I'm shocked to see how many men have cats. I thought that straight guys weren't very fond of cats. Men always talk about how they don't like women who own too many cats or who talk about their cats all the time. So why do so many men have them?

My daughter talked me into taking one of hers off her hands. I kept saying no. She did the doey eye thing until I took it.

Hello
I have two cats and they are the best pets. The breed is very affectionate and always around you(devon rex is the breed).
I would not want to many pets around of any type.
I'm not a dog person at all.I don't dislike them, just not into dogs.
All The Best.

I've always preferred cats to any other animal. They're low-maintenance and cute. What more could you want? :P

I personally prefer cats to dogs. They are cute and clean and dont poop aimlessly. ( I dont like big furball cats that shed everywhere )

My ex left the cat here!

Well, anyway, she's a cute lil bugger. Scared of her own shadow tho.

Sounds like what most guys (I know) want in a female. Cute and low maintenance lol.

But yes, I notice many men are cat people. My best friend adores cats, and I could never understand it. I never peg men to like cats because they seem.. I honestly dont know. Feminine-ish? Anyways, its odd, but I dont mind; I like cats, so its all good.

Shows you thought wrong.

As has been already noted, they're cute and low-maintainence.

They also don't roll around in whatever stinky thing they can find.

They don't hump your leg.

They don't sniff your date's crouch.

They don't crap all over the lawn.

They don't pee all over the neighbourhood.

...And they don't slobber all over you If they lick you.

Give me a cat everytime.

Neighbors that were moving last spring asked if I would take their cat. We always had cats in our family and it had been many years since I had a pet, but I said yeah!!! Sure!!!

Turns out to be a cool cat. Brings home squirrels, birds, and once a rabbit. Doesn't make any noise at all and is self sufficient. Hasn't eaten the sheetrock off the walls, hasn't torn up my shoes.

Goes outside----kills what he wants to eat----comes home and sleeps......gotta respect an animal like that. He is also a blast to watch after a little catnip. heh heh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard all the BS before about men and cats.

Ain't true at all.

I have 2 cats. Love them to death.. One hates the world and the other is a total sweetheart.

As stated above, the worst about a cat is you have to scoop the litter. Nothing else.

Too many cats, on the other hand, is weird. Someone who talks about their cats constantly and cant talk of anything else - comes off as odd.

Aw, a lot of straight guys either love cats or like/tolerate them. Some hesitate to admit it, because of the "cat-lady" stigma. Nothing more charming than catching a big, macho guy with a bemused look on his face playing with a kitten.

I hate cats. I perpetuate that men hate cats... not actively of course; but, me hating cats sorta gives all men a bad name... because you hate the fact that I hate cats so very much, it stands out much more than what any of the cat loving guys say.
Not only that
but you'd rather talk to cat hating guys
than cat loving guys.

AM I RIGHT????

(not to be a pig... but seriously)

I used to hate cats. Absolutely detest them. And I'm not sure why.

Then a girl I was living with wanted to get one, and I reluctantly agreed.

Now, I have two of my own. And I love 'em to death. They are my kids before I have kids. It may appear sissy to the men, but then - it's not the men who's opinions I care about now is it? :)

The key word in your paragraph would be "MANY" cats.

Bullys hate cats.

Cats are like women.

Never trust a man that doesn't like cats.

(I can't seem to figure out either though.)

My cat Bud read this post over my shoulder while finishing his evening coffee and asked me if this was true.. if i really did dislike him.

I told him no.. that he has been my best friend for almost 11 years and i know he would never betray me. He thanked me for the compliment and then went and stuck his head in my girlfriends lap.

Cats are cool.

...or any other man for that matter. (better answer)

I have noticed that alot of PUA (pick up artists) have cats, and cats are like women, so maybe its part of thier deep inner game.

I had a cat once, when I was a teenager. It was suposed to be a family pet, but it didnt want anything to do with anyone but me. I honestly have no idea why. He was pretty cool though, beat up dogs alot.
I personally dont like cats though, its just a personal preferance. I'd much rather have a big mutt dog.

The American Medical Association has performed studies that have proven that cats lower your blood pressure. Besides, it's nice to have a mellow pet that doesn't always need your attention.

Good to see another stereotype proven wrong!

Any guy who thinks having a cat somehow affects his masculinity is just insecure. It's the guys who like to swagger around with their pit bulls and rottweilers trying to look all macho and tough, who are probably more insecure. I'm not knocking those breeds, I love dogs, but you must know the type of guy I mean.

As for the litter box, that is the one downside, but I got my cat one of those automatic cleaning ones; its well worth it.

I have two cats. One is 18 and a half years old. I think he's hanging on out of spite. He's never been the friendliest cat with anyone but me. The other is a little female about a year and a half old. She's the sweetest cat I've ever had. A constant pain, but loveable.

I like dogs, too. But I can't have one where I live. My ex and our son have two and I love 'em. But she's always having to clean up where the dogs ate a piece of furniture or pooped in the house, as well as having to rush home all the time to walk them or feed them. My cats... a couple extra bowls of food and water, and I can be gone for the weekend.

at a time when eveything unfashionable is fashionable, how can you be so intrigued by this phenom?!? after all, this is the era of the metro sexual!

quite simply put, the men who own cats, are the same men who would rather own larger, more vicious breeds of cats, but for lack of proper facilities and insanely ludacris legislation, opt for something more civilized!

small like hamsters, easy like fish, challenging like women-ever see a cat bring its owner their slippers?!?!

oh...and they eat spiders!!!
