| Moving to Hawaii Posted: 1/15/2007 10:05:12 AM | | I am on my way in October to Pearl Harbor. I will be stationed on a ship there in the Navy. Any good advice for me? I have never been there before, all I know about it out there is what I read on the internet. Thanks for the help and advice | |

If you want to and get the chance to, get over to the Big Island of Hawaii ... and explore over there. You can go to the Volcano National Park there. There's also a part of the island that still has a live lava flow.
It's very interesting. You can go to the following link and read about it.

At this link you can see that it only took the lava 45 days to wipe out a community.

They aren't experiencing that kind of lava flow right now, but there is still a place you can go to see the lava flowing.
Have fun ... Hawaii is a beautiful place. Anyone who is afraid of snakes ... need not worry. There are no snakes in Hawaii ... they are forbidden. | |

| Moving to Hawaii Posted: 9/3/2008 3:53:09 AM | Well, I guess the OP is long gone.. Probably on a big boat in the South Pacific somewhere, or something..
I hope to get back out there one day before too much longer as well. Had to leave for the Mainland about 10-11 years back, due to an emergency situation. Once you experience Hawaii though, as a homeland, as I did for many years, and once it becomes a part of you, nothing elsewhere is ever quite the same again. When you leave the Islands, you leave a huge piece of yourself behind, in the shadow of the palm trees..
Much of the Mainland is beautiful too, in very different ways. But it's just not Hawaii. For me, the northern shore of Maui (in particular), is the most serene and amazing place on Earth, and I've been around the ole globe a couple of times.
Okay, okay.. I've gotta stop thinking about it.. SO!! How about Eli and them NY Giants! Eh? Who knew??
Aloha, my island friends.. Know how blessed you are, to indeed be a part of Paradise.. -Suth'nBoy
