn't have to be of you.. and post that. Hope this helps you.

Separated from wife of umpteen years, I need to find myself some company, new friends and some new adventures, as well as someone to keep warm with on winter nights.

You mention that you're separated in the section above, so I would leave that out of your profile in this area. Everything in the description should be positive, so I'd change this and remove the part about being separated, or "finding some new friends." That sounds like you're looking for someone to complain to.

Two things--being separated and having no photo--will keep most ladies from writing.

Put yourself in a woman's shoes:

You're a married man who won't list his profession, or show his picture, who's looking for 'someone to keep him warm on winter nights'. Most reasonable people COULD conclude you just want to get some on the side.

If you're getting divorced, say so.

Post a picture. Otherwise it looks like you don't want anyone to know you're on the internet, looking for women.

State your profession.

Good luck

Thanks for all the advice. Some mixed stuff but will change a few bits asap. Thanks for that.

You are right Martin, it COULD look that way, I assure you it's not but see what you mean. I always attach a photo when I send a response to people but for the moment for one certain reason, it's best kept out of public profile.
