| Another New Feature
Posted: 1/23/2007 10:59:50 AM | So i noticed that POF has added another new feature ( Admin must be working overtime lol).
There is now a link to see Who has viewed your profile
What do people think of this?
Is it a good thing.
Do you think that someone checking out your profile might make you more willing to contact them?
There is also a setting to block people from knowing you viewed their profile. Would you use it so as to remain anonymous, or do you like the idea of people knowing you were checking them out? | |

Posted: 1/23/2007 11:39:18 AM | Justa its on the mail/profile area - its the last choice on the inbox line - it used to be called my contacts and if you want that feature you must go into who viewed me and click on the small print as the contact feature is still available.

Posted: 1/23/2007 12:28:09 PM | Well I'm of mixed emotion on this one. If theres someone who posts on the forums that I'm not familiar with, I'll check out the profile. Female or male. I also just click on profiles at random to see whos out there. If I'm really bored or have a couple minutes to kill I'll click away. I also find that the banner people who pop up are different usually from the normal selections I get when I log in so I'll click on a new face. I have seen this feature on other sites and think that this was just a natural progression. My only concern is that with this being a free site that this may be construed as a wink, and taken the wrong,or mabey not so wrong way. Anyways, change is good, isnt it? | |

i would say this is a window for humans to biuld conjecture and feed drama and paranoia...but if your that scared then public picture would call you on that response...
I also think the creativity seen in pictures that are not human open the door for creative people to find each other...never mind common intrest found in the non human images but that one would precieve intrest by a mere glance at an profile...is kind of a needy additude in my mind...in all honesty...
I do not choose to waste my energy on conjecture the email in the box is good enough
and i do not toss energy backwards.........scratches head........yeeesh.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. I look at EVERYONE'S profile. I like to snoop around and see what people have to say about themselves and such. Check out the pics they have up etc... Is someone going to get the wrong idea about my intentions or lack thereof...? | |

Posted: 1/23/2007 4:07:12 PM | My first reaction to the new feature was "who needs it?" I thought about how people might react to knowing who has viewed their profile. Was it a sign of interest or the fact that no e-mail or rose or any other kind of followup might indicate disinterest? If you know someone has looked at your profile and didn't respond to it, what does that tell you? They aren't interested? Or, are they shy and might be receptive if you made the first move.
After thinking about that, I decided it doesn't matter. If you aren't sure about what someone thinks about you in this site, you are always free to write to them and ask. You could turn it into an icebreaker.
I think one benefit of this feature might be a way to gauge your own profile. If not many people are looking at it, you may want to consider a re-write. I am aware that there is a review profile part of this site, but it seems to be dominated by the same cruel people who have nothing better to do than to give every photo they see a "1."
I wonder when this site will give us a statistic that we can really use. Something like total number of chicken wings eaten. | |
