| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 11:16:47 AM | I wonder how long this one will last?
I just went to post in the hug thread & by the time i had finished typing it had disappeared. Myself...i think its the regulars ganging up on a newbie to the forums...sad.
SO...I'm still going to get to make my post...
I grew up in a place where you have to watch your back & constantly look over your shoulder, a place where the hardest people in the school were girls!?
Empathy for your fellow man didnt exist, i wouldnt have dared to hug another guy.
In my late teens i went raving & experimented with drugs, ecstacy - releases serotonin in the brain...your happy release. Whilst on this drug i would have hugged my worst enemy.
Now i don't do all that anymore but the hug aspect has stayed, i hug all my close friends nowadays..including the male ones, if i hadnt experimented with that drug i dont think i would have learned that its ok to hug until much later in life.
Everyone needs a hug at some point, never underestimate the power of a hug.
So...Did you have to learn how to hug? Was it always there & you didnt have to give it a second thought? How important to you is hugging?
Go on deleters....have a ball!!!

I love hugs.
I hug all my mates when I meet them.
I hug at every available opportunity - I love it and so do (most of) the people I hug.
It's a great way to show affection, give support, show empathy and/or sympathy, and the best ice breaker on the planet!
EDIT 1: Here's my post from the previous 'hug' thread:- At what age should it stop? Never.
I don't remember my mum cuddling me, or ever showing me much affection.
I made a decision when I became pregnant that it would be different for my child. My baby and I cuddle lots. We hug and kiss each other in greeting and when we say goodbye. We often get into bed together on weekend mornings and have a snuggle. We cuddle up together (and I tickle her back) when we are watching TV, or sometimes when we're just have a talk. We often hold hands when we're out shopping, or walking along a street. She usually comes in to my bedroom to say goodnight, and tell me all about what she's been doing, when she's been out at night. Rarely a day goes by without 'I love you' being said between us.
Neither of us is ever embarrassed by our affection - we both love it (and each other!).
And my baby is 21.
EDIT 2: Awwww, CodPiece! I love you too!

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 11:31:44 AM | I have always been told i give good hugs!
Something to do with big arms and long hugs! I dont know, women are sometimes easy to please! HAHA!
Try 1 - Is this message long enough?
Try 2 - No, no it is not, perhaps if I elongate the last comment it may be? Come on!!!!!
Try 3 - While it annoys me, it does not annoy me enough to work out exactly how much I need to post...two words used to be enough :(

Posted: 1/24/2007 11:35:55 AM | I am very tactile and find hugging someone comes easily..And if I havent seen some of my mates male and female for a week or two we always greet each other with a hug and a kiss on the cheek..The same when we say goodnight..

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 12:51:21 PM | So...Did you have to learn how to hug? Er, yes I did. Family was not particularly tactile for various reasons.
Was it always there & you didnt have to give it a second thought? Didn't become huggy until much later in life, I still can't do it 'without a second thought' to anyone who isn't among closest family and friends. But I'm getting a lot better
How important to you is hugging? Very, very important!

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 1:16:32 PM | When i'm in a bad mood, there is nothing better to lift my spirit than a hug.....even if it is a virtual hug from a stranger on here. I have never known a person who does not appreciate a hug......if hugs could be bottled, my store cupboard would be full. | |

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 1:25:30 PM | Certainly never got hugs that I can remember as a child- and it was definitely discouraged by the nuns when I was away at school (it can lead to impure thoughts did you know girls?).
Now, I don't have that many people I can hug...which is a shame cos sometimes it would be nice.
Ho Hum date on Saturday - so here's hoping!

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/24/2007 1:26:37 PM | Hugs are the best things in the world, I feel so wanted when I'm in someone's arms it makes such a difference.
I'm always cuddling up to my daughter in bed, she's 3 and comes into my bed in the night. Then in the morning, when I drop her off at the childminders, we have a cuddle before I leave her.

| I like to hug...it seems some people don't!!! Posted: 1/25/2007 2:11:08 AM | Nowt wrong witha hug, or a cuddle!! being tough doesnt have to mean being cold!
Little tale. went to with mom to visit her husbands parents, I stayed in car with girlfriend. I was about 25 at the time, Mom came out and asked me to do her a favour, she said theres a 7 year old kid in the house that thinks it's being a cissy to give his mom a hug or a kiss! I went in with mom, and asked him if he did think it was being a cissy to give his mom a kiss? he was too shy to reply, so I just turned and picked my mom up in my arms and gave her a big smacker! he was gobsmacked, mind so was my mom at the times as she was no lightweight!! I wonder if he remembers that ?
