Hey all....

Quick but important question.

The first time you ladies go over to your man's house for a drink, conversation or whatever and he is a bit sloppy, or even MESSY would you still consider a relationship with him?

Not nessesarily..
I mean..there is a line.
If there are used condooooms and mice on the floor, consider it done.
If theres a few boxers, t-shirts, shit like that...I don't really care.
As long as you can see more FLOOR than junky dirty clothes and stuff...I think its fine.
If you're climbing over his junk pile/old pizza boxes/dirty dishes...umm deal breaker!

this is funny, I don't mind a little mess. But I have to agree if he cleans better than I do. I'm gone. My home will never pass a white glove test and I'm happy with it. so if hes a bit messy as long as it isn't food or like the other poster said condoms then I'm fine with it. Oh the sheets and stool have to be clean.

If I like the guy enough I tell him that his place would be ALOT nicer if we spent a weekend together getting his house in order.I mean we just spent 8 hours on "my friends" bedroom alone on Friday! So messy can be a turn off but if he's worth it I put my neat freak skills to work.I also will call in the middle of the week to remind him to pick his stuff up so that when I do go over to chill I won't be cleaning the entire time.LOL Some guys appreciate my tactics on getting him to clean up.LADIES please bare in mind sometimes guys allow things to get overwhelming atleast from his point of view and he needs some help and gentle encouragement to get it together.GUYS please don't use my words to get a chic to help you clean....if she thinks you are worth the efforts she'll suggest it herself!!!!!

i am a clean freak i admit...touch of OCD i think : /

but if a man is a little messy then i can deal with it,as long as he is willing to sort that out if i ended up living with him....i take great care and pride in my home,so i would expect that to be respected.
i could not live with a slob,i like a clean home.
but personal hygeine would concern me more...that would be a def turn off : /

I have always been a bit of an OCD neat freak myself, however, my soon to be X is the total oppisite! It has been a point of contention for many years and it finally affected most other areas of our lives, which is one of the reasons for the big D. We were seperated at one point for a few months, she went to her parents and I stayed in the house, which I just moved back here after my job ended in Nashville (was there for 8 months), it was one of the nastiest houses I had ever seen and I hit the roof, she moved out that night, it took me 2 weeks solid to get that house cleaned up and liveable, when my mthr-n-law saw it 2 months after she moved out, she did say that I keep a better home than she did. And I do when I am not living with a slob. SO if you choose to live with a slob it will go one of two ways, either they will choose to comprimise and clean up their act or you will be looking for someone who is willing to help keep a clean house with you, so yes a slob is a defenite NO. I would probably not make it past the front door anymore if it is as bad as the mice and roaches kicking it on the couch. They have to be clean!! If they don't take pride in their home and take care of it, how will they take pride in a relationship that will take work as well and lazy people don't work, but I will not clean it for them like Princess, though it was nice of her, but no not going to happen.

Ok hold up I didn't clean it for him WE cleaned it together. He had to make some serious efforts to get his room liveable.I merely used some great tactics to get him to help me organise his stuff. And it worked. He can now find all of his clothes and go to bed without taking a running start to get over the mound of stuff in the middle of the room.I would NEVER just clean for a guy!

Tough question. It would depend on the level of messy. I mean if the coffee table is piled with mail, newspapers, etc. that wouldn't be a problem. If the kitchen sink and countertops are piled with dirty dishes, that's another thing. Or if there are things in the fridge that could walk out of there on their own. Or the bathroom looks like it hasn't seen a scrub brush since the 80's. And when we go in there, we do look behind the shower curtain! Otherwise, a few clothes laying on the bedroom floor wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me. I'm kind of a neat freak though and I do realize men will be men. And if it did develop into a relationship, well I've helped a few guys clean up their houses over my lifetime and I'd probably do it again.

dated a guy who was a messy pack rat, i talked him into giving me the key to his house and i went and shoveled it out myself... (he wanted to hang on to diapers that were 5 years old) ahem...

he kept it pretty nice after my first "hey i cleaned it up, you keep it clean" lecture. was actually a great relationship. would still be with him if he werent so determined to hold on to his resentment over his past relationships and risk getting in the boat again.

Still love that messy freak to this day.

nothing like a reward of... all night, freaky sex, on a clean floor, couch, table, kitchen, shower... and im sure i missed something... for a job well done

I have a messy place and women don't seem to mind.

Of course they all think I'm a kinky son of a b!tch because I have them wear a blindfold...

There is a difference between clutter and just plain filth... Hey, sometimes I get so busy with my studies I don't have time to do everything in the house I want to.. I always set aside a day just to get things done here.

Clutter is ok, but like months old dirty clothes...ewwww... deal breaker..

The first time a lady comes over is a special occasion. Tidy the room, clean the kitchen and make sure the bathroom is spotless. After she gets to know you, it's okay to let things slide a little, at least until she makes you clean it up.

A little of a mess and I would be alright. But if it is just plain disgusting, with rotten food scrapes and old pizza boxes, used condoms, and such all over I would be gone.

i always say that first impressions are lasting one's. if a man cannot make a good impression the first time he has his lady over that to me is pretty sad. the beginning is the most crucial time in a relationship. that's always when generally one put's their best foot forward even if it means cleaning your living quarters. i'm not a clean freak but i like things to be in order and i can say from personal experience i cannot and will not be with a slob ever again!!!

I agree with TinyDancer - there is a big difference between messy and just plain dirty. Messy is forgivable, dirty is not. I used to go out with a guy who did not have the cleanest bathroom the first time I visited his place but after I told him it was a bit of a gross out, he always made sure the bathroom was clean and sparkling every time I came over after that and let me tell you, nothing says a guy cares about you like knowing he scrubbed the toilet just for you!

For me, it would depend on what kind of relationship it would be, but actually I wouldn't mind unless it was something serious like roaches or rats. Neat freaks do not attract me.
Did the woman that you were referring to seem distant after she went to your house?

I'm a neat freak, so it would leave a bad taste in my mouth but it wouldn't be a deal breaker right off the bat. Now if it was a regular thing, it'd be a deal breaker.

Now on the flip side, if guys go to a woman's house and it is messy - not dirty but cluttered maybe - is that a deal breaker? I clean at a B&B and detail rooms for my work, I really don't want to do it at home. Not a health hazard, things do get done but with three kids keeping ahead of it would be a full time job. I'd rather play then clean on my days off....

So guys, how tidy does the girl's place have to be?

Can those that answered similar to this, please explain? I'm not getting it....why?

Thanks,

I like your attitude of helping with the work! Very adult! That is why there are companies selling everything to unclutter an (usually too small apt)! Like many the apt I live in was constructed prior to the computer age and is far too small. When I was 20 and could put all my clothes in a duffel bag to now when I need a semi-trailer. There is no place that is built with big walking closets and huge closets in the bedroom . Not to mention the 42 inch tv the computer screens, VCR, dvd player, xbox etc. Thanks for being a help for us challenged persons
