Any POKER players out there?

Are you good?

Do you win?

Do you make a living at it?

Where do you play?

Do you play the no limit games? High limit? Or just the $2 - $4 ----- $4 - $8 games like myself

I am not that great at it, but I'd love to be decent. Any secrets?? You wanna reveal???

Does that mean you are playing tonight? Anyone? Anyone?

I stick to the 2-5 dollar tourney tables...5-10players.. Sit and go..multi table takes too long to play most of the time...

I grind it out on Pokerstars...Ive played as high as 30/60 Omaha H/L but that gets a little insane. I just cashed out 90 percent of my bankroll and am starting over at the bottom limits...Pocket fives.com has some good articles in their archives and the message boards can be informative and entertaining. The best advice is to practice strict bankroll management.

Yes. Pretty good. Yes. No. Last time I played for any length of time it was online no-limit tournies, usually several at once. I've played table games as high as $30-60 in LA and $20-40 in Vegas, but tournies are lower risk with commensurately lower rewards.

A strong path to excellence is cheap (but not free) online tournies. Play 2-4 at once, get tons of hands and learn how to read people based on behaviour. Get player histories from www.pokerdb.com and similar sites to provide background about people you find yourself at tables with. Keep tabs on your own relative performance using the same databases. Work to improve.

Cheers,
Mike (I no longer have $1000+ in my wallet on an average day)

i love to play poker and usually do well
in the grand scheme of it all, i'm definately out on top
pokerstars is my personal favourite site, but playing online can be frustrating when it is free tables
because since the money is fake, people dont play seriosuly
it is a good way to learn the odds though
watching it on tv is also a good way to learn as you can find out what is worth going in on, and when you should cut your losses and fold

I hear ya on the free games...they are a waste of time in my opinion. I could see using them to learn game play, structure...hands..etc...but not for any other play, or learning to read players..etc..

Freerolls get equally annoying because of the "free" aspect...

I don't play to make money, simply to play. Winning is good though..lol. I don't typically play any tourneys more than 10bucks entry unless they are amongst friends and real play.

For those on the microgaming system, we could set up a tourney, and play for fun...bragging rights are always good. Pick a night, and a time...

Maybe a new event coming up?

VV- online strip poker? Hmm..somehow I don't think that will work..and honestly Wolfy...I don't want to see you nekkid...lol

I like cwolfy's idea. Strip poker all the way........................

I'm an average player. So there's a 50/50 change that all my clothes are coming off!!!!!

But, pour several drinks into me and that will happen anyways. Damn, we're not supposed to give away our secrets

I'm in for a tourney if someone wants to do it... I'll help host if necessary/but will not be the primary host.

A tourney format means the gamers do not play for so much money that it hurts to lose... I mean all we need is chips... people play for chips... the buy-in only determines the prize pool. $10 (or whatver) gets a player $2,000 bucks worth of chips (or $5000 or whatever). If you play for social reasons, then the buy-in does not have to be steep.

p.s. Of course if c-wolfie or solo will play strip.... lets just forget playing for poker chips entirely

I only play sit and go at pokerstars and play for free. I find it fun and challenging. I enjoy the no limit variety and seriously need assistance on how to put a image in the circle. Any advise???

To the OP,

Poker is like any form of gambling......you have to have the ability to have patience and disciplne. I would recommend that if you were going to start playing live at casino's I would reccomend that you stay away from limit games and go play 1-2 no limit. 1-2 doesnt sound like alot but i have hit pots for around $1000. Limit games just grind your money away as people will be more tempted to stick around wating for flush/straight draws with out having to invest much money....play no-limit and make them PAY to see cards.
I like Boulevard better than River Rock.

Good Luck (Unless we are at the same table!)

Haven't played cards in a couple of years... not interested in gambling either , would rather spend it on something that is guaranteed to give me a return or immediate satisfaction.
Plus I don't have the patience... I think losing continuously at strip poker in my younger years ( think it was rigged) cured me of thinking that I could win.. would rather play naked twister

I like Pokerstars, usually play Omaha Hi/Lo. Played some free tournaments, not as much fun for some reason as the money ones. I like the sit & go games more than tournaments.

Are you good?
I am ok.
Do you win?

Do you make a living at it?
No.
Where do you play?

On line any free games as I do nto want to loose my money.

Do you play the no limit games? High limit? Or just the $2 - $4 ----- $4 - $8 games like myself

All about chips, readign the cards. Knowing the chances. some days you lose some days you burn winning and who knows what card will coem up. I try not to chase but the river a few times has gifted me.

I think knowing when to fold is critical.
