Posted: 2/25/2007 6:40:26 AM | Hi there everyone. I started this thread to talk about the POF party last night and to post pics, since the old one will be closed soon.
I don't have any pics right now, but I'd like to thank everyone who showed and made it such a fun time. Everyone looked so good....and most I didn't recognize right away. We Newfies are a hot bunch aren't we, lol.
I also want to thank Jon, Amer, J.R, Earl and the rest of the staff at Stanley's/Bella Vista who made a little get-together into something much bigger on short notice. Thanks again guys.
If anyone wants to send me pictures of the event to have them posted here, please contact me and I'll give you my email address. Let's show everyone how much fun it was. :)
I'll definitely plan something more involved soon (I think there's a time limit on when I can host another one), and give plenty of notice. Next time there will be more door prizes, and we'll try to figure out some cool games. Any suggestions anyone?

I was pleasantly surprised by the success of the party. an outlet, finally, for like-minded people to mingle in a comfortable atmosphere. POF is a great site but it can't ever replace that face-to-face interaction
But we all know a party of that size doesn't just "happen". It takes legwork and organization. You didn't have to organize the party but you did. And all that attended are grateful.
The next one promises to be even bigger. Two main reasons:
1) The weather will be better (it can only get better). This will allow folks from outside the Metro area to attend.
2) Once word spreads about what a great time it was, it will draw the fence-sitters and the more shy and private people.
I'm not sure if you had much help with organizing last night's event but be assured, for the next one, you will likely have to turn help away.
Mark me down, for one, as a worker bee for the next event.

Awesome job girl,hope to see plenty more gettogethers,great success and u couldn't have found a better place,wish i could have stayed later but work committments.Hubby and i are both members of this site(yes married)But we have a pretty open relationship and are always honest about what we are offering upfront,wasnt really sure about attending the party as it is a singles site and event and we really dont expect to see many in our boat there but we figured it would be nice just to meet,unfortunately hubby had to work,but i dropped by with a freind she enjoyed a lot also.
Next time we will both drop by and say hi and if u need a hand with anything feel free to ask,we have lots of experience with gettogether parties,lol

I was a little...no alot nervous about going to an event like this alone. I finally showed up around 12:00 am and I could'nt believe how many cars were in the parking lot!!! Sure beats the downtown scene. I'd be happy to help organize the next event. I wish I had showed up much earlier!!

How smart are you? to plan a get together on your birthday. I hope you had a good one. Geez it was so weird that no one looked like they do on the site but thats just the way it is. Like I was trying to keep an eye out for OHM but couldn't be sure which guy was him.
Definitely have to have more of these events so that everyone can get over the first night jitters and ice can be broken. Well done on the first ever attempt to get POF'ers to come out and meet. As someone else said there isn't anything that can replace the face to face contact.

Thanks for your kind words. I was just hoping that it wouldn't flop and it's great to see that people had so much fun. As for the comment about face-to-face interaction,that's exactly how I felt and the reason I decided to just "take the plunge".
The only venues I can think of for groups that size in the winter are clubs. In the summer, we could do something outside but it's just too damn cold for that now.
And be careful when offering help...I just may take it. :)
slipperyandwet, don't worry about your situation. It may have been considered a POF singles event but really it was for anyone who is on the site (and their friends). Come and say hi at the next one.
nfldlady, just remember you said that..... all joking aside, I'm glad you overcame your shyness and gave it a go. :)
Had an absolute blast at the get together. Didn't start any fires in the washroom or get to know the bouncers on a first name basis, so all in all a good night.
I don't consider it a good night if I can remember how I got home. Oh well, to each his own I guess. :P
I looked for you OHM, but I didn't see you. I figure that any guy who can make me laugh out loud just reading a post would be wicked to hang around with. But then again,I'm not surprised...... I can't compete with a shiny round ball.....
I rethought the idea of identifiers after I heard a girl talk about not wearing a name file folder thingie because she didn't want anyone to know that she was desperate enough to be on POF...I heard a lot along those lines that night. So I guess that name tags and the like are only for the very brave. We can use them but it still won't help to identify those who don't want to be identified.:)

I'm the same way...it's funny how people think like that. I know a couple who are getting married this summer who met online. Like they said, it doesn't matter how you you find each other, but that you found each other in the first place. Sniff...that's so beautiful.

I have to say that there are some really nice guys here. It's too bad that more of them aren't being given a chance.
c76, I forgot to bring a camera, although I did see some people taking pics.I asked some of them to send me the pics but no one has. :(
I think I'll have to recruit some people to be "picture takers" who will post to the images thread after the next event.

When you've had a string of about 15 people, in a row, try to "hookup" with you the first time you met, then you'll know how bad it can get. But I am glad the last few girls I've seen are into more intellectual pursuits and have some sense of self control.
I hear you about how alot of guys on here rock. I happen to know a few in person (c76 have we met before??) and they are cool guys. People I enjoy hanging with and just being around. We even get together sometimes and swap dating information on the girls we met here.
So to the ladies (used loosely) who:
1) act skanky
2) **** and complain about almost everything
3) exhibit undesirable personality and behavioural traits
If you wonder why you can't get any dates on here, it's because men talk too... and we warn each other most of the time.
Jokingly, I wouldn't mind checking you out Brandi ;)
I was hoping the next event would be on my birthday, March 31.. but alas, that will not be :(

OHM, Brandi is neither an excessive drinker (well, i'm not at least 2 days a week anyway) nor is she falling down on the job. There is no need for ritual sacrifice, as Brandi is having another POF at the same place (Bella Vista) on April 27th....
