| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 3:08:59 PM | I learned to ride a bike on my mates Raleigh Grifter which was like a Raleigh Chopper but without the 3 gears on the slopey bit! I was about 8/9 I think? I never got my first bike until my Brother gave me his racer when I was about 13/14. It was sprayed Gold and when I sat on it my feet were off the ground! I used to go into the woods at YorksWood and ride down about 25 foot slopes on it (mad I know and it f**ked the wheels up but it was sooooo much fun!), or try and do stunts on it! LOL. | |

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 3:22:45 PM | | I remember the grifter, my mate had one, I had a light blue chipper, was like a baby chopper, smaller and had no gears. My older brother had a chopper (ooeer missis) and my younger brother a comando. We went on from there pinching back whels off choppers and putting them on normal framed bikes and replacing the handle bars with cow horn ones and ape hangers, anyone know what Im talking about? | |

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 3:28:07 PM | | My first bike was a tricycle - burgundy and red with a little box on the back. It was a hand-me-down from my next door neighbour. I remember buckling the wheels once, when I crashed into a car coming out of one of the back alleys on the block where I lived. But my lovely Daddy sorted it out for me! | |

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 3:35:21 PM | Um first bike my grandad rescued & fixed out of a bin lorry (thanks grandad) It was great i didn't care, looked like it was painted with full lead black gloss.
My next bike was the Striker, the Grifters baby brother. It must have been a knock off grey import as it had pedal back coaster brakes. With these brakes you could skid through puddles.
Skidding through puddles seemed to be important at that age

Jack, my mate actually put the whole front end of a Puch moped onto his Chopper, was heavy as fcuk but looked hard as nails!

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 3:51:58 PM | yep my first bike was a tomahawk, a minature chopper. I upgrade to the raleigh Arena racer but got fed up with the way that looked so first flipped the drop handle bars up the other way, was the thing to do in those days, then took them off in favour of the cow horned handle bars with tassels. Cool as fcuk. Well i thought so at the time. It kinda went with all my badges on the school blazer and my plimpsoles. Grange Hill all over again, where have those days gone.
edit: msg 15; Grange hill started the same year i started in senior school so it has to be a tucker jenkins lol

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/23/2007 7:52:01 PM | | I was about 5 or 6 and was riding my mums fold up bike... I had to stand on the kerb to get onto it... The first time I tried to get on it the pin on the hinge snapped and I fell off when the bike folded on me and split my head open...(just the skin... not the bone).. I was 9 before I wanted another one...lol | |

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/24/2007 12:03:42 AM | Was not the first I rode (The make of that is shrouded in the mists of time), but the one I remember so well because of the arguements that came before I eventually got one was the "Chopper"
Oh how I loved that bike It was about as cool a mode of transport as a kid could get I suppose. You were someone when you had a Chopper LOL

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/24/2007 12:50:26 AM | | The first bike I rode was one that my dad rescued off the tip don't remember what type it was. The first new bike I had was a Raleigh Boxer which I kept until I was about 11 for jumping ramps on and stuff the handle bars got bent forward from the abuse it got. I later got a Raleigh BMX when I was big enough only little you see but even that I managed to snap in half. I had to have a new frame under warranty the quote from the old guy in the bike shop was a classic he said "he's been jumping on it hasn't he?" well isn't that what a BMX was for?. | |

| What was the first bicycle you rode? Posted: 2/24/2007 1:33:41 AM | | My first bike belonged to an old lady who lived close to us, I used to get her paper every night on the way home from school. Think she felt sorry for me so gave me her bike that she no longer rode. It was a huge heavy thing, with a big basket on the front, and a leather saddle. We lived on a country lane that was a long hill to the main road, that’s where I learnt to ride, god knows how I didn’t get killed, rarely managed to stop at the road. It had a huge basket on the front, which was handy for a days out, could get bottles of juice and box of food, and my dog and still have room to store our ill-gotten gains from apple trees! I never envied my friends and there new bikes. For my tenth birthday I was given a Purple Coventry Eagle, one that folded in half it was lovely, but not as good as my old black steed! | |
