If you read a person's profile, and you're really interested, do the forum posts help or turn you off (depending on topic of course.)

Do you base your decision to contact them based on the type of things they post about?

Yes I do/did. I met a great person this way, and I am extemely happy with her. I did it a little different however, I checked her profile out after liking her posts.

Reading someone's posts helps you learn more about them. I however tend to gravitate towards reading brutally honest posts. I don't read the ones that are obviously written to impress the opposite gender. Being yourself is important and if you're not being yourself, I can see right through the BS.

Absolutely.

Insight into someone's beliefs and values is important. A person's profile, by design, is there to create interest, and the more one can learn about someone the better, afaic.

I have contacted people based on forum posts, but it was because I wouldn't have seen their profile any other way, and their views are a primary factor.

I do read up on a person's posts. Whether they are a pro or con depends upon what they are saying.

i do read up on peoples posts. i also contact people all over the world if i like their posts.

people that are insightful and honest are hard to find, when i come across them, i like to contact them in private and just let them know that they have impressed me...i have talked to some very wonderful people this way.

that is why i am dissappointed when people have restrictions that dont allow me to contact them.

Yep if they have posted on the forums I go troll the posts they have made. I find people will be more themselves on the forums as a whole. I think its a much better insight into who they are as a person then just a profile. You can see what they chose to post about as well as what they say in regards to it. Letting you kind of get a rough idea of what is important to them. That being said I have not noticed any local girls thus far that seem to post on the forums. I think the closest I have seen is one state away. LOL Ah well I have made some great friends from the forums on here and at least one of them I would be dating if they lived closer.

i wouldnt worry about that, be yourself, the one that you are searching for will find your honesty to be one of your great traits. i dont always agree with everybody, but that doesnt mean i wont like them.

The posts definately give you more information about someone. And I think there is a lesser chance of someone putting up a facade in the forums than there is in their profile.

I always read their forum contributions. It can be a good thing or a not-so-good thing. Of course, everyone has an off day, but, it does give a lot of insight beyond that provided by the profile alone, like everyone else said.

Forums are kinda slow, lately...

Absolutely, if they have posts. I like to think that the women who message me do the same. To me, it's part of reading the entire profile, rather than simply looking at the pictures and going, "Oh! Hot. Must message."

I may not be a guy but I'm gonna throw my two bits in anyway.

Yes, I read people's forum posts. In all honesty....I am a forum stalker. There's a few(one in this thread)that I regularly follow. I can't help myself...maybe someone can recommend a good twelve step program for me.

Hey KKshygirl,

you'd reduce POF to absurdity if you'd hesitate to contact someone just because of their forum posts. Same applies to those great guys who think about contacting you. There is so much more to a human being than a few lines here and there... I suggest if someone sparks your interest go for it ... aehm him.

Who wouldn't?

But if you are reading mine it would be considerate to know at some appropriate time. Shows good judgment and good respect. A woman here recently told me that and I'm mildly flattered.

I know who would not read them -- probably the ones just out for sex.

I would actually say that id rather meet people through the forums.

You get a more honest view of them.

For example, I took time when writing my profile. I sure as hell didnt writing this post. Witch is a more honest representation of me? Id still stick with this one, typos and all.

Reading someone's forum posts CAN be a lot more revealing than their profile, depending on how genuine they are.

I won't necessarily be turned off someone just because I disagree with them, depending on what it is, of course.

But if , for example, someone comes across as being full of themself, arrogant, a know it all - THAT for me is a HUGE turn off !

That is how I met my last ex...I got a laugh out of one his forum posts. However, since we broke up, I have read some of his earlier posts, and I think I should have done that BEFORE we got together...I could have saved myself some heartache!

I laugh at the people who somehow realize that others can read their posts from their profile and start a thread on "How do I get rid of my posts from my profile"

Funny thing is some people suggest posting 5 times
Others are aware of the last 25 posts feature and tell them to make 25 more posts... but no one ever remembers that the last 3 thread topics they started are ALSO attached to the last 25 posts

Too funny

I often check out a profile after reading the posts... cause if nothing else there may be more fun posts in that profile...
but it is the post first and profile second... most of the time
