| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 2/27/2007 7:02:18 PM | | Was it just me or were there moments where the fans booed during Mark Messier's jersey retirement ceremony? It wasn't just once, it was throughout and most noticeably during the speeches. Mark seemed to take it all in stride and maybe they weren't booing but instead saying something else but on our end, it sure sounded like booing. Anyone else see this? | |
|
| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 2/27/2007 7:08:49 PM | | they were chanting Mooooooose!...but I'm sure if Kevin Lowe had made an appearance, you would have heard plenty of Boo's! | |

| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 2/27/2007 7:12:36 PM | | Yeah I was wondering if it was a nickname or something, which certainly would make more sense than booing. I know Edmonton hockey fans are a little... well, unhinged, but I can't see people being so dense as to boo during his ceremony, regardless of what happened earlier in the day. | |

| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 2/27/2007 8:07:46 PM | My favorite part was when the fan hollered out, "welcome home Mark!" And yeah, for a split second I was like "wtf?" But then realised they were saying "Moose". | |

| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 2/28/2007 6:45:37 PM | | Messier getting Booed in Edmonton, Hell would have frozen over first. I loved watching him play and the game will certainly miss him! | |

ME TOO!!.... I was shocked, and my friend on the phone at the time said "settle down girly... They are saying MOOOOSE"... I was all fired up.... too funny!

| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 3/1/2007 8:02:14 AM | Ever run into a moose??
That is why. He smacked them hard, and they couldn't move him easily on the ice. He was also nick named the MESSIAH.
|
| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 3/1/2007 8:38:42 AM | | The Moose is on the hunt for a GM position - maybe there'll be an opening in Edmonton? | |
|
| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 3/1/2007 11:03:08 AM | | Why would he want the job in Edmonton? That sounds like a receipe for disaster. He wants New York, and who could blame him. | |
|
| Messier's Jersey Retirement Posted: 3/1/2007 12:48:43 PM | | Kidding! OMG! I'm sure after getting almost his entire family situated within throwing distance of NYC he wouldn't be too keen to leave there either. | |

Mark Messier Joke!!!
One day, Mario Lemuix, Wayne Gretzky, and Mark Messier all go up to heaven and they all meet God at his throne. God asks them all two questions.
God: Mario, what did you accomplish in your life?
Mario: Well, in 11 NHL seasons, I won 4 scoring titles, was second all time with 2.03 points per game, and after battling back from cancer, I lead my team to the Eastern Conference finals.
God: And what did the people around think of you?
Mario: The people in Pittsburgh loved me!
God: Wayne, what did you accomplish in your life?
Wayne: Well, in my 17 NHL seasons, I won 11 league scoring titles, I was league MVP 9 times, I received 4 Lady Byng Trophies, earned 5 Lester B. Pearson Awards, and lead Edmonton to 4 Stanley cups.
God: And what did the people around think of you?
Wayne: The people of North America love me so much they called me The Great One!
God: Mark, what did you accomplish in your life?
Mark: Well, I reached the 50-goal mark once, the 100-point plateau 5 times, I was voted the 1984 playoff MVP, and I had my name etched in 5 Edmonton Stanley Cups. In the '93-'94 playoffs, I promised a game 6 victory in the Eastern Conference Finals, and delivered, and then brought a Cup to Broadway.
God: And what did the people around think of you?
Mark: Well, the people in New York love me, and frankly, they think you're sitting in MY seat!

Wayne and his wife Janet were getting involved in a very private matter, whereby Wayne was assisting his wife in reaching "her own fullfillment"..
She commented "MESSY EH??" .... her husband replied.... " NO!! IT'S ME! GRETZKY!!"
