| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 12:52:20 PM | Hello,
What I have found interesting about this site is that I have developed online quirks. I can look at a profile and something about it turns me off. Whether it's in the wording, the picture or the message they send me. I don't mean this to sound snobby, that is not what I am getting at..but I find it funny that the things that would never bother me in a person to person meeting, bother me online.
Anyone have any quirks?
One of mine is the profile of the guy who shows their chest, tattoo and their dog but not their face...what is up with that????

I hate that. Why show us your body etc, but not your face? It doesnt make sense.
I also cannot handle people who don't use paragraphs, punctuation and grammar. It drives me crazy and I can't sit there and read through the profile.
I also hate when they put "Ladies choice" in the first date section. It sounds to me like they have no imagination. I want a guy to wow me :P

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 12:57:57 PM | Ok, LOL... from my experience:
Without a real face picture and only the following pictures, you can determine the psyche of the member.
pet pictures = low self esteem problems or just the simple desire to remain anonymous for whatever reason...
Artsy drawings = Low self esteem
Boobie shots = low self esteem or simply showing off the goods to fire up a one-niter! Wahooo!
Nice big smile? Good, confident, winner.
Weiner shot... ooops well, i guess those are not allowed...
(keep in mind that this psyche analysis isn't exactly a science, like scientology is... LOL) Just some observations i've noticed... a couple of odd pics are cool here and there, but all Pets or anything but your face pic? that's a sign.

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:03:06 PM | | some of the pics are just to funny for instance mens headshots laying in doorways what does that mean? Love those type of pics. I always thought the head cut off shots were so we could see what they looked like with a bag over their heads for future reference | |
|
| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:05:37 PM | Matt!
You are good! I wonder if there is a book out there based on these ancedotals? Thank God Weiner shots aren't allowed because I am sure the guys with the non-facial pic would love to put those up.
What about the picture of the truck or quad? What does that mean?
LOL | |

I hate it when ppl's profiles have pictures of multiple ppl...and NOWHERE is it listed which one is them!!!

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:10:17 PM | Holy Triple Post Batman!!
That's easy, those pics = low weiner esteem!!!!
(sorry boys)
Isn't a Corvette the quintessential relief from weensy weiner width?
(i love alliteration) | |

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:10:41 PM | I'm gonna guess that Shawn's not a doctor or engineer ;) "thats"=that's "opps"=oops "benifit"=benefit "there"=their "typo's"=typos
just a guess, mind you
I agree. I would add to that anyone who types in 1337-5p3ak, especially if they're supposedly adults or it's in their profile or forum posts. It's not "cool", it's not always clearly understood, it doesn't save any appreciable amount of time, and it doesn't make anyone look any smarter.

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:11:12 PM | What gets me is a boring profile!
Some of my favorite profiles.....shame she changed it because her profile was kick ass is "Wallflower". She added more stuff again but her profile is teh shiznit! Sassylittlething profile is pretty cool too...so is jadenewfie.
The profile for me is very important, i love to read them and i read them fully!
If you cant be original in writings it makes me wonder how original you are in real life. How Spontaneous, how can you plan etc etc.
Interests....omg can some of thse folks here interest be anymore....BOOOOOOORRRRIING!!
dining/shopping/hockey/reading......isnt that the same stuff MOST folks like?
How about adding the weird and quirky stuff like my good friend Palmgranite? Knitting!!
We all have some stuff that makes us more or less unique so why not display it proudly?
Another thing in a profile....when i read;
I am looking for a guy whose got his act together. Looking for a guy who knows where he is going. Looking for a guy who is stable financially/emotionally!
Ok, seriously, when is the last time you met someone who wanted to meet someone whose gona use you, take advantage of you (and not in the good way) and screw you around, break your heart? Come on folks!
Be real! We all want this!!!! Oddly enough i see women write this on their profile WAY WAY WAY more then on men's profile (Yes i check men's profile too) If i can learn something from another guy i will gladly do so.
I might add more later...but that is it for now!
I would add to that anyone who types in 1337-5p3ak, especially if they're supposedly adults
OMFG! You just hit the nail on the head there! One word in L337-5p3ak i can understand but every second word? Damn! grow the eff up! How about using full words! 2 is To or too...
4 is for....damnit how lazy ass you gota be to not type ONE EXTRA letter! When i read stuff like that it's akin to someone scratching a black board! How red neck do you gota be to not type one extra letter?
It isnt cool!
It shows, to me, a lack of vocabulary!
It's downright painful to read!
This isnt World of Warcraft/EQ/BF1942 it's ..dating!

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:13:13 PM | Yeah, that bugs me too... like when someone posts on the forums "just my humble opinion"
Of course it's your opinion, you wouldn't be typing it if it wasn't... duh.....
I think the biggest cure to Online Turnoffs is a humourous profile too. Well put.
OE: hahaha Frogo... wicked. (you got baited, you know)

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:20:02 PM | I hate when ppl dont actually read your profile..........but email you to say "I read your profile and I'm very interested in getting to know you" What exactly are you interested in???? It says "Not Single/Not Looking"
| |

What exactly are you interested in???? It says "Not Single/Not Looking"
I always email THEM back and ask em if its a couples thing...or do they find my S/O as hawt as I do.... Then I go into freaky/nasty/kinky stuff they can do with their foot in their ass.....But I always sugest they spit on it a few times first....helps ease it in!...
|
| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:23:46 PM | what exactly is 1337?
Kutie: OE: this is sort of a dating website, i think it's pretty much safe to assume if you're on it that people will expect most people, er, nearly everbody to be seeking...
|
| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:24:24 PM | Oh Frogo,
I have to agree on the TYPOS. I am school teacher and it drives me crazy that people do not take the time in THEIR profile to not make mistakes. I wonder if they even realize that they would BENEFIT from being careful with THEIR information. THAT'S all I have to say about this topic.
OOPS - I better go check my profile for errors....

I'm also one of those girls that's getting sick of seeing profiles that are all the same. I have a lot of profiles saved in my favourites because they're so funny. I wish I could find more funny ones ;)
I also dislike it when people message me or mail me and their profile has no picture and hardly content in it. What's the point? what's going to make me want to talk to you?
I'm sure there are more things that annoy me :)

| Online Turnoffs?? Posted: 1/17/2007 1:34:10 PM | I could go in details about L337 speaks but this web site explain it very well actually.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A787917
More or less a language used by gamers/hackers/kiddie script folks. Replace some letters by numbers and you got L337 speaks. L337 means "elite" a language that was created to portray that they are better than you and can frag your ass, your PC!
