Where are some good places to buy fish and chips? In the past I have gone to Olympia on Thurlow near Robson. It is run by a Greek guy who lighly seasons the batter with some seasoning that makes the fish taste great. Apparently there is a good spot in Steveston.

i think there is still a joey's only in white rock up by the mall.same strip as the realto movie theatre. trolls (i think it is) on the strip down at the beach is good. they do a light tempura batter so it isn't so heavy. if you are down there tho you need to eat outside.

PAJO'S down by the boat launch at Barnett Harbor has some really good fish and chips
I'm full from dinner, but I'm getting a hungry craving just thinking about. They've got good Cod, Halibut, and Salmon there. It's the little building just off from the boat launch parking lot.

Here in Victoria, we have Haultain Fish & Chips on, you guess it, Haultain. An institution.

For atmosphere nothing beats Barb's Fish and Chips on Fishermen's Warf. Grab your order, sit on the docks and enjoy life. (Fox, you beat me to it by a minute. LOL)

If a greek cooks it then it MUST be good, but I'm not biased...much.

I can make pretty tasty fish and chips - see above

And now I am craving fish and chips too, darnit! I wonder if some garlic prawns will ease my hankering for seafood...

Once travelled across Canada with my family and I only had fish & chips.

Wrote a journal about which ones were my faves... weird but the best I can recall were in Winnipeg.

BUT, here in the Lowe Mainland, must concurr with the above post...
Daves in Steveston is the best I have had around here...

The Fish & Chip stand at Lonsdale Quay Public Market is my second favorite.

Perhaps being a fish & chip expert is one reason I am the size I am today

For the city folks out there, the Fish Cafe on W 41st and E Boulevard in Kerrisdale is possibly one of the best and inexpensive Fish and Chips options in Vancouver... its only a small family restaraunt, but dont let that fool ya; it has great service and a full seafood menu.

And just in case you were wondering, the halibut, steamed mussels and grilled calamari are absolutely some of the best in the business! Mmmmmmmm.... now I am kinda hungry.

I agree with Bubbles with Dave's in Steveston.
Also you could try Troll's in Horseshoe Bay. I haven't been there for a few years but I liked it when I've been there. Try the Troll Ale if you go.

Oh yes.. the Cockney Kings on Sperling and Hastings. I remember when they opened in the late 1960's and the mom and dad had just come from England. Best fish and chips you ever tasted. We could not walk past there after school without getting some chips with lots of vinegar, salt and ketchup..

Pajo's at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody is second!

Thanks for all the super suggestions. Does anyone want to make a field trip to Steveston for fish and chips? I would volunteer to organize and to drive but my car, which was stolen two weeks ago, was just recovered and and I won't get it back until next week, if it can be driven. Maybe the first Sunday in March, when I should have my wheels back. Is there any interest? I live in Vancouver.
