Posted: 1/9/2007 9:22:06 PM | Just curious how people around here feel about "touch". The good kind, like hugs, holding hands, the casual-arm-brush, etc. Are you comfortable touching and cuddling with friends? How about new friends, or new dates? What separates the nice touches from feeling invasive or creepy?
And be honest, how many of you have pretended to be able to read palms in order to grab someone's hand? (I have encountered several of you. I found it surprising.) | |

Posted: 1/9/2007 9:25:27 PM | For me its just a comfort thing. If I feel good then I don't mind the touchy but if I am unsure about them I get creeped out. And its something I can't tell until I meet them.
Some guys try to read palms to hold your hand? Aww thats kinda cute..I;ve never encountered one of those!
Usually I like just doing a hug at the end of the first meet...kissing would mean I was pretty interested. What bout you? | |

Posted: 1/9/2007 9:31:46 PM | I am all about communicating by touch, though I am very aware of an individual's personal barriers. With friends, hugs kisses, rubbing of arms and shoulders is common place.
Sometimes if there is alcohol  involved, there's the odd butt slap.
I sometimes feel victimized ;-)

Never really noticed it until recently, but if she's in front of me, or something, I just put my hand on the small of her back. I also tend to offer my hand a lot when getting in and out of cars, or if it's slippery. Not something I think about, just seems like what I should do.
Also, I love the feeling of a great hug. Especially if the woman is shorter than me (around 5'4 - 5'8 is perfect) and I can hold her. Something about being protective and just wanting to make all her worries go away just by holding her. | |

Posted: 1/9/2007 10:33:50 PM | I hate to let out a trade secret for the lost art of touchy-feely, but it is called partner DANCING.
Such an innocent way of being able to touch and hold a hand, touch a shoulder or an arm and even grasp the lower back with intent and power and NOT get your face slapped for being a complete stranger. On top of that, if the music is right, you can get real close with some of the manuvers and sometimes a full body hug can be incorported into the style of dance!!
And if the dancing is appreciated, you will end up probably getting a hug or two off the dance floor too!!
Ah, you young folks just don't know some of these timeless little secrets that make it all worth while!
