Decent restauraunt and bar at the top. Take a WARM coat, it was about 10 degrees with lots of snow when I was there.
Found a nice little bar along 111 but don't remember exactly where. In a shopping center and you couldn't hardly see it from the main street. Think it was by a big grocery market. Right side going west. Not many public bars, mostly private clubs within the resorts fenced areas.

| Palm Springs, CA Posted: 2/26/2007 1:32:48 PM | Fortunately, I went to Palm Springs for work and was able to mix in some pleasure as well.
If you're going to have a car there, check out the Pines to Palms Hwy. (Hwy 74). There is a place to park at the top and you can see all of Palm Springs. Check it out at night and during the day for two different views. The road up there is a really fun drive. You go up about 2500 feet or so in elevation through a bunch of switchbacks and banked turns. You can also continue to follow this road for some trailheads for hiking. If you drive along Hwy 111 (the main road that goes along the mountains at the south edge of town), you can head south on Hwy 74.
Rent some bicycles if you don't want to relax the entire time. I think I rented from Tri-a-bike on San Pablo. It was only $30-$35 for all day. That was for a very nice full suspension Cannondale, too. There are trails throughout the mountain range at the south edge of town (right by the Pines to Palms Hwy). You can also take some guided tours on road bikes from a place such as Big Wheel Tours. There's one that takes you to an active fault line, I believe.
As a previous poster suggested, the Aerial Tram is really cool. If you don't venture too far into the hiking trails, it's not that cold. Especially since you live in Canada. Maybe that will be shorts and t-shirt weather for you. :)
Palm Springs has several casinos if you like to gamble.
Well, have a good time there.

| Palm Springs, CA Posted: 3/4/2007 9:48:30 PM | The outlet center!! My friend and I met the nicest gay couple and they took us shopping there, and took us to the hotel (I think its the Hilton??), in Palm Desert I believe, for dinner.
Go golfing as well!! Even if you suck (as we both did), we found that people were more then willing to show us proper swings etc.... and took us for drinks afterwards!! I had heard that if you are going to golf, you better be damn good, but I found that was so not true!!

| Palm Springs, CA - Round Two...Yahooooooo....! Posted: 5/1/2008 9:00:02 PM | Okay...anyone have anything that's better than the King and Queen palms....or the Hog's Breath Inn....? ...(besides a "Clint" sighting...............?!! )
I'm going back next month...and am wondering if my deep love of the palm trees in my sisters back yard are worth leaving for something better, if at all possible..........?
side note: I have two full weeks, and some really coolio california wheels so travel is an option....
