I had someone accuse me of being racist...that sucked because I honestly couldn't understand why. Sometimes people are just mean and it doesn't have anything to do with who you are...

Racism covers a very wide range of behavior. What was said and the context are necessary to give you an answer.

I'd kinda figure that anyone who's out in the world, mingling with the rest of the critters, has been judged under some sort of prejudice... and almost assuredly racism.
Whether or not you're a VICTIM though... well, that is more likely up to you... and how you choose to deal with it.
Again, it's that old saw about choosing your battles... somebody shouts a racist slur from a passing car while flipping you off? It's probably stupid/useless to chase them down and confront them. Somebody passes you over for a job after making blatantly prejudiced remarks? That's might be worth a fight.

If u initiated contact with someone & were rejected on the basis of race, that doesn't necessarily constitute racism, because, a person my feel interracial relationships too much of a hassle. The only way to gauge it would be by their response

If someone contacted you & cast aspersions on your ethnicity, well yes that's racism of coarse.

Having read your original post, on the subject,(now deleted I assume) I do feel that you were a victim of a racial retort.

I hope u can move on & not become too resentful, I also wish people could be civil, no matter what the views are.

thanks for the input!

It started when i messaged a female a couple days ago. I commented on how great she looked in her pictures and asked her if she dated black guys!

her answer was

"ewwwww no"

wtf does that mean?

Maybe you should not initiate a conversation by complimenting someone on their looks. Some people consider that inappropriate just as it is inappropriate to judge someone on their skin colour.

That was my take too. It's unlikely that the "ewww no" comment was in response to the question, but more likely something you said that she took offense at. I only say that because even though Canadians can certainly be racist, not many are openly racist like that. As a Canadian, you know that we tend to be overly polite at times, certainly about matters like race.

Means that she is racist and should go back to grammar school. Just remember that it is her loss to be more concerned about what you look like than the person that is on the inside. I have had many e-mails that focused on my looks which I have responded to politely and have never felt the need to degenerate into ridiculous and insulting behavior.

Really hard to tell, but i would not put it past anyone who thought "ewww, no" was a valid, thoughtful response to something such as the question you asked.

OP that is a very grey area, the question you asked actually warranted that kind of response too, even if you were not black.

I have sent e-mails to women that reponded to me that they did not date outside their race. was i offended by this? no, I actually think that kind of honestly is very refreshing.

I would rather someone be honest with me about the"real" reason they don't want to connect, than to give me some lame excuse as to why we are not a match.

Next time put a little more though into what you write to a female OP. Beautiful women get comments about their looks a million times a day. You don't want to be like everyone else, write something that will make you stand out from the rest of the fishes in the pond.

I can't believe in this day and age people can still be so close minded! Best of luck finding a girl that deserves you!!!!!

This really irritates me when I hear people throw around words like Racism, one of the overused and misunderstood words in the dating world, its right next to shallow

Let me make this perspicuous for you OP? Racism isn't a matter of aesthetic preference, it a matter of bigoted exclusion.........words ...deeds…….actions.

No matter what our personal preferences are, there will always be those who are intimidated, angered blah blah blah, by choices/vies unlike there own, this seems overly active when the subject of physical appearance/age/ethnicity is mentioned, yes rejection is a terrible thing, instead of playing the quote unquote "race card victim" chalk it up as experience and move on, not everyone is going to like you and they do not have to justify it either.

I'm willing to bet there have been some women who were unattractive or extremely corpulent who have shown a interest to you and you would dismiss them for what ever reason? yes, no , maybe?

just throwing my 2 cents in

I think racism requires permits and licenses when done in the city. And if it involves animals, it may even be illegal. For example, I know in Oregon horse racism is banned, but dog racism is perfectly legal.

In more rural areas, I think it is enjoyed by the younger rebel crowd with supped up cars.

BTW: I think your use of the word "racist" is inappropriate. The correct term should be race car drivers.

OP, while her response of "ewwwww no" was uncalled for I don't think you should jump to racist conclusions.

It's possible that she may have stupidly jumped to conclusions. She may have interpreted your question as 'a black guy looking for a booty call with a white woman'.

The word racist has become so politically correct to use. For some it's as easy to say as "good morning". It's something I've noticed over the years and I'm not accusing you (OP) of that.

I was called a racist once because I accused former Vikings head coach Dennis Green of having a preference for black quarterbacks. It was just an observational opinion yet it made me a racist? The word racist is a very ugly word and it should not ever be used lightly. Calling one a racist is the equivalant of calling someone of color a n*****.

I don't think it is racist. You are just not someone she would go out with. Maybe she does have racial hangups... but that does not make her racist....

don't put yourself out there as a victim because victims get shot, not shotdown.

Honestly, if the person reads this forum, I think she may be offended because she is being called something as horrid as a racist, simply because she does not wish to go out with you. Yes, she could have put it better... if everything is as innocent as you claim...

It may have nothing to do with race... she may not like your profile, or think you are ugly?

Don't know... but I would say you were not a victim of racism.

Keystoneskinman, Im not sure where you're coming from? but and this is a big BUT, racists come in all colours, all ethnicities.............. I'm not sure how calling someone a is equivalent to being called a racist?

I'm still a little lost over the Dennis Green quarterback comment? but maybe its because I didnt have my morning cup of java

No i don't think you were a victim of racsim, just someone that did not know how to express herself like an adult and just say politely, thanks but i am not intersted in dating outside my race, the "ewwwww no" comment reminded my of my little cousin who didn't want to eat her veggies. Whether the comment was in regards to you yourself or how you commented her it doesn't matter, "ewwww no" is something said of kids.

Don't worry about, just chalk it up to another POF expereince.. Happy Fishing...

Sounds like she was just an idiot with no tact.

She could have easily just said "no, I'm typically not attracted to black guys but good luck with your search" and I'm sure that would have been the end of that.

Don't worry about dumb people, they're not worth it.

Wow Keystoneskiman how many borderline racist comments can you put in one post?.

If you can't see how making a comment about the colour of a person skin as it pertains to his job might be looked at as racist, then you have no clue.

And just how the hell you jumped to the conclusion that she may have interpreted his e-mail to mean "A black guy looking for a booty call with a white girl" is beyond me. What are u a mind reader? . How do you know the girl he sent the e-mail to is white? did he say she was white? all we know for sure is, she was not black. Yet you took that and formulated a scenario where the black guy is trying to use the white girl for a booty call.

And your final comment. Calling someone a racist is equlivalant to someone of colour being called the N word.....I will not even dignify that asinine comment with a rebuttal.

I bet you start alot of your conversations with " I am not a racist but", and end those conversations with "some of my best friend are".

Many year's ago I applied for a very good and secure and gold pensioned job with a large electricity generating government corporation that would have much very improved my standard of living.
It was one the very best places to work in my area....and I very much wanted/needed this job because back then I was still just starting out.
I went through a very lengthy interview and testing process and I was in contact with the hiring authority who told me I was very well qualified and was near the top of the scoring.
I waited and waited and finally I then inquired as to my status....

I was told they are very "sorry" but they had quota's to fill and that I had been "passed over."

I did not get that life altering job because of the colour of my skin!!!

I am a white male and it is legal to discriminate against me .....it is a sick feeling to be discriminated against....believe me! ......especially when it is quite possibly in favour of someone who is a recent immigrant to a country many generations of your family has contributed very much to.

White male's have become third class citizen's and it's only due to our ability that we are not even worse off.
