If you answere more than fourteen of the questions as true of yourself, you are probably highly sensitive. But no psychological test is so accurate that an individual should base his or her life on it

Self-Test Results
You have indicated that 25 of the items are true of you. (there are 27 items total)
Scoring: If you answered more than fourteen of the questions as true of yourself, you are probably highly sensitive. But no psychological test is so accurate that an individual should base his or her life on it. We psychologists try to develop good questions, then decide on the cut off based on the average response.
I guess I'm highly sensitive.

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/12/2007 9:21:16 AM | I had answered 15 of them and it said I'm "highly sensitive". Okay.
I've always been somewhat sensitive, but never shy. And I love loud music, it's loud sirens or talking is what I don't like much.

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/13/2007 12:27:44 AM | "You have indicated that 23 of the items are true of you."
Loud music doesn't bother me if I like the music. Other than that, loud noises often create stress. The phone bugged the crap out of me today as an example. It wasn't all that loud, but wouldn't stfu!! That count?
I have a history of suffering from panic attacks. I have an over active nervous system some "experts" in anxiety say. Being this way has it's gifts as well as curses. It's really good for creative endeavors, but a disaster when dealing with negative stress in life. I'm much better these days and only experience the negative consequences when the worst of events happen to me, which unfortunately has been what has been happening of late. But it's mostly better now FINALLY!:)

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/9/2008 11:05:54 AM | Funny, I had just seconds ago read this article which reminded me of my dad, my son, myself and one friend I know. It seems this is hereditary. Do any of you have relatives who are similar?
http://healing.about.com/od/empathic/a/HSP_hallowes.htm
just an excerpt "The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.
To him... a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death.
Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create, create - - - so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour out creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless he is creating." -Pearl S. Buck
EDIT: like some of the others here I scored only 16 because I love loud music! and have learned to go inside myself so that chaotic situations don't really bother me so much anymore. I am extremely sensitive to others moods which is an annoying thing to me.

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/9/2008 2:39:28 PM | | I only scored 15. I am sensitive when it comes to people's feelings and appreciation of fine arts, but stimuli and being busy aren't quite as bothersome to me. I will not tease someone to upset them because I am sensitive to that kind of behavior. I would feel terrible if I joked with someone and that person got upset when I wanted to make that person laugh. Teasing to make others upset is very insensitive and juvenile. | |

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/9/2008 3:34:44 PM | ok...i scored 23. 'highly sensitive?' well...loud noises bother me. a lot of chaos bothers me. i prefer spending large amounts of time alone...but do i need a label for this? do i need special treatment?
it seems to me that someone stands to make some money from this concept. can't we just live life according to what we know works for us? do we really need yet another self-help guru to walk us through our quirkiness?
yeesh. | |

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/10/2008 11:24:52 PM | | I was kind of whining to my ex about uhm... something... and she said "Awwwww.... Cupcake!" and I thought that was sort of mean of her. It made me sniffle a bit. | |
|
| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/12/2008 3:58:04 PM | | 4... however noticing subtleties in my environment makes me observant, not "sensitive"... | |

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/12/2008 5:01:55 PM | There seem to be many labels to the human personality. For instance, you could say that in numerology, a person with a certain number is highly sensitive. Or with astrology, if you are born under a certain sign, that you a highly sensitive.
We can look at lots of reasons to describe why we are what we are.
Of course, I find all of it fascinating.
That's because my number in numerology is 7. A 7 person wants to know who we are and why we are here. tee hee

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/12/2008 5:16:05 PM | | 21 - interesting, but it doesn't change who i am or insights into me - i already knew i need time alone to recharge... that i thrive better when things calm and peaceful rather than loud and chaotic | |

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/16/2008 9:13:12 AM | i scored a 11...but i know what subjects to avoid so i don't get upset with what people say...i think everyone has a surtan topic that is touchy for them... if something is misunderstood or constructive criticism....well if took the wrong way can be bad and cause a argument...it happens often enough... | |

| Are you highly sensitive? Posted: 2/16/2008 10:16:45 PM | Well according to this test. I am nowhere near being sensitive at all.
But I don't get frazzled by outside influences. I keep on rockin'.
