Posted: 2/7/2007 3:08:27 AM | | My guess at who will win the Nextel Cup in 2007, my pick is number 17 Matt Kenseth. My second choice to win it, would be #20 Tony "Smoke" Stewart. I think that after Tony missed the Chase last year and he's gonna come out strong and wanting to show that last year was just a fluke. But, alas, I guess we'll just have to wait a couple weeks to see just how things are going to pan out this season. GO MATT!! | |

Posted: 2/7/2007 9:01:47 PM | Its sure going to be different seeing Greg Biffle not in the National Guard car as Casey Mears will be in those colors. Unfortunately Greg will be a distant third in Roush Racing behind Kenseth and Edwards. The great thing is he hasn't forgot how to win. Last year was just an aberration with some bad luck and missed opportunities. He will be in there.
Watch for Tony Stewart again,Denny Hamlin who had a great rookie season, and Jimmie Johnson. Harvick and Burton are sleepers along with Jeff, and Jr. Kurt Busch was too quiet last year.
Of course i have to mention Michael Waltrip since Bullie is such a closet fan, even though she won't admit it. Great to see you back, Bullie. Where's Racefan? | |

Harvick will come on strong, but I wonder if the "fame" will trip him up? Pretty boys....

For every new model change there are shake down issues that Kahne doesn't need. He seemed to be coming on last year, inconsistent yes, but he was making progress. Now he has Elliott Sadler and Scott Riggs breathing down his neck on the Evernham Team. This should help him step up, i'm sure he doesn't want to be 2nd or 3rd in his own garage. | |

trip had to be shortened to ONLY the three days of the workshop. my father is termanal and not doing well. daddy's girl won't take the chance of not being at his side.
there will be other races, in fact i'm already booked for a half dozen and get this......MMP, in ohio, where work, landed fox coverage for the truck race on memorial day weekend! you will all see me there!
as for the cup......i think elliot sadler might be pretty strong this year and wouldn't we all like to see mcmurray go somewhere?
have you seen there are 2 toyotas in the top 5 qualifyers?!? what's up with that? | |

I know how much you were looking forward to Daytona. You are right, there will be other races but the human race takes precedent at this time.
Toyota was a surprise to me also. I think we may be selling them a little bit short. They are getting closer and closer to GM in sales and will probably overtake them soon. Sometimes progress can be painful in the auto industry. | |

Northern, actually they are still running the Charger, I think the Avenger might just be for the COT, much like Chevy is using the Impala for their COT program.
Watching practice right now, the Yates guys seem real fast, its great to see Ricky back. The old Rooster still has a little something left in the tank.

Posted: 2/10/2007 11:00:41 AM | What happened with the Stewart thing, Tony was on the track for practice when Nascar threw the red flag because their was debris on the apron of the track in turn 4, apparently Nascar said they couldn't tell if the debris was on the track or on the apron, Stewart said that maybe they should have more people around the track. he said Brian France is making a million dollars I'm sure he can afford to hire a few more people. He was mad because he had just completed his 1st lap and the 2nd is when you see what you've got. He said that Nascar screwed them out of an hour and a half of practice, they should have let the cars on the track finish their laps and not let any other cars out and then get the debris. I didnt see the end of testing to see if Tony was able to get a lap in before the session ended.
I'm not a Tony Stewart fan but I do agree with him on this one, with the limited amount of time they get for practice it really wasn't fair, not only to Tony but to the other cars that were on the track. I loved the way he called out Brian France also | |
