From down the road in Bedford, I am having a housecleaning parade. Got lots of mopping done. Cleaned my office up. Lots of things that I didnt have time for before. Also listening to lots of MP3's. Put my car in the garage after I saw what was coming.
Say, your posts and profile look very nice, shame your age limit is so restrictive.

| The Big Chill Posted: 1/15/2007 7:30:44 AM | | I am so hating this weather! Sports cars aren't made for driving in ice!! It was raining all night and this morning when I got to work but I don't know if it's started to ice yet. I've been in my warm office since 8 this morning and have yet to even look out the door. Sucks I have to work. 15 mile drive each way, yeah not fun. | |
|
| The Big Chill Posted: 1/15/2007 7:38:21 AM | Yes, that's just what I'm doing,, already called work to say don't look for me, I won't be there. I've got a fresh pot of coffee and a fire in the fireplace,,, yeah,,, fireplaces don't get much use in our part of the world. I love having an excuse for a big blazing fire... I'm going to put on a pot of venison chili after a while and the pinto beans are already in the crock pot.... Yummy... Don't envy any of ya'll who are out on the road today playing bumper tag. Most Texas folks, unless they are from Wichita Falls or Amarillo,, don't have any idea how to drive on ice.. Skidding into a guardrail with your pick-up is not normally considered a winter sport. lol tticker, I'll watch for your big buck,,, he may wander through my yard later today

| The Big Chill Posted: 1/15/2007 8:23:06 AM | | One winter I had the pleasure of a last minute business trip to upstate NY. They had a ice storm while I was there. They are used to snow but not ice and it was fun watching them play bumper cars. They don't have the excuse of living in the sun belt. Ice is slippery no matter where you find it. I haven't been sailing in two whole weeks! Bummer. At least the lakes are comming up. | |
|
| The Big Chill Posted: 1/15/2007 9:40:50 AM | You're right about that Dave, ICE is ICE no matter where you are, but having grown up in Michigan I have to agree, most of the people around here can't drive worth a dang on winter roads. It would help tremendously if they would salt the roads or use a sand mixture instead of rocks. I don't know about where the rest of ya'll live but they actually drop teeny tiny rocks on the ice here. It doesn't do a thing for the icey roads.
I'd much rather drive on snow given my choices. The trick to driving on ice ( from experience) is first don't panic. second, if you feel yourself start to slide around a little, slow down, by taking your foot off the gas, don't touch the brake unless you have to. If you have to use the brake don't stomp on it. Tap it, (frowns) hard to explain, my foot hasnt done it in a long time, lol.
Well anyway, just trying to be helpful, most if not all of you probably already know this stuff.

| The Big Chill Posted: 1/15/2007 10:05:56 AM | Whyspr,
Know what you are talking about. I had to drive in it all night last night. Luckily the roads were pretty much empty and there were only a few slick spots. Just kept cruisin' on though. Much nicer right now. We have a balmy 26 degrees and should have one more day of the single to low double digits tonight. This time I will be working inside. One thing with this weather, I don't have to meet any helicopters.
